Man, I was going through the some old threads and it really pisses me off how people here sleep on Tao's rapping but praise Chanyeol to the high heavens like he has something besides a deep voice. 

 

OH is at the bottom of my list in terms of fairness and constructive criticisms. If a member is loved by majority in here, they're praised to the high heavens. If not, they're be trash talked endlessly. It happened to Kris and Tao the most among Exo members. I don't get why I'm still in this forum. Probably because of this small threads. 

 

Anyway, I do think Chanyeol has more than just a deep voice. I don't study music but I can tell he has that flow that Taoris, especially Kris, lacked more. His clarity is also a strong point. What he lacked, in my opinion, is his attitude and uniqueness. He can sound a little bit bland (from Baby Don't Cry) while I feel Tao's delivery of the rap told a story better. Anyway, I think maybe because Korean language doesn't have intonation which is more appealing to International fans (I'm talking about Americans). Chinese rap is a lot different and less appealing to the general public because it has a lot of intonation in the language itself. It can even come off as weird to some people and rap is still new niche to China. Tao has a lot of swag and attitude in his rap. He doesn't necessarily overdone it like Kai. It's a moderate attitude yet appealing to me. I think Kris growls way too much (esp. live) sometimes and it's hard to understand him in any language. I don't think Kris is useless at all in Exo, but I do think that he should find a new niche. It also didn't help when he's pushed as the main rapper of Exo-M, which he couldn't live up the name. I think that Tao should have been the main rapper because that would give him more opportunity to shine and to have that incentive to practice and grow more as a rapper. I don't think he is as good as Chanyeol, but definitely not that far behind. He has a lot of potential and I feel like Tao has that it factor. Too bad SM favoritism plays into the group too heavily and he won't change anything. 

 

Anyway, don't take too much consideration into those vocal and rap thread. I know they're more "professional" but we have ears too. We can judge for ourselves. They can be way too critical and I don't know what standard they are placing these idols on. I just know that these young folks are talented and hard workers. It took so much effort to get where they are right now and here, we have people who call them talentless or useless or even lucky to be in a popular group.

I love both their voices. I don't even know how to describe Tao's voice, but I love it. I like the bass in Chanyeol's voice too. I think for most girls, they are attracted to the masculinity of the voice, so even though the rapping might not be excellent, they are biased towards it and rate it as better than what it probably is. It's more an attraction to chanyeol's voice than his actual rapping talents. But he's not that bad. I think he and Tao are both really good. 

 

Both of them get lots of hate here for no reason. He, Luhan and Tao. It's like a continual "hate him" or "overrated' fest whenever one of their names pops up. Sometimes I feel like Chanyeol should be in M with all the hate he gets on here....

 

Anyways, I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Tao can take a dead on full frontal photo and still be stunning!! That is talent people! I just adore his feline features. they photograph so well. 

 

Tao's voice is so raspy in a good way. It just brings into rap new flavor. I didn't know Chanyeol was hated that much. At least, I didn't see it much on OH now. Kris, Tao and Xiumin still are.

 

is kris really consider the main rapper in m cuz i always thought tao was. l love kris but his skills don't live up to being the main rapper.

 

but anyways, tao's rap in overdose was probably the highlight of the song to me! i loved it wayyyyy too much!

 

That's his status really. Tao is in charge of the fast rap and he's pretty much replacing Kris in that position just like how Chanyeol did to Sehun with the visual "position". 

 

Definitely, I love Tao's rap so much. What I love more was his attitude right after he finished the rap. My sig. LOL

 

I don't see how Chanyeol has any more flow than Tao though. All the long chinese raps he gets sound really cool to my american ears, maybe thats why I like it more. A little more foreign than the kpops. Though what you said about chinese rap being less appealing is true, and they want deep voiced rappers and Tao goes against that his is pretty high pitched voice. 

 

I also like how Tao tries to really be a rapper, or at least he really does view himself as one. 

 

 

I don't know, at the end of the day they are idol rappers talking fast and I love Tao, thanks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tao's rapping grew on me tremendously and I feel like he is also a great performer. He has the confidence when it comes to rapping. And not to forget his passion. Even when his English and Korean pronunciation are off, he would still carry on. That overflowing confidence was what make Tao's performance a highlight. I like how you end it (bold). LOL

I agree. I feel like I can't give opinions freely sometimes, and I see a lot of people negged just because their opinion is not popular with majority of the users here. (What is higher up in your list though?)

 

I really like Chanyeol's rapping, tbh. He's got the skill...He has the ability to rap the fastest rap in Korea all by himself (when in the original one you have the track or someone who raps it with you).

 

I don't think Kris is useless either. He does the bass in Exo-M (come to think about it, no one for except him has a really deep voice), and imo he's singing is okay. I wonder if SM is obstructing his singing progress by pushing him into rapping..he probably has the ability to sing well if he's more trained. Same with Tao and the rest of the M members. Tao's voice in First Snow and Baby First Step is amazing...it totally stunned me. He rarely sings, but I can tell he has a pretty decent voice, even though he is not trained enough on his vocals to bring softness to the notes. 

