Haven't posted in here in a while T^T

May 15th, 2016 was actually N*White's 1000th Day since their debut... It sucks how they were never able to celebrate any milestones/birthdays/holidays with fans in person, during the short time they were actually active.

No word on what the girls are up to music/career-wise. However, Subin and Soohyun seem to be doing well in general, based on their IG updates. Hakyung has gone missing :( She deleted her Facebook, and she hasn't posted anything on IG, since last month. Hopefully she's doing okay and is just taking a break from SNS.

Anyways, the original reason I wanted to post something was because "Only You Know" is available on Dance Up, which is a mobile game/app (only available in Korea? I can't find it on the Play Store, where I am)

The views on the lyrics video suddenly started increasing the past few months, and now I get why! lol I wonder how the song even got picked to be in the game?

N*white released one of my favorite songs of all time. It's so sad to see them gone, they were my favorite rookie group.  Just wanted to say thanks for all the memories you've given me with your two releases and I'll never stop loving Subin.

Just curious, which song? Thank you for being a fan! ^^ Still breaks my heart knowing how their time as trainees was disproportionately wayyy longer than the time they spent as an active group :(

Last week, I came across Hakyung's model profile. Seems like it hasn't been updated in a while and was posted a long time ago, since Moorim School and The Eccentric Daughter-in-Law aren't listed under the Drama section. These photos look like headshots for acting auditions?? I asked a K-fan if he knew anything about the company or how recent the pictures were, and he said Hakyung posted some of them on her Facebook and some were used for her Naver profile; the other models appear to be active TV announcers, actresses, etc.

Still don't know if any of the members are signed to new companies or what they're up to music/entertainment-wise. They've all been super low-key. However, Subin said "I promise to sing again."  in one of her recent IG posts. Come back soon, Subin unnie! ;~;

Hello Boy is in my top 50 of all time and Paradise is in my top 100 of all time (so I guess both releases are something special to me). Hello Boy is my most listened to song of all time and I have a poster of N*White in my room from Hello Boy promotions. It holds a special place in my heart.

That's awesome! You seem to be one of the most dedicated N*White fans I've come across, in a while. It's really fascinating! ^^ How did you discover them? Honestly, the N*White fan experience hasn't been the easiest nor the most fun... What made you stay loyal to the group after all this time? What do you wish they could've accomplished before they... went separate ways?

You don't get blinded by the bright pink?! haha I'm still butthurt the Paradise mini didn't come with a poster :( The one they had hanging in their practice room looked super pretty.

N*White debuted earlier than many of today's trending rookie girl groups, and many of their songs are kind of in the same vein, so I often wonder how things would've turned out had they been able to promote Hello Boy on music shows and if Lina stayed, back then...

Sorry for the late response, I discovered N*White through a monthly series Mechagodzilla15 posted (he doesn't make videos anymore). For some reason, I just couldn't stop playing that song over and over again. I'm such a huge fan for many reasons. I loved both of their songs and I think Paradise showed their potential to one day be considered a famous girl group even though I personally liked Hello Boy more.  However, their company sucked and did a horrible job promoting them.  If they promoted Hello Boy on music shows, it would have helped them significantly more, but I still think they wouldn't have gotten instant success. Subin is one of my ultimate biases of all time.  I liked them because they focused on producing good innocent music instead of getting lost in the glamour of Kpop that has been happening a lot lately. I think their cute concept seemed more natural than thousands of other good girl groups for some reason.  It think their vocals were great and they were a breathe of fresh air.  But, now they're gone :(

And yeah that poster is really pink. Before they disbanded, I would have liked people to know they actually existed as a group and had moderate success. They were my favorite nugu.

This song of theirs is good too!

