I don't think that that the group will target merely existing fanbase. There will be new fanbase that they will target with addition of new member. Same with introduction of new sister group. Like I said that AKS gain from the context of franchise expansion rather than the particular PD48 group. If not, the same argument can be said to other sister group especially the new one (NGT48, STU48). Actually 2.5 years is the length of former sister group of AKB48, SDN48. SDN48 actually being formed to rival KPop group in Japan. They even have Korean lyrics on their debut single. But it flopped. Right know Aki-P have the right approach. By cooperating with the one that expert on it (CJ E&M). Anyway, it is pretty much give and take between CJ E&M and AKS. CJ E&M allowed 48G to participate hence allowed AKS to reach international audience using KPop for franchise expansion. AKS allowed the group to use 48G machinery to gain money and sustain them in Japan. Win win for me. Moreover there are rumor that the final group is supposed to have 5 years contract, even the latest rumor (if I am not mistaken) said that the group can extend the contract based on mutual agreement.

I bet that you never hear that how AKB48 fan lament that the sister group members appear more on the AKB48 single in compare to AKB48 members. Well, it is common practice that the newly debuted sister group will have one spot in AKB48 single. The latest example is Takino Yumiko. Hence, if the final PD48 group is being treated to just like sister group in Japan, they might have a spot. That is the important aspect, if the final PD48 group having the similar perk as other sister group, they are basically gaining money as similar as JPop group unless you are saying that typical KPop group gain more money in Japan in compare with AKB48 sister group or you are saying that they can gain more money in Japan by promoting just like typical KPop group without any connection whatsoever with 48g in compare with sister group which are able to sustain themselves by using 48brand. Hence, I think that is the motivation for CJ E&M to cooperate with AKS. AKS have different motivation. They not focus on PD48 group alone. They focus more on franchise expansion. Establishing sister group throughout the world. Cooperating with local and international companies to use 48brand. We can see that from the AKS trajectories starting with cooperate with Toyota to form AKB48 Team 8, cooperate with Yoshimoto to form Yoshimotozaka46, sending one member to Mexico and to cooperate with CJ E&M in the case of Produce48.

Well they can appear on B-sides of AKB48. Some of them can be part of AKB48 Senbatsu. Participate in AKB48 concert. Aki-P might can pull a string or two to for the group to have gigs in Japan. The group might be not that popular but if Aki-P treated the final group just like how he treat other sister group I think they can gain a lot of money. Japan market is big. That's why nugu group always promote in Japan. I had read someone in The Unit thread said that, one thing that these nugu groups have in common is that they are always promoting in Japan. If nugu group can gain money in Japan, I think that final PD48 group which connected with 48/46 franchise can gain more money regardless of their level of popularity.

I can see that there are chances that final PD48 group might enter next SSK. I always wonder how much the voting power of Korean fans. BNK48 can push their member up to the next girl. For PD48 final group I think they can do better.

Of course Aki-P will never care to make the sister group to be popular with Japanese public. But 48g machinery helps to sustain the group. If final PD48 group can use this machinery, the machinery that monopolize female idol industry, they have the potential to milk more money than any typical KPop group since they go to the territory that never being gone by many of the KPop group before.

I think there are certain thing that I need to be addressed again: If MNet think by cooperating with 48g they can make the next TWICE just because TWICE have J-line, they are delusional. TWICE J-line still suit what Korean want in their group, 48g is not. If MNet think by cooperation with 48g the group will be instantly popular in Korea, they are delusional. People forgot that Aki-P one of the producer of the final group. He is the producer that produce 48/46 franchise which dominate female idol industry in Japan. 48g have very established machinery which although they are not considered as popular anymore, they still can sustain themselves. Hence, I think if the final group can use this machinery and Aki-P can pull some string to promote the group not like just typical KPop group in Japan, that is where most of the money will come from.

As far as I agree that being a glorified cover group will never work in Korea but it is interesting that some AKB48 song can be covered as B-sides since I want to see AKB48 song with Korean aesthetics and precision dance.

That is my point all along. If MNet is only care about the money, the money making machine is in Japan since they can use 48g machinery to milk as much money as possible within shortest period of time. Of course the final group is Korean based but the potential in Japan cannot be neglected because that is where the money come from. This is because the nature of temporary KPop group is their period of time is lower while the cost to produce album is high. Hence, ROI is quite low. Therefore, they must milk money as much as they can from whichever channel. In short, expecting this show to success (although there are many risks) and operating the group just like typical KPop group (although they have potential to milk money as much as they can in Japan) is shortsighted at best.

