Do you guys like Mnet XOXO Ep 1? I know it's too early to judge but I was expecting something more. It felt like a bunch of bts cuts and that's all. I actually liked Showtime format despite many think it's boring. Yeah it may be directed but I like how it still has a sense of reality show. Also, I feel like in Showtime, we can see a full ep of what they do in that one day. I don't really know what Mnet XOXO is going for. Also, is Exo planet really another different show?

I thought it was good for casual fans but boring for people like us who follow their career more closely. It focused more on stuff we already know about or don't find that interesting instead of interactions between the members. 

 

That's true. Casual fans probably like those bts where they get to see good looking images of Exo filming MVs while we, well more like myself, prefer seeing Exoderp/ruining their images.

 

I'm gonna hold my final judgement until I have seen it with subs and the whole episdoe in one go and not just 10 minute clips, but I had kind of missunderstood the shows formate from the translations from the previews and thought it would be more like showtime and not just backstage/BTS clips. But I actually like these kinds of clips, especially those where another member is filming them because I feel like they are more candid and open. I also like backstage or BTS clips in general, because I feel like they often shows more of their day to day personalities and antics than interviews and variety shows does, because they main focus is filming for example the music video, and not in trying to maintain an image (and are often filmed by other members).

And we did get some really nice BTS clips I think.   (Though I do wish we would get to see exo on some kind of mission based variety show)

 

Yeah, I should be more patient. Since Showtime kept getting better, I'll wait to see if this one is the same. Like you said, I want to see Exo being on a mission based variety show. Showtime/1st Box weren't bad either.

This show is only going to be 2 episodes is I remeber correctly. Then we have the chinese variety show to look forward to this summer. (though I think that it is only exo-m, but my top biases is in M anyway, so I'm happy)

 

Yeah, the first 2 or 3 episodes of showtime was a bit boring and stiff, but the episodes got better after that. And the first box was quite good too (but I have only seen the first 2 parts). But seeing exo on something like sesame player or something similar to what super junior did with "explorer of human body" or what it was called, would be really fun. I do not, countrary to what a lot of exo fans seems to want, see them on "Hello baby". I think the group is too big for that and I sometimes feel bad for the kids in the show.

 

Oh really? Ep 2 preview only shows Exo-K. Oh wow, they made a big news out of a 2-ep show? 

 

First box was so entertaining. Some people said it was even better than Showtime. Yeah, I also don't really want them on Hello Baby. I find that show a bit too lazy. Suju is such an entertaining group and they got a lot of funny shows back then. I think we can say that during TVXQ/Suju era, variety shows were much more hilarious. Since idols are being produced at such rapid rate, competition increases and they are becoming more stage focus. I remember it took Exo almost 2 years to be able to hold their first variety show. I can't really complain about their variety skill because compared to their sunbaes, who were trained for radio/variety skills, they are still new to this side of the entertainment.

I thought First Box was better than Showtime but I still get that obviously scripted feeling that almost ruins the entire thing. It's a shame SM has to be so controlling because while I'm sure that are members who would be quiet regardless of being told to do so, you can see clearly how some others are holding back or acting awkward because they can't act like themselves on screen. Like you said, I can understand why they do this but it's still a shame.

 

I watched Hello Baby with SHINee and thought it was hilarious so I'm all for EXO doing it but I think it would be smarter if K has one baby to take care of and M has another instead of them all having to take care of one. The basic premise of the show already has so much potential the artists don't even have to try to make it entertaining so it would be good for them. 

 

Really? I didn't get that scripted feeling but I understand, like you said, that many members seemed to be too held back. I don't really know what goes bts but their managers must have been controlling as heck. There was a person behind their door in Showtime ep 9. I guess Exo hasn't gotten used to be all out yet. I think the only person who really let go of his image was Kris, but that was also for the sake of the show and I bet it was also exaggerated for SM wanted to sell a different image for him. Speaking of scripted, I remember shows like old shows Family Outing, Xmen, Love letters, WGM...etc. those were super scripted too. They were super funny but totally scripted. Maybe I was too used to those shows that made me find Showtime one of the less scripted ones. It's more like it's directed instead of scripted. 