It's always fascinating to hear how people become fans of groups. Where have you been all this time?! T^T I relate so much! Especially, how you simply wanted them to become known and be somewhat successful. You seem like my long lost N*White fan kindred spirit. Forgive me for this essay of a reply!.. it's so long I have to hide it in a spoiler >.<

I came across their Fairy Tale mini by chance, while I was browsing K2N (for TTS's mini? Looking at my library, they were added on the same day lol) I thought the cover was pretty, so I went to look up the title song on YT. As I watched the "Hello Boy" MV, I was struck by how it reminded me of SNSD's "Kissing You" /KARA's "Baby Boy" /APINK's "Bubibu" (songs that will forever be my shamelessly cute K-Pop holy grail). Then I made the mistake of looking at the comments... it made me frustrated how the members were essentially being demeaned for the usual dumb reasons nugu groups are hated on. I vowed to support them the way I do with most nugu girl groups - from afar, staying up to date with their music, not getting too invested... But there was just something about them that made me want to get to know them more. Their long history, despite them being a "new" group, and unique member structure ("what?! a maknae-leader-main vocal?!) was so intriguing. I joined their fancafe and posted "I'm int'l fan, I can't wait to see you debut on music shows, etc.", in embarrassingly bad Korean (They were supposedly debuting and releasing their physical mini album the week after, so I thought they were going to make the usual music show rounds T^T) I was extremely touched by the members efforts to respond; their messages were brimming with sincerity... At that moment, they became THE nugu group - the one I would blindly and desperately stan (by myself if that's what is was going to take!) with all my heart. I bought their physical mini as soon as I could.

Then, a few days later, Soohyun appeared on Hidden Singer. Taeyeon's episode, no less! Holy crap, what a huge opportunity for Soohyun and all of N*White to become known! I previously had some experience running YouTube channels for other groups, so I wanted to make cuts of her appearance so other fans could watch. Thus, the "aenhwaiteu" channel was born. Then I figured, "Oh, I'm going to need to spread the word about N*White!" - the Twitter and Tumblr were created shortly thereafter. At that time, I had absolutely no idea I'd be running what would basically become N*White's only active fan resource *__* (...Sometimes I think maybe if I had done more, the girls would've become more known and have more fans... I don't know how to explain it, there's always that lingering feeling of incompleteness)

I totally get your point about the cuteness of music seeming more natural. I really appreciated how they never tried to sing in cute groups' traditional "aegyo style" (I love me some shameless cute stuff tho) but instead focused on displaying the strength of their individual voices and harmonies. Their vocal performance, paired with ZigZagNote's excellent production, made their music very enjoyable to listen to. There was always something new and fresh about their songs that became apparent with every listen, even after looping them tons of times. The fact that Soohyun wrote all the lyrics also added to their charm.

Actually, I just recently talked to Jaewoo-nim (basically one of the most dedicated N*White K-fans ever). He said their manager told him Soohyun's notebook was FULL of lyrics that she wrote, and that she really did write all of N*White's lyrics, personally. She wanted to learn how to compose so she could make music for N*White. Subin was also just starting to write lyrics more, as well... Can you imagine how much of themselves they poured into N*White, all those years? It kills me... That and knowing that there were possibly many songs they conceived but they hadn't yet recorded... songs they were going to record... even songs they had already recorded but were never able to release which were then possibly given to other groups?..

April's "Wake Up", which was also produced by ZigZagNote, feels like it was originally an N*White song... Of course, no one would know who it was meant for besides the producers. I loveeee April dearly (unnecessary proof: Yena is my favorite, even though she's viewed as the "useless" member T^T), but I can easily hear Subin, Hakyung, and Soohyun's voices whenever I listen to it... It's probably just coincidence, but April's Spring mini album/Tinkerbell concept seems reminiscent of Paradise's concept, too (I believe Chocolat was the first group to do something Peter and Wendy/Tinkerbell inspired, though? A more dark/strong concept). I can totally imagine them singing PD101/Girls On Top's "In The Same Place", as well... they would've owned it! Maybe I'm just crazy lol

I resent their company so much. They'll forever be on my blacklist (along with DSP and CUBE). It's astounding how they were able to find such awesomely talented members, make amazing music and MVs... but were absolutely terrible at management and promotion. I'm still shocked they weren't able to get Tenyard to at least nugu-level Tier 6 or something. They're a guy group so it should've been easier for them to become more well-known, much quicker than N*White. It's sad because main vocal line was
. I wanted to see them do a collab with N*White so badly :( They had everything to become the younger 4Men. If not that, they would at least be giving Voisper a run for their money right now!

I hope we hear some good news about their individual activities soon... I miss them so much.

