[OFFICIAL] K-Drama / K-Movie Recommendation Thread

Just finished Cruel City. The best drama I've ever watched. Most of the drama never had filler scenes. By the time they increased those 'thinking' shots you had already understood the character well enough that you could actually feel intense emotions during that time.

Vague spoilers
I liked how early on they have several plot twists and game changing revelations. Helped make the storyline have several things going on at the same time.
How I felt at the end
I don't normally cry in dramas and I cried about ~4 times in the last episode.
I'm still in denial about the last person that died. Ugh, I hate to admit it but I'm an emotional mess right now.

I'm still a bit disappointed that the couple only ever kissed in one episode. I wished they had been able to have more scenes etc. together even if the ending stayed the same. But I guess there was a lot of other things going on in the story so there wasn't time for it.
Any good criminal/detective shows/movies that does not have romance as the main focus? I would prefer it to not also follow the mainstream setup of a young, bright- eyed woman who has to work with a misunderstood/ curmudgeon /anti social partner. I would like a movie/show that challenges and/or makes you think. However, immense and unnecessary bloodshed and violence is unwanted. It can be Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc etc.

I've only watched one Criminal/detective show, cruel city/heartless city, where the romance wasn't really the main focus, there was enough of the other stuff going on. But it doesn't satisfy some of your latter preferences.

Help: Anything similar in structure of story line to cruel city or something that deviates a bit from the classic kdramas where the leads always end up together etc. I only got time to watch good quality dramas.

Good Korean romantic films/movies? The more recent, the better!

High school related also welcome.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of:

Always

Architecture 101

The Memory in My Old Wallet

Miss student A

Love 911

Adolesence Medley

Thanks.

I haven't watch any of those but a romantic movie would be More than blue. But get ready to cry your eyes out.

Still pretty new to K-Drama so I would definitely love recommendations. I just finished watching You Who Came from the Stars and I loved it, so I am looking to fill that void  :rlytearpls:

So far I have only watched:
Dream High

Reply 1997

You Who Came from the Stars

I enjoy Rom-Coms (but others are fine) that have good dynamic between the leads and an entertaining supporting cast. Any recommendations?

One that I like that is currently airing is The Time I Loved You/The Time We Were Not In Love.

Please can somebody recommend me a drama that has really great chemistry between the lead actor and actress. Preferably one that won't leave me with second lead syndrome.

These are all the dramas I have watched so far, just in case you recommend them:

Heirs
My Love From The Star
Hotel King
Secret Garden
Prosecutor Princess
Healer - (my favourite drama so far)
Emergency Couple
It's Okay, That's Love
You're All Surrounded
Pinocchio
Kill Me, Heal Me
School 2013
I Hear Your Voice
The Girl Who Sees Smells
Cunning Single Lady

Empress ki - 51 episodes but the chemistry between Ji Chang Wook and Ha Ji Won is through the roof.

Liar Game - no romance but the chemistry is really good.

Miss Korea

I'd love some k-drama recommendations, I'm craving for more but I just don't know what to watch :horror:

I'm looking for historical dramas with romance included, and which are light to watch... kind of? Something like Gu Family Book or The Moon That Embraces The Sun.

I'm thinking of watching Scholar Who Walks the Night. Is it good?

Swwtn is a train wreck. Haven watched the other stuff you mentioned but I personally love empress ki to bits.

Does anybody know any drama that has analytical logic, mystery/puzzle solving, like a detective thing but more procedural? I want to watch something like that. Something sci-fi maybe?

Dr frost is the only one that come to mind for me.

So, I'm super new to KDramas (I've only seen one, High End Crush, and I didn't really like it) and I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for comedy dramas (or movies)? I'm not really into romance stuff at all, so the less of that the better.

All of the following are technically rom-coms to some degree.

Oh My Ghost

The Master's Sun

Secret Garden

Rude Women (godlike finding a place that even has subs for this)

Oh My Venus

Dating Agency: Cyrano

Angry Mom - starts of as a bit of a comedy but then it gets a bit more serious.

I'm not into cheesy stuff. Anything else is fine ;;A;;

Train to Busan

Masquerade

Werewolf boy

Blind

Always

Marriage blues (I thinks that's what it's called it has BoYoung in it)

The beauty inside
