There is always Stage48. I guess the inactivity has to do with the re-organization. Late last year, they had a board shuffle which eventually lead to the drastic re-organization of the company AKS. The group still will suffer the inactivity continuation due to COVID-19 and Olympics throughout this year. We'll have to wait and see if there is any big positive change in next year. At very least, AKB has positively evolved with internet usage. Also, SKE's agency seemingly has been putting much effort to push the group and the whole 48 franchise. I am a recent fan (post-produce48). I started to accompany them through their own variety shows. (you get to know the members, they are all very charismatic, until one totally catches you and becomes your oshi / bias) I started by watching AKBingo, so Yamamoto Sayaka hooked me. Then I found out that she was part of a sister group of Namba (NMB48). So I watched the variety shows of this group (like NMB48 geinin!) All the Akbingo raw episodes and soft subs.
