I think the brand 'Running Man' could have survived a cast change (it has been done on Infinite Challenge 1N2D beforehand). Well, that is life. Now that it comes to the end, I am curious to see what is next. Especailly if SBS can propose an outdoor variety program to Yoo Jae-Seok. Is there anything announced yet?

I watched the subbed teaser. I like the MMA fighter Kwon Asol. and the latest 4 people seem the most interesting lol hard to say for who i want to root. I will just enjoy the show hoping it would be interesting to see the events unfold. Actually I am pumped. don't think it could create the same tension as in The Genius, but i am sure there will be nice things to see.

I watched maybe half of the episodes. The cast was hilarious and had a great alchemy together. I watched so many episodes jsut for them; Jangjin was a revelation during the show after the first two episodes where I did not find him good. He became the best for me. My ranking is 1) Jangjin 2) Hani 3) Dongmin. Did Bumdi become Hani's fan? I am curious about the show with Yoo Jae Seok and Crime Scene's PD. Hoping it is a game show. I also hope his sidekick Jang Dongmin will be in the project. On "I am a Man" he relied a lot on him and I am pretty sure he was disappointed with that IC story. Hoping Jaedong can join him as well.

Disappointed it is a season with contestants from the previous seasons. If people did not want any alliance in this new season... lol S1 vs S2 vs S3 Prediction: Junseok vs. Hyunmin in the last episode Jinho has to make up for S1E1, so he will help Junseok. What I really need is an alliance Yeonseung/Yoonsun The tweet of Bumdi about Kyunghoon and Yohwan is completely hilarious. Seriously they could have casted Soojin instead of Kyunghun. From another player viewpoint I would want to get rid of them rapidly, because they irrationally play ina way it cannot be predicted and could be self-destructing for people linked to them, so the only thing to do is to play against them. That will be strange to watch. Who will accet them in their alliances? lol The 4 people from the open cast are back. Since they announced the cast, did they film the first episode? I mean if not there would be a lot going on before the first episode. on the other side they knew it would have been that kind of season, so it could not have been helped.

I am afraid it is too early to have a new season. Actually it is in one month. we still don't know anything about the cast :o The teaser looks more like a Kpop group teaser lol I thought we were in Fantastic baby or something like this. Funny thing they wrote Comeback, which is a Kpop term. Maybe the bandage man starts a solo career. What are the rumors or the guesses from this teaser? What does the red color mean? I am curious about the cast , but what I am the most curious is will they cast Hani or not? I have only seen 4 epsiodes of Crime Scene, but she is so entertaining in it. It is too obvious to cast her, but it feels so natural to do so. They went back to the saturday slot. I dunno if it is a good idea. On the second part of the sentence that is the misinterpretation of what The Genius is and also what economic studies show on human behavior. You have better reults by collaborating. To win if you look individually at one player should do, she or he has to form allies. Why not the contrary? If one decides to play individually, which also means playing against others, they have some resentment against him or her and in the long term this strategy is counter-productive. I thought the results of the 3 seasons have globally shown that already. If it is not what you expect from The Genius, better to drop the show. I am happy they put game show in the teaser. I really hate to label The Genius as a reality show. For me it is a game that is filmed one day a week among the players and I don't see any link with the so-called reality shows. They also wrote best game show in the world. Does it come from an award? PS: I saw 5 days of summer with Lady jane and Hong Jinho. The frontier is so blurry between private life and TV. I am not too sure what to think about it.

i did not know Infinite did that stuff audio and visuals of The Genius. Other topic when watching a Korean TV show am I the only one feeling weird when an iconic music of The Genius is used? Some pieces belong to the identity of The Genius. I wonder if there are rules among PDs, so that TV shows can build their own identity. If not I think there should be that kid of rule. On the other hand it may be also the same audio director on different programs that uses what has previously worked. Do they pay fees for the music they used in Korea. How does it work when the program is exported like Running Man. Do they choose other music? Do they pay fees in these countries as well?

I saw there were articles speculating on who the winner was. whoever this singer is, if I were her fan, I would upvote misleading comments, so that people don't know till the end. It is probably what they do at this moment. MBC should release OSTs for their dramas with the winners. I think it would create a buzz. It is a question of timing, before the winner loses. At least they have a two weeks window

With the end of Kpop Star the show gets normal ratings, nearly 10%. I think SBS's Sunday will go back to last place on a regular basis. How does it work for the reigning champion (here the girl that won the first two episodes)? Will she get a battle at the end of episode 4? How do they prevent viewers to know who the reigning champion is? Is there an interdiction in the media to publish guesses of fans? It could work for most of the viewers. Fans will find out, but for casual viewers they need to see the names in the articles. Do the crew will use the same techniques to cover scandals? lol I am sure the more the reigning champion will win, the more the ratings will skyrocket.

