Hey everyone! I'm new to this place but definitely not new to K-pop. I've also been a fan of Dalshabet since their debut, so I'm excited about MINX, seeing that they are with Happyface as well.

I think their debut song is a really great start. I see a lot of potential in these girls!
BTW, If anyone notices a place online to buy the actual physical album before I do, I would be absolutely grateful if you would post a link. Obviously, there is still a bit of a wait before that's available though.

On that note, ugh, the wait is killing me.   !

There is no physical album though. Their debut is a digital single so it's only online.

Won't they have a physical album for sale eventually though? I was planning to get the digital single first because I expected it to be a while before they would start selling physical copies, but I'll be really sad if they never do.

I'm also curious about their other songs. I know they have at least two other ones. Guess I'm just impatient.

Yeah they will eventually but I wouldn't expect it soon, at least around another 4 months and that's even if they end up having a comeback that soon. I wish they released those other songs, theres only low quality through fancams.

Aww, I have to admit that sounds about right, but I wish it would be sooner. Thanks for the info!

 

Anyway, I'm also with ProxyVixen in hoping that the girls get to show up on some variety or something because I'd like to see more than just stage performances and cute pics. I usually decide my bias based on personality as well as dancing and vocal ability.

I really wanted to try making a transparent Kpop PNG render. Of course, I did not expect that I'd be spending a few hours on it due to the background blending so much on the hair and socks that even Photoshop had a hard time, but it came out mostly good.

EDIT: So weird, I could've sworn the image did not have those jaggies. I'll have to fix it up and repost along with some more new ones when I get around to doing more. The AA I did was apparently too light. I must've been tired or something.

Uhm, so I never bought any music from melon before. I ran into something that appears I need an i-PIN and then there's the whole phone authentication thing.. so is it not possible for a US resident to buy songs from melon? I really want to buy their song! I only started learning Korean a couple weeks ago, so it's hard for me to read the longer details and after some searches there seems to be zero helpful info online.

Does anyone know if there's any place I can buy it other than melon that does not require an i-PIN? Or maybe I've misunderstood and I can actually buy through melon some other way?

I see it on Genie, but will it be the same thing because of legal reasons or something? Is it because it's digital? So if it's digital and not on iTunes, is it always going to require a Korean i-PIN and/or phone number?

I usually get my stuff from DVDheaven, so it's always been retail albums. And some Dalshabet I got off of iTunes and SNSD as well, etc. hmm...

Yeah, I looked and found no legal way to get it. I did end up finding a place to DL so I do have it now though. I'm a bit upset that I couldn't buy it properly. The more sales the better. I'm obviously going to buy it later when it's available to me, but it's still not a good situation. All I could do was leave a high rating on melon and heart both the songs.

Siyeon is going to be 19 on the 1st of next month. Super soon. And Yoohyeon is 17.

Yep. I personally feel that HappyFace is one of the better K-pop managing companies (for various reasons), so I think they'll do really well with them.

I think I've finally decided my bias is Yoohyeon. Either her or Ji-U... well, I guess I've narrowed it down at least.

Ah! I think you're right. Google translate really fails for the most part, as does Bing, but I can make out some stuff about it. It looks like she said that she dyed her hair and that she expected people already noticed, but that's about as loose as any translation can get, lol. I think she also said she's happy with how her hair looks, but I could easily be wrong on that one (she is putting her thumb up in the pic and saying something about being happy, but she could also be saying she is happy with the second countdown performance..?). Eh, from now on, I'm going to put extra time in every day for learning Korean. I'm sick of not understanding and online translators just can't handle Korean well in my experience. 

 

Just checked iTunes again for both "MINX" and "ë°ìŠ¤" but still no results. No sign of a physical release on yesasia either. Sucks not being able to support them properly :(

 

Yeah, I understand how you feel. From what's been said previously, it seems likely that it will be quite a few more months before a physical album is available. I'm not sure how long it will take for the digital single to reach iTunes though. I don't want to admit it, but they will probably need to gain a fair amount of success before they expand their market to go through iTunes. But all this has to do with Korean business and legal reasons which I am obviously not going to be very knowledgeable of. But from what I do know, that's my best guess.

 

I just checked soribada. There is both an English website and one for Korean members. If you search for "ë°ìŠ¤" or "MINX" on the English one, you get no results. On the Korean one, it is there.

I don't know why I keep searching. I have seen many explanations already as to why it won't be available. The stuff said in this discussion covers things pretty well.

 

It looks like waiting for the album is the best bet. But I still won't be able to keep myself from checking every now and then for the digital single, lol.

