  1. hmmmmmmm

Despite all the time i've spent following kpop, i still don't quite understand the ratios betwen hanteo sales and gaon sales...

How come some groups have such a disparity with their hanteo and gaon numbers?

I think for I Am we're currently at about 17k hanteo and 30k gaon

I think Loona's debut album is at 25k and 55k respectively

and for Loona's xx its at about 12k hanteo but 26k gaon

Dreamcatcher is 17k hanteo and 28k hanteo

But for I Made the numbers are almost the same with 22k hanteo and 25k gaon

Some albums have big gaps cuz Gaon counts international shipping, while Hanteo in most cases doesn't

its really quite simple. Gaon is how many albums were shipped to the stores , and Hanteo how many were sold in the stores that are tracking the albums.

Gaon is way more reliable in that sense.

  2. lol I've heard balkans hate turks and islam because they invaded and oppressed them for centuries, America because NATO bombed them and each other because of the territoral wars

Depends which country, its different for each. Mine was opressed all the way till 1990. By various countries . So People here dont like half of Europe+US ye xD

We have a really good portion of sea together with thousands of Islands, so countries always fought to get it.

I mean, some still cant get over it. For example italian politician, part of EU council said that Dalmatia and Istria (our region on sea) are theirs. It was like two weeks ago. It stirred quite a big commotion and hate here even tho we didnt have "issues" with Italy a for long time...

  3. Yeah, most of them are being taken down even the ones with almost 3M views one. Not sure what loen ent are doing. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Thank goodness I already download all the HD performances. MMA performances vids are always a loss cause. I already accept it since their Epic BST+Fire MMA 2016 stage. We never get the official vids for that one either.

There is on their Melon page HD performance at MMA, its available for those who don't have an account and outside Korea.

usually you have to subscribe to watch their MV's on Melon, but this perf. is fully available.

In case that all get deleted, that you guys know where to find it smile.png

  4. Also my country  invited BTS to perform in our arena. I forgot to comment that , i saw someone posted a translation few days ago.

Its not exactly an arena, its the only amphitheatre in the world that has four side towers,

just to tell you the scale of it - Martin garrix was rejected last yr to perform there for example.

I know BH wouldn't choose it as their venue simply cuz the capacity and cuz my country is nugu, but i just wanna show people, who are curious obviously, how awesome army bombs would look if BTS got to perform in a setting like that maybe one day (Also i think Italy has one aswell thats bigger  , i think its called Arena di Verona)

(in case BH is lurking on this thread *cough*)

  5. .

    Aegyo is for all genders.

Some fans were not happy with some of the Tear concept photos initially. The quality. Also not everyone liked "S" version of the recent album. Of course, they were polite, mature and still said good things too. Again, it's pretty obvious what Korean and Japanese fans want. No matter the age. This season greeting is right up their alley.

I agree it's subjective. For me, it's one example of dressing nice. There are many styles guys can wear that I personally like too

also aegyo is more a personality trait and not styling.

all i know is from what i see from korean interviews on youtube, and communicating with regular korean people, working with koreans , attending korean school and following korean-related stuff for the last 12 years,is  that  the innocent, youth, pure image clothes (same as highschool things, chokers and similar accessories etc.) is purely kpop and kdrama thing

lets just agree to disagree cuz our conversation isnt really leading anywhere haha

you like it, i don't. we both won't change our opinions about it.lovestruck.png

I mean why would exchange students talk about "aegyo" to foreigners tbh.

Aegyo is term created by the culture itself. It's very much apart of Korean culture and it's people. I'm sure everyone can google more about it, if interested. It's hard to explain and understand becuase we're from cultures that don't really value? (is that right word for this..) cute personalities. Many Asian cultures seem to like cute personalities. Which is why it's popular.

Like you said, It's all over public Korean broadcasts and idols do it too. Because It's popularity in Korea. However "aegyo" is not always fake or forced. It can be natural too.

Asian boss video : Yes like I mentioned, your average Korean guy might not where white khakis and men dress shirt together on a daily basis. However for a date or an event they might, if they want to dress up. It's a nice and simple look.