Leave alone I was bored during the first case, timeline of events and people's motivations do not add up. I don't say it is completely contradictory, but that feels out of place. Did Knetz look at it? The PDs can still create hidden stories to tie loose ends (actually I have done it myself) The first suicide attempt of the sister was one year ago, but Artist Hong was studying abroad at that time. Then, she attempted again 3 months before the murder when she learned the news. It is the same newspaper that reported both events. She did not read the newspaper reporting her death, so she should not know about the wedding. btw, it is dealer Jang that made Artist Hong famous. Why would there be a report when Hong was still anonymous at that time? Dealer Jang arrived 3 months ago. Later he brought Client Ha into the gallery and a later she became blackmailed by the victim. From new client to blackmailed woman it was awfully fast considering we can see the date of the first transactions towards the victim (01/20)-(murder date: 04/08). Was she still in the hostess business being considered top class when she was 30? (The victim was 30, so she needed to be adult to work in a convenient store.) Like stated above: it is not completely contradictory, so we can leave at that (I only kept main points, I deleted some of them). My main concern is the whole storytelling that is worse than a makjang. I remember reading a citation about Anna Karenina saying the genius of Tolstoy was to have imagined Anna a good person. Here there is no good point about the characters and their relationships. Besides Dongmin I like Hani a lot in this episode. When cornered she straightforwardly said her reasons and what she did. On the contrary it is not clear to me when Jihoon and the victim relationship ended up. She was correct about the 3 calls with one minute interval. It is not very natural. Here it is PD's mistake. Actually with the mobile geolocation it should have cleared artist hong from being the potential culprit lol It does not make a show, but it is interesting how the players were swayed by their emotions and convictions and used more them to interpret the different evidences than actual reasoning to determine the potential sequence of events leading to the murder. PS: I find that teaser fucking hilarious

What TvN should do is a spin-off based on the Genius cast and not on The Genius principles. I am sure there are a lot of concepts to reunite them. I would propose they play games with youngsters or elders to tutoring, share experiences and stories or create social links; so it would a documentary/variety show mixing celebrities and anonymous people like Korea do it usually when it is not a talk show. I would prefer a new game show with innovative ideas, but I would like to see the cast of S3 + Sunggyu, Jinho, Cha Yuram, Kyungran and a few others.

I am sad, because that showed in other circumstances, the sentence would not have been controversial. too bad both of them did not have the opportunity to resolve their issues privately and quietly.

From one of his tweets (I believe he is a guy) he implies there could have been published, because people thought it was scripted. I dunno. I re-watched S1E2 to see the context of one of these scenes. It seems common in Korean TV shows to ask to other people what are their opinions about yourselves. Sunggyu asked "Nuna, do you hate me?" at one point in Ep2 (according to Bumdi's translation). And in this episode I did not remember about that, but a lot of people switched camps between main match and death match. I guess what could pass for a viewer when you just discovered the show, can't be tolerated later. Shin Ah Young will co-host a new show on TvN. I have no idea what it is about, but the facebook page is called The Brave teenagers. A little late, but I have read after Holland a production company in France bought the rights.

Dongmin was a god to understand the code of the padlock. Hani has too much imagination lol inlcuding the coffee girl and the guy with the umbrella in her reasoning. I wonder how Hani knew she was making a "ugly face". I mean the episode has not been broadcasted and people are not aware of the faces they make especially during that kind of stressful event. I suppose it is the writers that asked her to speak about it. I was interested at first, but then I got bored. The talking part was not interesting. Even Dongmin was not as good. Maybe he needs ah young at his side. The game part. They kind of messed up the explanations of the results. Why did they not compare the scenarios of each player? Why did they not speak about where they were false? They could have a discussion to form the right scenario with each others' information. The new rules are an interesting add from the initial concept, that I don't find thrilling enough to be entertained. As I said in the previous thread if it was about preventing an event to happen in real-time, I would be interested, but not solving murder case. I will stay loyal to The Genius.

One time it was kong's nickname, but the other times it was the TV show itself. We can appreciate the legacy of this show for the players that shine in the program. What I am surprised how explicitely they mention TV shows from other networks. 2 years ago I have the feeling they only say "a program on another channel", but now I have seen a lot of cases when the say the names of other programs even if it is not on the same channel. Maybe it is just a feeling.

this is so good I watched the raw of the third episode (btw Shin Ah Young from The Genius is a panelist in the third episode). There are every ingredient you need in variety. compared to other survival music shows. It has its thrilling moments when you hear them singing the first time (like in the voice and other variants) but it could explode in laughters when they are tone-deaf so it is funnier than its competitors the musical moments were magic, so it is emotional for the viewers I think it has more suspense than Crime Scene. the viewer can be committed in the show in trying to find either they are good singer or not. it is really nerve-wrecking MCs are good, panelists are interesting to hear (even if you don't need to overanalyse, because it always turns out to be false). for foreigners it is more interesting than hidden singer, since usually we don't know the voice of the vocalists they invite, so personally I can't really guess. I am really interesting in the ratings and korean response. I can't imagine anything than very good ratings you can compare to Hidden Singer or Grandpas Over Flowers. I could bet my wons they were inspired by the I am Man special with tone-deafs

