Forget success. Forget fame. Forget fortune.

Happiness is something everyone wants, and wants to feel a lot more often–because where happiness is concerned, too much is never enough.

Unfortunately we all have a hereditary “happiness set point.†That means approximately 50% of our happiness is outside of our control. But that means 50% of our level of happiness is totally within our control.

So even if you’re genetically disposed to be somewhat gloomy, you can still do things to make yourself a lot happier. (Choosingnot to do certain things will make you happier, too.)

So doesn’t it make sense to create habits and build a lifestyle that allows you to feel more satisfied and more fulfilled?

Check out this infographic on the science of happiness fromHappify…and start making changes that will make you feel a lot happier.

Just because science says so does it make it really true? (that happiness is easily attainable or those are the ways in which happiness can be attained)

Do you think that the criteria this organization used to measure a country's happiness was right? If not, what would you have added to the criteria?

Ugh. 50% genetics, 40% thoughts/actions/behaviors, 10% circumstances?

As if there's no interaction between the first 50% and the last combined 50%.

Genetics potentially affect that 40% pretty heavily, given that a lot of mental illness has a genetic component.

I don't consider a reaction faked for a specific audience (smiling while you agree to work still more overtime) to be part of that 40%. Forcing yourself to smile might make you less inclined to act on your frustration, but it doesn't make you *happier.*

Also... make lots of friends?

Not everybody *wants* lots of friends. Some of us find it emotionally draining to deal with other people.
