My name is CL and I’m the Korean Barbie.

« I was just a Korean little girl with her ripped jeans on while singing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody†in her room and now here I am, in Milan, for the fashion week. It’s just like the start of a completely new life.»

She is CL (her real name’s Lee Chaerin) she’s 23 and she’s a singer from the girl group 2NE1. Her voice is the latest that the Korean music scene is ready to export to the world.

Do you remember PSY? That youtube’s billion views phenomenon? Someone says she would become even more famous. Meanwhile K-POP has a lot of Italian fans. CL arrived in Italy attending Moschino’s fashion show for the Capsule Collection Think Pink, designed by Jeremy Scott and inspired by Barbie.

« Jeremy is simply in my destiny. He’s a friend of mine, I always attend his shows and five years ago he designed my whole outfit for our first MV. It’s incredible. » CL says, still excited for the shooting.

«For me, music and fashion are complementary, they are two different types of language that talk about the same feelings. »

Scott “got married†with KPOP years ago and made 2NE1 as his models, wearing the girls for their first World Tour.

Right now CL is preparing her first solo album, that could be (finally) in English. This change could make her a global star, after the collaboration with Skrillex and the incursion in the fashion world.

She’s not saying her solo album will be all in English, but she’s smiling, repeating us that this is just the start of a new life and she says: « my real Korean name was too difficult to pronounce abroad. »

While singing Queen’songs with her ripped jeans on, she was already thinking on how to conguer the world.

Maybe the author is just assuming she will? I don't know. I'm anticipating her solo though, sounds interesting.

she should learn how to rap in korean first

And maybe learn not to appropriate other peoples cultures.

Because if she or YG wants to succeed, then they will have to either answer for this war crime of a music video, or face the firestorm of pundits head on.

We love hip hop, but we don't want any of those uppity niggers near our country /s

But considering how much of YG's modern history is due to the genre, I doubt we will see this ever change, at least until a major black-heritage Korean comes and actually makes a dent in the domestic market.

Queen. But no English album till yg improves his English lyrics. Still having nightmares from English can't nobody.

I thought Teddy and CL were fluent in english

she should learn how to rap in korean first

I'm more interested in her songwritting. Even though I hated Crush (the song), I loved If I Were You so much. I hope she won't just rap on her album.

TRANS:

"I was a little Korean girl with ripped jeans who used to sing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen in her room and now I'm here, in Milan, at the fashion week. Is like the start of a whole new life." Her name is CL(her real name is Lee Chaerin), has 23 years, she sings in the female quartet 2ne1 and, most importantly, she's the last voice that the music scene of South Korea is ready to export into the world.
Do you remember Psy, the phenomenon with 1 milliard views on Youtube? There are people who say that she can became even more famous. In the meantime Kpop, like 2ne1, already has lots of fans even in Italy. In Milan, CL has arrived being invited by Moschino to Capsule Collection Think Pink, that she's wearing in this photo, which was designed by Jeremy Scott and inspired by Barbie. "Jeremy is in my destiny, he's a friend, I always go to his shows and it was him who created my and my band's clothing for my first music video, 5 years ago. Now he's the stylist of Moschino and I'm here to let myself being photographed with his collection. That's incredible."tells CL, still excited by the shooting. "For me the fashion is complementary with music, they are languages that speak about same emotions."
The link between the two world for CL is just the designer of these dresses: Scott had embraced the phenomenon of Kpop years ago and choosed 2ne1 as models, dressing them  even for their first world tour. Now CL is preparing for her first album as a soloist, that can  (finally) be all in english. A turning point that will transform her into a global star, after the collaboration with Skrillex and her raid through fashion has prepared the field for her. She didn't confirm that the CD will be all in English, but smile, repeat to yourself that all this is the beginning of a new life and remember of when CL changed her name: "My real name in Korean is a bit difficult for foreigns
to pronounce." When she used to sing Queen with ripped jeans, Lee Chaerin was already thinking of how to conquer the world.

It does, in the big letters above the paragraph "Mi chiamo CL e sono la barbie coreana" (I don't speak italian but its very similar to spanish). I didn't translated it though, its from this blog http://clthebaddestfemale.com/2014/09/25/text-cls-interview-in-vanity-fair-italia-magazine-n-38-september-24-2014/. I think its just the title though, not her words, since its not quoted.