Genius S4: Trump card. I am glad Dongmin is casted in Crime Scene without Hyunmoo. He deserves his own spotlight. I hope these types of shows stop hilghlighting/advertising the profiles of the cast: IQ, university and now brainy show winner. I am kinda disappointed that Hani is casted in Crime Scene, because i have the feeling it could jeopardize a future participation in the Genius. on the other hand I could watch Crime Scene now only for the cast. from genius to crime scene seems a common route. Hoping there will be this KAIST girl that was on running Man casted in Genius(I know Koreans will still use that rope to promote the shows lol)

Not going by who is more likely to cast, but more how they made that chart, I would say Minhyuk (or Heechul?) Hyunmoo Hong Jinho Jang Yoon Joo Lee Ji Hae I stop thinking i want some hints now to try to guess.

I am only excited for the cast announcement. I am not interested in the show itself. Since it is Crime Scene, shouldn't they let some clues for people to guess? Is it one cast member by line? If I were Korean, I would search for all the images to know where it comes from. It could give an indication. I suppose there are obvious choices that can be eliminated because of other commitments. Can't believe they put Lee Yuri in it. If she was not in a drama currently, I would have chosen her lo, because it is so unlikely to have such a star. I have tried to guess from the way they have disposed the candidates. Not sure. a first hypothesis is Column 1. It is the only one that respects 3 males and 2 females, have 1 from the previous cast and Hyunmoo. I am curious about something. People would be disappointed, if some big names are finally not part of the cast. How to avoid this letdown effect on the viewers? Kim Seon yoon and Yeo on Heyon, what are their jobs? Is there a possibility they could be casted?

I don't think it was just a slip of tongue, if it was only person maybe but two? anyway, in the minds of Koreans, they will use the term celebrity for someone going regularly on TV for broadcast purpose. Sometimes I use the term broadcast alliance about the Genius S2 to insist on the TV aspects. You can watch that early episode of Happy Together The former basketball player is presented as a celebrity when they meant someone going on TV shows. So Eunkyul was not a celebrity in that aspect and did not have special links with the entertainers/musicians/hosts in the Genius cast. on the Genius itself when Knetz speak about the celebrity group, it is term to group some ofthe players without naming them explicitly everytime. Eunkyul did not belong to this group the so-called group of celebrities composed first of Sangmin NHC and EJW with some others joining them later.

You don't remember what happened in the early episodes of S2. A participant (Eunkyul) noticed this close relationship of the celebrities. That is why he decided to act. In the episode they report what he said in front of the camera, but maybe others were thinking the same. There is also an event that objectively shows that.. In ep 4 two people of the broadcasting clan (NHC and Yoo Young) said to EJW that Eunkyul was the mole in the main match, although Eunkyul made NHC and Yoo Young win (among others). As you said I don't think it was explicitly planned, but it is not what the viewers reproach to them. I like the immortality token scene and that Doohee got owned. Which behavior is in-game and what is borderline with other considerations/reasons that are external to the game is a complicated question to answer. On the other hand depending on the situation I think people will instinctively know what to do. Like for the Eunkyul situation: how the players of the winning team should have behaved. Obviously there is no specific rule in The Genius, yet people are here to play a game and behave like a player, a sportsman, while betraying and more importantly social interactions are a game mechanics. When doohee used his "token" of immortality, should he have done it or not? I personally think he should have faced directly Yoo Young in the DM and that was low to use it at that moment. Yet he can do it.

Oh, I am surprised S3 is your first season. There is a Genius 2 thread here on OH. I re-read it recently to know how I felt at that time, because i had the feeling my opinion on the whole S2 has changed since the air of episodes. i did not remember how accurate my analysis was lol. At episode 2 I called out the PD team asking them to correct things and to get in-game actions and not things outside. i also said that maybe it was fun to play, but it was not so entertaining to watch and was wondering how the players could have felt after broadcast. Meaning can't they see what is wrong with their actions. It was before the stealing and the public backlash of episode 6. To answer your question in ep 6 I did not like that it was not a game anymore. Doohee was not someone I was interested in, so I did not really care about his elimination. Maybe because the episodes were messy starting ep 8 (Yohwan), I did not feel any motivation and I only had in my mind this celebrity vs. non-celebrity thing to explain the trainwreck. Now I think that well a celebrity clan could happen, but as long as it is within the rules and there is no ganging-up in the DM, I am fine with any result. Actually in S3 E12 the non-celebrities had actually a interest to give the gift for Dongmin, so that Dongmin would return a favor by inviting them in a show. Well, I don't mind. in the english community there are various opinions, but a summary of what I read would be that a lot of people felt sorry for Doohee because of the betraying. The rest of the celebrities actions and other episodes were overshadowed by this particular event and such as not commented. Also a few thought that Doohee should not have trusted EJW. It is very rare to find someone siding with the celebrity team in E6.
