CreepyPanda 5,157
Okay so I'm writing a scene analysis essay on the Merchant of Venice, act III scene II, where Bassanio chooses the correct casket and is betrothed to Portia. I am basing my paragraphs on three different themes, choice, love and justice. I have already written the paragraph for choice, but I am struggling with the other two. The prompt is 'How does this scene create meaning to the audience in relation to the rest of the play?' and I am supposed to make reference to how an Elizabethan audience might react to events in the scene. Any ideas as to what I could put into my essay? I'm looking for particular quotes/parts of the scene and ideas on how to turn that into a body paragraph of 200-300 words.