The thing with learning Korean is immersion + determination. You're not gonna get anywhere if you study one day, then skip a week, and try and study again. You're just gonna be in a cycle of revision without learning anything new. ((Trust me, I've been there)) 

 

Oops, LOL, yeah, as expected, just clear proof that online translators just aren't going to cut it. Thanks for the translation.

 

It's not the immersion or determination so much as it is having a proper source of learning for me. But I recently realized that a combination of BusyAtom and KoreanClass101 is really helping me to move forward.

Thanks. I might ask for some help in the future, but I won't bother you unless I think it's necessary.  I'm definitely not stumped for learning Korean with my current sources, but I'm just still very new to it.

I expect Dami to get more opportunity to shine in the future, but honestly, she does show up fairly often in the MV, even with some solo shots that are apart from the rap section. It's just that the actual song is mostly overtaken by Ji-U and Siyeon, but that makes perfect sense because of their position in the group.

The way is see it is that they are all equally important; they simply just have different roles and abilities. I don't really see it as one is less important than another because each person is needed for the group to be what it is. Some people's position in a group (e.g. leader and main vocalists) simply will get more spotlight because of their role. Sub-vocals are equally important, even though they usually don't get as much of the spotlight.

As an example, it's just like the actual music production itself: There are a ton of people behind the composition, sound recording, sound design, mixing, mastering, etc. Without them, the entire group is lacking a very important part and they can't even get anywhere, yet those people are often so "behind the scenes" that they aren't even brought up in most people's minds because the girls' voices and faces so easily take all the focus.

It's the same kind of thing that happens even just within the group of girls as well. The leader usually takes a lot of the focus, and someone else automatically feels a little left out, even though they are very important to the group.

It's not that HappyFace doesn't consider some more important than others, they just recognize how group dynamics work, and they know what they need to showcase in a debut to get the most attention. I really don't think HappyFace is neglecting anyone.

Yeah. There isn't much in the way of photos to choose from for Su-A at the moment unfortunately but for Kaeun I used one of my favourites which is from a fan signing event a couple of years back. There are so few pictures of Kaeun with long hair 

As for these two in general, until someone can prove otherwise I reckon Su-A is Kaeun's little sister 

 

You're starting to shift me over toward a Su-A bias. She's also super cute in the latest Minx Play video too. She has a great laugh. Dang it. I thought I had it settled already. Guess not.

^ It's really hard to tell how they will do at this point also because they've barely just debuted, but I think they each have their own type of beauty (not greater or lesser, but different because not everyone finds one person the prettiest; it's a bit subjective), and they each have their own talents and personalities which makes the group more complete, and it also allows them to appeal to more people, so I think they will all do fine. I'm not worried about Dami.

 

The best things fans can do is support them in sales (if you can buy where you live..) and vote for them in various places and spread their name around. And I expect they probably read comments on their official facebook page and/or their official twitter. So leaving encouraging comments can actually help them be positive and have a little more energy to do better. If anyone doesn't know how to use Hangul (Korean), it's likely the girls can still understand a pretty good amount of common English words. Just avoid complex or long sentences, as sentence structure is pretty different (from what I've learned so far). Short and to the point is good. Like, "Fighting!" "I love you" "The best!" etc.

I'm just starting to like this group.  Just a question for you all....how do you pick your bias already when the group is still brand new?  I'm still trying to learn their names.  

 

Watching their Minx Play videos has helped me decide for the most part, plus some tweets of theirs and how they are on stage. I'm leaning strongly towards Su-A. btw, their pics and names are on the OP (original post of this topic/thread). 

 

Well Su-A was all like "Come here cutie" and I was all like "OK!":

Hardest decision I've had to make in a while. I decided not to buy one.

 

$70 is not something I can afford at this time. Money is so tight for me that I even eat less than I should already. Heck, I even cut off my cell phone service earlier today. (long story, yadda yadda, but I'm surviving, no pity parties, rough times come, rough times go).

 

I will choose to look on the bright side: One other lucky fan will have the joy of having one of the very first signed albums. And I'm also not missing out on supporting them because of where the money will actually go.

 

So, sure, it's super bad timing for me, but life goes on regardless.

Anyway, because I don't know when to give up, I did one more thorough check, just in case there really were CDs for sale, but looks like DYSEQTA was right (as expected, but as I said, I don't know when to give up, lol) and that one video was just a reminder that they have their digital for sale. Exclusively for the Korean market. Still outta luck.

 

But good news is that there are more CDs for sale from that one person through ebay here. Still no money goes to MINX, but you guys can get your hands on more signed albums if you missed the first ones. There are 4 left at the time I'm posting this (or maybe only 3? cuz one is labeled as "..." and no preview pic... hmm).
