[Naver: KRN] Former Kara member Nicole, October Solo Comeback...'The 2nd Lee Hyori' Anticipation

when did the 2nd hyori ever become a thing for nicole..

I admire the hyori hype but nicole is good too. I love her solo stages, idk why they are calling her the 2nd hyori just cause she's debuting under hyori's label. She's nicole

It's the writer of the article saying that.  I admit I don't think the comparison is fair, but they probably did it because KARA is a famous group like Fin K.L. was and Nicole is going solo like Lee Hyori did.  The CEO of B2M is a former manager for many DSP groups including Fin K.L., SS501, and KARA.  He left the company around the time when Ms. Choi (Mr. Lee's wife) took over as CEO (i.e. the whole SS501 breakup and KARA contract dispute was under her watch). Mr. Lee had a brain aneurysm and ended up in a coma and despite waking up last year or so, is still bedridden and "not all there" to this day. DSP Media has gone downhill since his wife took over.

She was the worst in KARA TBH.... sucks she basically tried to ruin them twice so she could go solo, hope she fares well but I have barely any respect for her.

How much respect do you have for DSP Media's current CEO Ms. Choi then?  You know she personally bought the new headquarters for DSP Media and is having the company pay her rent for it, right? (and yes, she can do that because DSP Media is a private company and she is CEO)  She's also the one sending KARA between Korea and Japan milking them to make as much money for herself as possible.  If you want a reason Nicole and Jiyoung left DSP, you don't have to look far.  There's a reason why Nicole went with B2M where the CEO is a former manager for KARA back when things were good at DSP.

:omgwtf: who said anything about the CEO? If it's her company then yeah, she can do that then....get money...I respect her hustle just like I respect Goo Hara's hustle, Gyuri's hustle and Seungyeon's hustle. No matter what, they are ALWYAS getting paid to do SOMETHING...

Sooooo when KARA performs in Korea and Japan, they don't get any money?!?!? Goo Hara and Seungyeon don't own million dollar investment properties in some of the most expensive areas of Seoul? Goo Hara doesn't own her own expensive as hell penthouse/apartment/house in Seoul? They don't drive expensive cars.... :donthinkso:

She's been talking about being Hyori since forever but DSP obviously had no plans of making her a solo star so she bounced. That's fine, but don't go dragging the group through the mud on your way out. What was her goal? She works as a soloist and ALSO be a member of KARA at the same time so then KARA has to work around her solo schedule before they can decide on group activities?!?!...this girl and her mom are delusional.

Like I said, I hope she accomplishes her goals, but I have little respect for the way she went about thins.

I'm pretty sure the girls get more money from their CF deals, product endorsements, and shows they're on than they do touring all of Japan.  I think you're missing the point of a company being a give and take, not just a take. You're also taking a one sided look if the only DSP artist you follow is KARA to know even half of the other bullshit the Ms. Choi has pulled since taking over. I just named one thing of many.

Nicole wanted solo activities like the other girls were getting but she didn't get anymore after the contract dispute that Ms. Choi blamed her and her mother for.  Kind of sucks when a company calls up for an endorsement deal and wants Nicole but is told they can't have Nicole and ask if it's ok to use another member instead, right?  Real hustler and go-getter on Nicole's behalf there. That's what Nicole was upset about and why she wanted someone else to manage her solo activities in the first place.  She loves being in KARA and wanted to stay, but not at the price of not being able to do anything else because sometimes things like self-respect and being treated fairly matter.

I also don't even see how you can think Nicole was dragging KARA's name through the mud.  Seungyeon herself said she was unwillingly separated from Nicole and Jiyoung, two people she thought would always be by her side.  I take that to mean whatever happened, she doesn't blame them.  If members in KARA don't blame Nicole or Jiyoung for leaving, why are people saying bad things now?

What it boils down to is being respected enough to have your opinion matter and being treated like a human being. There are bigger things in life than money to some people.

None of what you said even applies. Nicole had solo opportunites. She had a show before called Nicole goes to school....it sucked. She was put on Variety shows....she barely got screentime because she sucks.... Jiyoung and Seungyeon were also dirving forces behind the dispute too but DSp didn't "punish them" because they are more marketable. Nicole did drag KARA down by insinuating things about the company and then the members basically being divided against one another.

I don't know how the other members feel about Nicole, frankly, it doesn't matter to me. I'm saying my opinion on the matter and that's that. You don't agee, oh well.

You say it wasn't about money but wasn't that the MAIN thing she and her stagemom were harping on about the first time around....and second time it's "solo activites" welll what do solo activites generate? More money....you can delude yourself into thinking it's not about money all you want but it is.

I also doubt that many companies wanted Nicole for CF/endorsements anyway. How many solo mag covers did she even have before or after the dispute? How many editorials. She wasn't that in demand in Korea.

The Nicole going to school was a bad idea all around which was why it was cancelled.  Aside from that she did have solo interviews like the one on EBS Star English (which is a bilingual talk show) and you make it sound like lasting a full year on Star Golden Bell doing her Level with Me portion of the show from 2008-2009 as she learned Korean better is nothing. She was also on Good Sunday - Heroes from 2010 until the show ended after 40 episodes in 2011.  Mr. Lee had his aneurysm in 2010 and after the contract dispute in 2011 with Ms. Choi, all of a sudden Nicole had no other solo activities once Heroes ended because she wasn't in demand?  Ok, whatever.

Nicole never said anything about the members being divided against each other, the media were the ones saying that, no one in the group said a damn thing (even though their parents did). Also, if you bother even reading about the lawsuit it happened because DSP did not communicate to the members what was going on properly.  They had been misinformed about their Japanese promotions (which was the cause of the money dispute) and whenever they asked DSP questions, they never got answers and instead were just given what they had to do next.  Pretty sure after 2 more years of working like that along with Nicole getting injured while performing at one of their arena concert she'd had enough.

At the very least what should be obvious is that Ms. Choi and Nicole had problems with each other, the situation never improved, and Nicole left.  And I'm saying it was never about the money because if it really was, Nicole wouldn't have left because she'd stand to make more money staying in KARA and putting up with b.s. than going solo at a company where the CEO is her old manager before he was fired (along with most of the staff loyal to Mr. Lee when Ms. Choi took over).

If you don't care what the other members of KARA think about Nicole, how can you say that what Nicole did dragged KARA's name through the mud if the other actual members of the group don't think so?  Makes me wonder why you even bother responding about Nicole in the first place.
