A few months ago I would've said Naomi easily, but now that she's being forced into an early retirement, does that mean Kyary inherits the throne by default? Since the other 3 are either on indefinite hiatus or just not popular anymore?

I think so. Who can deny her with quality hits like these?

This shitty-ass song will make u a fan

(@ 0:21 onwards I know she's saying "serious" but I can't help but hear "shi-shi-shi-shitty ass"  )

Kyary's been flopping recently even within her core market which is digital sales.

Female soloists have been flopping in general. Kyary's sales are fair considering the current state of the market, but none of them are getting as much international press and fan support as Kyary. Kyary is undeniably the current face of J-Pop worldwide.

I wouldn't say her sales are fair even when considering the market's current state, exposure doesn't necessarily translate into popularity, although I do agree that she does have a very vocal and loyal international fanbase.

Who told you she's retiring? That's just tabloid talk. She's already announced her 2015 tour.

This flop attempt at shade.

Utada, Ayu, Namie, and Koda have more talent at their worst than Kyary at her best. Shoot even Utada was able to outsell Kyary while on hiatus.

The only people who think Kyary is queen are too simple and distracted easily by bright colors.

Didn't her last album flop though?

Yes.

Female soloists who've had studio albums out in the past year or so who have outsold Kyary's: Namie, JUJU, aiko, miwa, Takeuchi Mariya, and Nana Mizuki. Nishino Kana will be joining this club when she releases her November album but everyone already knows that if we were to crown a new generation JPop queen, it would be Kana.

The only people who think Kyary is really big are people who don't actually know the market.

And Kyary's been flopping digitally even with big promo pushes like multiple Music Station performances for her singles.