I could go on and on about the tragedy of N*White haha I'm going to remember you as Subin's #1 fan, Hopkinz! :D If you have a message (a.k.a. confession of your love) you want to share, I'll try to pass it on to her. I'm sure it will brighten her day.

Speaking of messages -- Everyone! It's going to be N*White's 3rd Debut Anniversary on 8/19/2016. Unfortunately, creating and sending them a message book isn't feasible. However, all of the members have been known to occasionally visit the fancafe (even now). If you'd like to write something but you're not a member of the fancafe, I can share it on your behalf. Sadly, my ability to translate from English to Korean isn't the best... They seem to understand English pretty well, so it shouldn't be that big of an issue if I just post the text? Let me know before August arrives~

Really? You could tell her!!! Tell her that I think she has a beautiful singing voice and is really pretty and that I would actually start crying if she re-entered the music scene and that she is one of my ultimate biases.

And also I read your "essay," I think you're being to hard on yourself.  You went above and beyond what any Kpop group would have expected, and I'm sure the girls are very grateful for all your hard work. LOL I went on that tumblr page alot. That's the website when I first heard about Soohyun's departure :(. That April song really does have N*White vibes. I like April a lot too. I liked their debut a lot, Muah! was okay, Snowman is my favorite Christmas Kpop song ever, and Tinker Bell is my 2nd favorite after Dream Candy. Also ChoColat is awesome, I really like Black Tinkerbell. Anyways, enough about them. WOW there is so much I learned about N*White, it's kinda tragic. I don't think I'll ever like a cute-concept group as much as them. I wish they moved companies before disbanding. Also, as much as I missed Lina after her departure, I liked the three members. That's a weird number you don't see to often in Kpop groups.  I run a YouTube channel and I promote many underrated groups. I have a series called "Criminally Underrated Kpop Songs" and Hello Boy is in part 2 and Paradise is in part 10.  Also, I said Hello Boy was in my top 5 debuts of all time (even though it is actually #2 I have decided). They were just something else and I miss them almost as much as KARA (my bias group). I remember telling my Kpop friends to listen to N*white music and they all fell in love with them.  Thanks so much for letting me know!

Your Subin admiration is so endearing, I'd love to show her! You already told me what you want to say...but can you write your message like you're writing a letter? (so she's able to tell you posted it) It'll look nicer if I send her a screen cap ^^

Thank you. I wasn't expecting to have to share such sad news :( I always thought it was so interesting how they streamed their training sessions and interacted with fans before they debuted. Not many groups do that (I'm still wondering where all those fans went!) If they were still together now, they'd be pros at hosting V Live shows. Hakyung would be really great MC for music shows, too. It seemed like they were going to be around for the long haul, after returning with Paradise... But then they just faded away. I'm upset N*White never got the opportunities even the most nugu of groups do... Just seeing them performing at random events would've made me so happy. If they can't get back together at a new company, I hope they each find success on their own paths. I think most fans who followed the group for a good amount of time consider the three members the "real" N*White, so you're not alone. It would've been nice to see them promote as they were originally intending as 4. We never got to see Hello Boy live :( Yeah, there aren't that many three-member groups that have come up recently. Now it's trendy for groups to have tons of members. Purfles, Lush... I can't recall any other groups that have started as three in the past couple years.

Oh really? I'll have to check your channel out ^^ //shamelessly plugs current nugu faves Bloomy// What?! KARA are my ultimate girl group bias, too!! When I found out Subin knew Hara and Doojoon (BEAST is my ultimate group bias) my mind exploded. This fancam will forever be one of my faves

I was so mad at myself for not finding find out about N*White in 2013 , when they were probably the most active. I must've been too busy fangirling over KARA and BEAST XD  How have you holding up? I swear the K-Pop gods are just testing us in 2016.

I asked Jaewoo-nim if the girls possibly took a leave of absence while they were with N*White and went back to college. He said Subin and Hakyung had already graduated (before debut?) Not sure if Soohyun went/is going to school? Just waiting for them to drop some news...

They disbanded :O?

