that's what im wondering too....cl is actually pretty rich and if she wants to start anew, it would be best for yg to not have access to her work or to make money off of her solo work. it would really be a best case scenario for her if it turns out that way

after both produce48 and produce x happened, there were genuine efforts to make jnk and by9 happen (especially by9) but the companies of the undebuted trainees werent interested, so....for by9 the members only wanted to do it if they every member of the agreed lineup wanted to, but they didnt and its honestly better for them to just be individuals rather than having to split their profit three ways

by "major" i mean any company with a name to a face, aka any vaguely relevant past or current act. star empire, kiwipop, all-s, ime korea, fent, stardium, banana culture, etc are all small companies with recently debuted/upcoming acts that had predebut teasing. that's not even to mention companies like wm, woollim, rbw, mbk, fantagio, pledis, loen, etc which also use predebut teasing to curate fanbases. i know txt had lots of hype at debut, they came from bighit so everyone was naturally excited, myself included. but their debut style is very uncommon for current groups, even most big companies arent gambling with it*. * sm might if it turns out their nbg isn't nct related, cube might have to since all their known boys are gone, and yg might even though they promised treasure box fem. ver

has there been any group in the past 5 years that's debuted without even some predebut exposure? even if it's not through produce or a tv show, most companies at least tease their singing or dancing skills. even more nugu groups try and recruit previously debuted idols, child actors, or models. with how saturated the market is, grabbing attention is important, so it's very rare to have a group of unknowns debut. tho i heard taehyun was a local model, so maybe that counts for something.