The show is groundbreaking. Yes. To think that the show will be smash hit form the let go is shortsighted because: The historical issues between both countries. Different standard of idol between both countries. Negative perception of 48G among Korean that know them. The survival show fatigue. Majority of survival show which not name Produce doesn't end well. There are high chance that people are getting tired with Produce series. I had said during initial phase that this show is kind of risky. Thank goodness that the rating is okayish. Thank goodness that the boycott not affect that much. Thank goodness that Korean voters doesn't do total annihilation of Japanese trainees.

Well, if the purpose of Aki-P to expand 48brand, the Produce48 as a show is enough. Of course they are KPop group. Of course they will promote them in Korea more. What irk me is that the connotation that promotion in Japan is not that important although this group have potential to gain more money than any KPop group in Japan since they are connected with 46/48g franchise. The major franchise that monopolize the female idol industry in Japan. We end up ignore this potential to gain more money, focus to promote them like any typical KPop group which leading to the problem of the Japanese trainees not suit for Korean standard which can effect their popularity (which effect on how much money that can they made for short period of time) while this problem can be solved by not cooperating with 48g in the first place. Like some had said that AKS should know that having the Japanese trainees participating and promoting their own group at the same time can lead to overwork. Therefore, MNet also should foresee this coming unless MNet just using 48g for hype and underestimating the performance of Japanese trainees. Anyway, assuming that the benefit of cooperating with 48g is outweigh the loss, deal with it and just do what MNet always do to face this problem.

Well, what is the benefit for MNet to cooperate with AKS? At this rate MNet is the one that struggling to ensure that there are good ratio of Korean:Japanese trainees and to ensure that Japanese trainees that being chosen is fitting the Korean idol standard. If they are barely do any promotion or go touring all year long, it is better for them to use 48g machinery to gain money in Japan.

If they wont spend much time in Japan, what is the need to cooperate with Japanese girl group which pretty much fit Japanese idol standard not Korean idol standard? It is suitable for CJ E&M to cooperate more with LDH group or Japanese trainees in Korea since they are near to Korean idol standard in compare with 48g.

That is basically my point. Maybe. But other thing that AKS done show that they are on the path of international expansion.

Well, the main reasons why the chance of Korean sister group to succeed is slim to none because AKB48 is an epitome of what Korean don't want in their group. Besides there are sort of KPop group that have a bit of AKB48 element like NCT and Boys24. Both not end up that well. Anyway, if Aki-P can set up Korean sister group that will be a big achievement since KPop companies which well known about their market and trying to adopt AKB48 element cannot do that. The only successful adaptation of AKB48 element is Produce series.

Well, maybe before there is no need for international expansion in compare for now. I do think that before the establishment of international sister group, the main target must have a bit information about who is AKB48. With PD48, it is actually increase the international awareness about who is AKB48.

Well, 48g cannot expand anymore in Japan. The only way is to expand internationally. I think AKS on the path of international expansion. They just open SSK for international sister group members. Even they have the instruction of voting video in English. Besides, there is an English description on 48g youtube MV. AKS also send one 48g member to Mexico. Therefore, I can said that they are on that path. Whether AKS will succeed or not, that another different issues.

Honestly, I think that Aki-P want the international hype mostly for the 48g structure as a whole, not just only for the final PD48 group. To limited aspect Aki-P is succeeding. There are many Korean commenting on 48g music videos and international audience that say they come here because of PD48. In short, Aki-P main target actually us. To make 48g known internationally to ease them for the establishment of international sister group.

For me if MNet pretty much doing the 3rd season of PD101 in order to make the IOI/Twice level group during the time people have survival show fatigue already which most of other show not doing well while PD101 S1 doing great because it is new, PD101 S2 doing great because it is male version by cooperating with the group which do not conform with Korean standard, I think MNet is delusional.

If MNet want to make the next Twice by cooperating with 48g just because Twice have J line I think that is a bit shortsighted decision. Twice J line although they are Japanese, they still suit what Korean want in their idol group. 48g members suit what Japanese want in their idol group. That different.

Maybe because AKB48 group in general is an epitome of what Korean doesn't want in their group, too many girls, members come and go and not talent oriented. Besides, AKB48 before PD48 not have good perception within Korean GP which know them. Hence, maybe MNet thought that it is impossible for Japanese trainees to be well received in compare to the Korean trainees. Nevertheless, MNet forget that their Produce series is being model after AKB48 element and it leads some unintentional aspect that mirror AKB48 dynamic (VS narrative, akgae fans, Ahn Yujin statement is basically the kuyashii of this Produce series) and this 48g girls idol life is basically extended Produce101. They are basically more experience in "playing the game". MNet doesn't realize this because they caught up with 48g need to adjust themselves to KPop environment in compare with Korean trainees which already in the KPop environment.
