[OFFICIAL] K-Drama / K-Movie Recommendation Thread

So far only 12 episodes but Birth of a Beauty is really good. I just hope that it ends well. The description of the drama made it seem more shallow than it's turned out.

So true! This drama is so much better than the synopsis makes it to be.I'd also reccommend it.

There are so many dramas that I feel don't get enough attention. I like the ''popular'' dramas (My love from the stars, The master's sun, Pinnochio ) like everyone but some dramas need more love(at least online)!

Just to name a few:

-Smile you

-Padam Padam

-Ojakgyo brothers

-Nine Nine times time travel

-Miss Korea

-Cunning single lady

Can anyone recommend some dramas that DO NOT have love triangles? I find the whole love triangle plot device (as well as the amnesia trope) really annoying and it ruins alot of dramas for me. Surely there are some dramas out there somewhere that don't have it? Thanks!

Liar Game probably. Great cast and different plot too. Not romantic either, tbh. Not in the first season.

I'll have to check it out then. Especially if it has more than one season. Thanks

Drama Recommendations (a.k.a. my favourite Korean dramas):

Romance/Romcom:

  • Queen In Hyun's Man (+ time-travelling)
  • My Name Is Kim Sam Soon
  • My Girl
  • Me Too, Flower/I Am A Flower Too
  • Goong (Princess Hours)
  • Master's Sun (+ some horror but it wasn't that scary for me, someone who avoids horror movies.)

Crime/Investigative:

  • Vampire Prosecutor (2 seasons)
  • Special Affairs Team: TEN (2 seasons)
  • God's Quiz (4 seasons)

(Melo)Drama:

  • Baking King, Kim Tak Goo

Comedy:

  • History of a Salaryman (+ some corporate drama, romance)

Thriller/suspense:

  • Nine: Nine Time Travels (basically a time-travelling drama with romance; the time-travelling aspect was just mind-blowing for me.)

Unable-to-be-categorised (lol):

  • Let's Eat (food + some mystery + slice of life + romance...)

++ Others I enjoyed: Marriage Not Dating, The Greatest Love(Best Love), Flower Boy Next Door & City Hall.

Healer! By not having a love triangle (and many other unnecessary recurring themes in kdramas) we got to see an actual relationship between the main characters and it's sweet as hell  :rlytearpls: Plus, action and a nice story.

Haha yes Healer is great! I'm so glad there is no love triangle because I love the relationship! It is so cute! :ahmagah:

am looking for another drama to watch alongside kill me, heal me

maybe healer or misaeng?

or if both are so-so, can someone recommend me a good drama with an amazing script and solid acting

Try Damo. It seems very few peeps on dis thread have seen it but it is great, much better than many dramas mentioned here. It's Ha Ji Won breakout role. But dont take my word for it, google d reviews. Even better than Chuno, which i really liked.

If you're a fan of idols who are also actors I recommend
Please Remember Princess for Infinite (Sungyeol) fans.
Hi School Love On has Sungyeol, woohyun and Baek Seung Heon in it.
Reply 1997 for Hoya fans.
Monstar for Beast (Junhyung) or BTOB fans.
My Friend Is Still Alive has Kikwang in it, and he's really good with crying scenes.
Let's Eat 1 has Dujun and Feeldog, plus the eating scenes are amazeballs!

What are some upcoming dramas that look promising?

My Beautiful Bride

It's going on air in June. They've not picked the cast, but I'm really excited for it for these 2 reasons:

1- It's an OCN drama. Their dramas usually don't disappoint  .

2- It's written by the same screenwriter of Cruel City- a great drama imo.

Another one,Mask . This one is written by the same screenwriter of Secret Love- a masterpiece. One of the top dramas of 2012.

Anyone is watching a current airing drama? I'd like to watch some but I don't know i'd pick..... Any help?

Angry Mom is really good.

What are some upcoming dramas that look promising?

Warm and Cozy - There isn't too much info about it right now, but it's the Hong Sisters.

Ex-Girlfriend Club - starring Song Ji Hyo and Byun Yo Han. The plot makes it seem like it'll be a drama that will be so much fun to watch.

Producer - The cast. The writer. The plot. PD who's an expert on variety shows directing a drama about variety shows. It has everything needed to make a good drama.