 

I think the only HB season I watched was SNSD's and I really liked it. But still, I didn't enjoy some episodes where they literally did nothing but sit around the baby and looked super tired. If Exo were to be on HB, I also think they should get two kids and compete to see which group take care of the child better. That would be sorta like a mission based show as well.

I'm not sure if the new really was big, more as we got all the promos show on the channel translated and I think fandom might ha hyped this a bit too much. I am not a 100 % sure of the "only 2 episodes" thing because I heard it from another fan, and didn't bother to check for a source, but it didn't sound so "taken out of the air" concidering this show is supposed to be about their comback stage.

 

First box was more... free, I think, at least where they hung out in hong kong (?) I think it was and the cake making challange, but  some segments from part 1 still felt a bit stiff to me. I am personally loving episode 7 of showtime the most because of the focus on china line (though a little more of Lay wouldn't have hurt...) and because of Tao being a curious child in an adults body.

 

Suju is a bunch of dorks who didn't seem to have any restrictions on themselves in maintaining any kind of mature image from the beginning, but yeah, the market was not as saturated with idols that time as it is now so there where more variety shows for individuall groups. Exo is as you said , new to variety and not all of them seems to have n inborn talent for being funny on camera. I guess we'll have to give them some time to grow in that area.

 

 

 

Regardless, I don't really mind if it's a short show. It doesn't feel like a long show anyway. 

 

Yeah, that segment in HK was so fun to watch. I love it when Exo-K got to explore Chinese culture. Oh ep 7 is called Taotime. I always called it a Tao episode. He was literally oozing too much cuteness in that episode. 

 

I feel like by this point, Suju members, esp. Heechul, are done with SME. It's just a matter of time that they get out. Exo still has such a long way to go and they seemed like lost sheeps most of the time.

It’s been 5 years, changes are quite big huh? Honestly, I haven’t forgotten about you all.
Even with this job, I can’t seem to get rid of this habit of updating my entries and default pictures.

Doesn’t matter, this is my habit, you guys know how I am.
It feels good to watch you as you guys grow, wanting to spend everyday with you, working and eating together.
But I can’t do that now just yet, I envy you; I always say this when I see you.
Now days no matter what I do, many people are always commenting on it, good or bad.
At first I wasn’t used to it, but now its nothing out of the norm.
Short three days, those three days were the fastest of my life, at least that how it felt to me, hehe.
It felt like I was just a normal person with no worries, so happy so happy. Because you guys were by my side.
Mom and dad said its been quiet at home since I left too, seems that way.

This message to his friends is really sweet, especially that part to Chen. I think Chen is the guy we can see him haning out with together with Sehun from when they went to Qingdau this January. Seems like they are very close friends at the very least.

 

 

Todays performance where Tao did not flip actually do make me worry that his back is acting up again. Especially when watching the interview that was after. He looked uncomfortable in the beginning, maybe he was just out of breath, but I thought he looked a bit pained.

 

 

 

 

Yes, he is. Chen is the deaf friend whom Tao learned sign language for. I found my new brotp, Taochen (not jongdae) haha. Oh and did he? I didn't really watch the interview but saw some gifs. I thought Tao was just being his spaced out self. It could be since Tao wouldn't stop something unless it's really that bad but it could also be because they only needed him to do the flip in the first few performances. I mean, K performance doesn't necessarily need the flip.

I remember watching episode 9 of showtime, during the silent 007 game. I was wondering what Tao was signing because it did not look like random gesturing so I thought that he might speak some sign language at least.  And apparently he does.

Hey guys, I have a question. Usually I only share Tao pictures in this thread. By that, I mean I share only pictures that have only Tao in them. As for pictures of Tao + other members, I would share them in the couple threads. Since I figured not many people know/have time to look for every single Tao pairing thread, do you guys want me to share them here as well? Just a thought.
