nobody answers this thread, I think, but I'll try anyway...

can someone recommend me a new drama (from 2011-2015) where nobody dies? hahah I'm kinda traumatized by these things.

the genre doesn't matter. I'd really appreciate any recommendation.  :) thanks!

It is so hard to watch a film/drama that doesn't involve romance, very unique to Korean comedy, and cliche story lines. I feel like there aren't many options available once you watched the typical recommendations. I enjoy watching adventure/crime/suspense/drama/intellectual or cerebral mind play.

this is kinda a late reply but i just happened to cross this post

I really enjoyed Ghost and I'd recommend it if you want to watch something without romance. they focused more on the actual crime/suspense and it's one of my favorite kdramas. another one is Nine Times Time Travel. This involved romance but not too much and I thought it had a nice balance because it had more to do with the actual main character and his problem.

oh and i'm watching hidden identity right now which I think is great so far. no romance involved, just a lot of action~

Anyone know a series or movie that's more mellow? Nothing too dark or dramatic.

49 days is a melodrama. i liked it and some parts were definitely a tearjerker. i'm not sure if pinnochio would be considered more mellow, but i thought that had a nice mix of comedy & serious moments. another one is school 2013, it talks about a group of high school students each with a different story and i thought it was relatable. i recommend this if you haven't seen it yet

My favorite drama:

-Bridal Mask (a bit dark with historical background.THE MASTERPIECE OF ALL MASTERPIECE)

-Hong Gil Dong (So good ! sad but great !)

- Kill me Heal me (Rom-com)

-It's okay it's love (rom-com. Wrecked my soul AMAZING)

-God's gift (thriller, so cute too, good drama)

-Cruel city ( a dark drama. WONDERFUL Jung kyung ho :rlytearpls: )

-Secret Love (Melodrama. Perfect acting !!)

-Tree of Heaven (too sad. not for weak heart but Shin Hye unnie was too good)

-City Hunter (thriller, action drama a bit sad for me)

Some recent Korean movies I've enjoyed are:

Socialphobia (interesting Korean indie film about social media and online bullying)

Gangnam Blues (crime starring Lee Min Ho who is surprisingly convincing as a low level gangster)

Big Match (Ridiculous but funny action movie where an MMA fighter if forced to participate in missions. It feels almost like the progression in a video game. BoA is also in this movie and portrays an ex-boxer)

A Hard Day (thriller/crime movie about a detective involved in a hit and run and his attempts to cover it up)

The Fake (a uniquely Korean animated film with corrupt or unlikeable characters in a drama set in the countryside)

The Satellite Girl & Milk Cow (Another Korean animated film that visually looks like Japanese anime but has its own sense of weirdness. It can be pretty funny)

How to use Guys with Secret Tips (horrible looking posters and trailers but in actuality a very funny rom com)

Confession of Murder (Thriller/Action that uses the statute of limitations on murder conviction to set up an intriguing story)

Masquerade (Period piece about a king who's temporarily replaced by peasant who looks like him, both played by Lee Byung Hun)

Architecture 101 (Seemingly typical but still a pretty good romantic movie with Suzy and Lee Je Hoon, coming of age set in the 90s so there's definitely some nostalgia factor)

Still pretty new to K-Drama so I would definitely love recommendations. I just finished watching You Who Came from the Stars and I loved it, so I am looking to fill that void  :rlytearpls:

So far I have only watched:
Dream High

Reply 1997

You Who Came from the Stars

I enjoy Rom-Coms (but others are fine) that have good dynamic between the leads and an entertaining supporting cast. Any recommendations?

One that I like that is currently airing is The Time I Loved You/The Time We Were Not In Love.

I dont know if I can recommend this now bcus Im still at ep 11, but now I understand why My Daughter Seoyoung was the best drama in 2012-2013, rating wise. Episode 10 pierced me so much that I need to take a break for a moment before continue to ep 11, lol.

I got a really mixed feelings when watching this. I feel like I want to slap the female lead, but I also feel like crying for her at the same time.

If you're a fan of idols who are also actors I recommend
Please Remember Princess for Infinite (Sungyeol) fans.
Hi School Love On has Sungyeol, woohyun and Baek Seung Heon in it.
Reply 1997 for Hoya fans.
Monstar for Beast (Junhyung) or BTOB fans.
My Friend Is Still Alive has Kikwang in it, and he's really good with crying scenes.
Let's Eat 1 has Dujun and Feeldog, plus the eating scenes are amazeballs!

Hi School Love On has to be the worst drama I have ever seen, stay away imo.

The latest I watched...  "I remember you", "Second times twenty years old", "Hello my teacher", "Two Outs in the Ninth Inning"

I can recommend all of these so much.. Second times twenty years old hasn't ended yet, but I hope nothing will go wrong, because it has been great so far. :ahmagah:

Hello everyone,

Hope you could give Forever Young a try, this is a very cute idol drama, a collaboration between CJ E&M Korea and VTV Vietnam...

I just created a thread about it :
