She doesn't even have to be compared to anybody, tbh. It's just evident on it's own that she can be one of the be best voices in kpop. I personally think she is already one of the best voices. But because of her lack of popularity, I'll just say she has the potential to be one of the best, and in the same group ans the Hyolyn's and Ailee's of the kpop world. I'm sure if you get the 3 on the same show to show off their talents it would probably a be a draw. It would just come down to personal preference, but in terms of talent, it's equal, imo. I'm just overeating about the comeback thing, I know they be back sooner or later. Just needed to add some spice in the thread, been slow for a few weeks now. I don't know why, maybe people are annoyed about the server problems on OH. Makes it hard to follow your groups when the search is disabled. With Sistar, Girls Day, fx back, lots of people will be watching. f(x) kinda shot themselves in the foot with a song only their current fandom will enjoy, so for the public it will be seen as Sistar vs GsD.... watch for the BESTie dark horse.. They said themselves the song was for the global audience and not for Korea. Anyway, I don't care how BESTie does with the general public or anyone else, as long as the song is good I'll be happy. I brought EVERY girl group promoting now into this? Just saying that for the court of public opinion, it would normally have been "Sistar vs Girls Day vs f(x)" would have been the perception... Girls Day and AOA are everywhere right now, and soon I'm getting the feeling Sistar will be as well. At this point f(x) is almost at the end of their promotions I think with SM having Infinite come back with their repackaged album (f(x) wouldn't hold up well to Girl's Day or Sistar, in fact, I'd bet Sistar is going to wreck a few things if their song is as hot as that teaser). I'd also argue in the court of public opinion it would be more about Sistar vs Infinite than any of the other girl groups honestly. I am curious to see where BESTie and Hyuna will fall at though between Girl's Day and Sistar, Girls Day will have this coming week to win things. Issue with Sistar is timing. They are on the same week as Infinite. Infinite will likely win pretty much all awards that is tied to physical sales. Which leaves Inki really. Sistar may have to wait till Infinite physical sales settle down before start winning at which point, who knows who else will be back with Sistar on their 3rd or 4th week. Sistar will likely win their first eligible week (not next week) Inkigayo. Other major shows will likely be won by Infinite. Dont really tend to judge a song based on teasers. They are rarely as good as they make it seem to the fanbase. BESTie I think is just in it for the eyes and ears, and may win a few people over. It proves which members are off key. The ones that are the most audible are the ones that are further away from what they sound like in the studio version. Actually it does. As stated in the article itself it's nearly impossible to reproduce the envelop not only because singers are slightly different everytime, the environment is different everytime. Phase cancellation only removes EXACT replica of the original recording. They dont usually completely disappear. And is usually higher than "the bleed through" of the original music through environmental effects. Does this introduce a distortion of the voice? Yes it does. But I think the point was proving who is singing live. It actually does do that for the most part. What would be insanity would be to judge someone's voice based on a MR removed. Also even if it only served to show which members are off key or have vocal timbres completely different from the final audio, it would still serve some purpose. EDIT: I omitted mentioning stereo BPF because as he himself alluded to in the article, KPOP music show production is completely the wrong scenario to use that method. You can address any technical questions to me since I actually know what I'm talking about, but if people actually read the article properly they shouldn't have any questions anyway. Using MR removed videos to evaluate the quality of a singer is like using thrown-away kitchen scraps in the bin outside a restaurant to evaluate the quality of a chef. It doesn't tell you anything, and it can even be completely misleading. People need to stop kidding themselves and stop linking MR removed videos everywhere like they prove anything at all. Believe it or not, they don't even prove that the singing is live, I'll probably post a follow-up post explaining why at some point because I do get questions about this. I'm gonna assume you included the streo bpf for sake of completeness. I agree that "MR removed" using current methods should not be used to judge quality of a singer, but disagree that it should be dismissed out of hand as a tool. And just to allay any lingering doubts.... What is the advantages of FIR over IIR, and how do I decide how many taps to use? MR is so completely useless for evaluating a singer that it's comical. But evaluating singer quality in general is pointless in a genre like k-pop anyway - obviously.