 

He doesn't have a really deep voice, but I find it cute. It's not deep for rapping, but actually, it's not that high or anything either; his voice is sort of the same as, for example, Luhan's.

+1 to you on your pointing out of the Chinese intonations. Actually, it's the Chinese intonations that made me like the Chinese versions of Exo's songs...it makes it sound really sexy for some reason. Nvm. But anyway, some people probably aren't used it, or some just do not like it...hence the international fans' predilection for the Korean versions.  Plus, the Chinese version had to kind of follow the Korean version, so sometimes the lyrics weren't made to sound the best.

Yeah, plus Exo's MV news, search ranking, and stuff like that is going to be together with the news and info of the ferry accident...netizens might get mad again. Plus it's going to look pretty bad. 

 

Sometimes, I'm scare to post a Tao's appreciation thread just because I know there will be some stupid comments left on them. Also, Tao doesn't have that many fans to comment anyway. But I will always support those Appreciation thread for Tao made by others. We needs to show them Tao has stans. 

 

No, I actually find the intonation appealing and growing on me. I don't like listening to rap (esp English ones). Tao's raps make me like rap. Anyway, I think it's unappealing to many others but I like it. I find it unique and different. 

 

Oh and, what's up on my list? I really haven't figured out yet. I just know OH is not like how I imagined it to be. Tumblr is my safe haven because I don't have to deal with bs. There's only me and my followers who share the same love for Tao.

Tao is very objectively handsome and people know it. Kris and Sehun both get hated on for being "ugly". The first most popular search term on google if you type in: "exo kris is" is "exo kris is ugly"

 

KRIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT UGLY. Plus research shows that the more good looking someone is, the more likely people will disagree on their looks. A study done on Okcupid showed that for the hottest women, men would rate their looks on the extreme ends of the spectrum. They would either say she was super pretty or super ugly. For mediocrely cute women, most men would agree that she was around a 7.

 

Interesting research. Sighs, if KrisTaoHun are ugly then I don't know what am I.

There was a poll done on allkpop of who was the ugliest member in each kpop group and for exo D.O was the winner. IMO allkpop is a lot less biased. I still think D.O is cute!

 

Really? DO is cute. Anyway, beauty is subjective and the visual ranking is not absolute. I'm just mad when people say someone is ugly when clearly they are not. They haven't seen real ugly people.

Sehun and Kris are REALLY good-looking…to me, anyway. Even though Kris is manly, he's still a flower boy according to his looks and compared to the non-flowerboy idols. 

 

I actually consider Chen really attractive, but then his hair change ruined all his MAMA era beauty…same with Sehun's parted blond hair. If Sehun had kept his rainbow/pink/brown hair, he would've been even more popular, instead of decreasing his popularity due to his MID hair. 

 

I agree about Tao being extremely good-looking. Fan taken pics of other idols made them look less attractive, but it's actually the opposite for Tao.     Anyway…he's got nice angles.

I usually think of my bias list as Tao, rest of exo-m, suho, rest of exo-k, so I'd say it's probably pretty close to the truth at the moment.

 

Luhan is after Suho on your list though. But lol we all stan Exo M over Exo K. Ours are pretty close.

When I first saw the ranking I was surprised too since I didn't see the other 4 members were also #1 I have a huge soft spot for Kai since he was my first bias but then I noticed Chanyeol and Chen and started liking them just as much. Tao and Kris are a tiiiiny bit lower than them but I consider them my bias too. 

 

Aw, I love Sehun. It's just that I also love all the members and the fact he doesn't add a lot to the group (although I don't consider him useless) ended up being a deal breaker.  

 

Oh I see. Yeah, the ranking isn't really 100% accurate. I tried it three times (really fast) and they changed except the top 4. I knew it, I feel like Taoris are your 2nd. Chanyeol and Chen have so much personality so I can see why they wrecked your list. I saw you in Baekchen thread a lot girl. 

 

I get what you mean. Sehun can be a little...boring? I don't know, not boring. He's actually so much fun for those who like subtle and effortless gestures. He's so funny but he's actually too quiet in interviews.

I thought something was wrong when I copied the list into the post, so I corrected all similar numbers by hand.    They might actually have shared place, I am quite certain tha Sehun and Kai did at least.)

Aw, I actually really like his personality and think he's hilarious but if we look at it as objectively as possible it wouldn't make that much difference if he wasn't part of EXO (at least not IMO, no offense to Sehun fans). He's the best dancer on K besides Kai but he's also the laziest one when it comes to performances. He definitely has potential and talent but this separates him from other members to me.

 

Everyone has their own opinion. I keep hearing about Sehun being a lazy dancer and I'm not sure why since I don't follow Exo-K's activities. I also don't watch Sehun's focus fancams. However, from what I saw I never thought he comes off as a lazy dancer. I'll keep an eye on that. But for me, when I think about it, Exo could have been a much smaller group if we really want a talented group. However, each member brings so much flavor to the group and I feel like that's what make them Exo. Like I can relate this to Kris and how he is also not musically talented, but his leadership, his sense of humor and variety, his look, and his general existence just add so much to the group. I can't imagine knowing or stanning Exo without Kris in the first place.