Sadly yes T^T Their company never put forth a formal announcement, but the group has indeed dissolved. Yay for J&J Entertainment being reliably terrible at communicating information, and basically everything else their job entails, until the very end! :D

Summary of their disbandment:

In late 2015, Soohyun seemingly disappeared from SNS (no IG posts, no fancafe posts when she had been posting fairly regularly before) and was glaringly absent from the other members' updates for a long period of time. All of J&J Entertainment's artists attended the  Sbenu x Manchester United "Redvolution" event on November 20, 2015... but in N*White press photos, only Subin and Hakyung were present  That last tag... I was already having ominous feelings T^T

Fast forward to January 2016 - Still no sighting of Soohyun on SNS. Hakyung and Subin made a cameo on
, broadcast on January 10 (filmed in November 2015). Soohyun does not appear and is replaced by their choreographer. After Soohyun missed two of N*White's biggest schedules/events in months, fans became very worried and voiced their concerns on the fancafe. Hoping to clear the air and ease other fans' minds, a K-fan named Jaewoo-nim called the company to see what's going on. The girls' manager informed him that Soohyun was no longer with J&J Entertainment. Jaewoo-nim relayed this information to other fans on the fancafe on January 20, 2016.

As the admin of one of N*White's only int'l fansites, I wanted to be absolutely sure before I made an announcement. I DM'ed Jaewoo-nim for more info; he only asked the manager if Soohyun was still at J&J Ent. I then DM'ed Amy-nim (the admin of a K-fansite CODE N WHITE) to ask if it was really true Soohyun left N*White. She revealed she was also super shocked after seeing Jaewoo-nim's fancafe post, she immediately DM'ed Soohyun through Instagram. Amy-nim told me that Soohyun said she left "due to company circumstances". I pressed Amy-nim for further information (whose decision was it for Soohyun to withdraw?) but she could only say, "I don't know if Soohyun wanted to leave or the company told her to, Soohyun's plans are unknown, N*White still exists, no clue if new members will be added, but the company's circumstances are really bad right now, we'll just have to wait" etc... Soohyun never said goodbye ;(

For the next few months, Hakyung and Subin shared IG updates about various activities (practice, going to the shop to get their hair and makeup done, etc.), occasionally tagging some with #nwhite and implying comeback preparation was in the works.

Skip to April - On the 9th, Subin removed "N*White" from her bio and posted a pic from the filming of the Paradise MV with a message expressing thankfulness and feeling sorry. She also mentioned "being a free person" in another update. Realizing she was announcing her departure from N*White, I DM'ed Subin to thank her for all she's done, wish her well, and ask if she would like me to relay a message to int'l fans on her behalf ("I’m sorry I couldn’t protect N*White, until the end. I’ll prepare so that I can continue to do music and future activities.") Two days later, Hakyung also removed "N*White" from her bio and added a short but meaningful message ("I was happy and thankful, all this time. Thank you for all those years..!").

N*White "technically" disbanded on April 11, 2016. But N*White we all came to love... the N*White was finally able to debut on music shows, nearly 2 years after debut... was pretty much already over with Soohyun's departure in October 2015 T-T

Jaewoo-nim sent me this screenshot~

Kang Sira (of Produce 101/Girls On Top) liked Soohyun's most recent pic on IG, a few days ago! It's always wonderful to see them interact after Hidden Singer ^-^ Besides N*White reuniting, seeing Soohyun and Sira sing a duet (maybe covering a Taeyeon song?!) is one of my dreams *-*

Sira went on to PD101 and is debuting soon, Soohyun was active with N*White, Hwanhee won and appeared in the Hidden Singer finals... It's kind of sad how #5 and the girl who got eliminated first (iirc she didn't even get interviewed?) disappeared after the show.

Letter to Subin:

Dear Subin,

I've been such a a huge fan of yours since Hello Boy.  When I first heard that song, I thought that N*White would one day become a popular group.  Every song that N*White released was amazing.  You always seemed happy to be on stage and that is something I admire in a performer.  I remember when I heard N*White disbanded, I felt like crying.  Even though N*white may be over, I will still support all the members, especially the beautiful and talented Subin! Thanks for the great music. I hope that one day you can sing again because I miss hearing your voice.

Sincerely,

Alex

Thanks so much, by the way you're a Gardener too! I loved Bloomy's debut a lot. I got some N*White vibes from it actually. I hope they can return stronger than ever.