Second video : As mentioned sort of...there is a stigma against boy groups. We know from BTS demographics and other boy groups too, it's not just teenage Koreans following boy groups and ask for this content. We can even see this from Naver articles about their concept photos with positive comments.

Nah it's not just teenagers who like guys to dress nice sometimes.

Not talking, noticing it. if its something cultural and natural to them, i'd see them doing it here.

Yea i agee they like cute stuff, but the question is. to what age they find it okay outside idol world? and i am pretty sure that its more acceptable for girls to act cute than boys even past their "age" of being cute. (*cough yea i know double standard there)

Im not sure if you have seen the pics? they just dont have pants, Jin have bow shaped in flowers, i am sorry but its unrealistic to me to see  guy wearing that kind of accessory. - since you're so stuck on the greetings pic for some reason eventho i said more times  i am talking overall about cute, innocent, pure kpop concepts. Plus i wasn't really talking about personalities until you brought up aegyo.

I mean, its what korean girls said themselves on the video, not me. they separate them as "flower boys" and "Kpop idol look like boys".

Duh why would fans leave negative comments under articles regardeless of age haha. I wouldn't either and i'm "older" fan already.

I personally think dressing nicely is not objective but subjective thing, To someone else dressing nicely means wearing casual outfit jeans and maybe a suit, to me wearing puma/nike sport clothes , to you it means dressing khaki pants and white  oversized t-shirts.

  7. I think there is a misunderstand what people mean by "Korean culture" in relations to cute.

Culturally the Korean public do like "cute". They even have a word for being cute or fake cute..."aegyo". Culturally Koreans forced people to do "aegyo" all the time. Male and Female.

Some Korean guys try to act tough, but at the same time turn around and do aegyo with their parents, girlfriends and friends lmao (nothing wrong with that tho)

Honestly I can't take some Korean men seriously considering on topics about "idols"...considering most of them love cute concepts for girl groups. It's the most popular concept for general public. What it boils down to, in general there is a stigma against boy groups in Korea.

By the way - I'm not saying Koreans would wear cute outfits. (that more the Japanese culture) However Koreans do like people who are cute - personality-wise. Again as mentioned, "aegyo"

Also I still stand behind that the Season greeting outfits are not cute or school-boy. White khaki and button up shirts is a simple and casual outfit for guys who want to dress up a bit and impress girls. Yes, your average Korean guy isn't going to dress up like that on a daily basis. And yes, like you mentioned earlier, it is popular in kdramas and Kpop, since that's what the female population want.

All exchange students from Korea i've met, i have never saw them talking about aegyo or being cute. they were all like mid-twenties. (that was like six years ago when i was still into kpop fanservice myself haha)

I see aegyo on their TV , when I move to Korea and live there for a while then i guess i'll have better perspective on how koreans find aegyo. Is it really that popular or its just how korean tv and media portrays it. When I see k-charts i think idols must be really popular, especially gg's, and then i talk to korean people on social media and nobody likes idols.  Then i look their karaoke chart and theres no idol songs there, and we all know that karaoke culture is huge. Some things just don't add up to me  on how we see things lol.

The asian boss video that i linked purpose wasn't about what korean men think of idols, but to show how they dress (thats the first one that popped up on the youtube when i wrote "korean men asian boss" lol)

Second video is girls talking and calling kpop-idol looks for teenagers, it wasn't even guys who said that.

Yes a female population thats younger wants that, I never denied that. But not all of their fans are teenagers either.

We opened the topic in general about idols and how companies market them and to who. I wasn't only specifically talking about seasons greetings. its better that you don't know on what their concept reminds me of imstupid.png

  8. It seams some people can't survive if there's no negativity going around .

I'm.not going to tag anyone but want to cover some points

    4. I can almost guarantee that most people complaining are I-fans. You need to understand that they are Korean and they do things according to Korean culture. They have said themselves that they are Korean first. So you need to look at things from that perspective. This kind of concepts are what Koreans (and Japanese fans as well) relate to and/or like the most so what's wrong with them doing it.....

    4. If you don't like the concept just don't buy anything to do it with and shut up.... Stop spreading negativity everywhere. We don't need it

I think some ifans misunderstand what "korean culture" means. Korean men don't dress like that, dont misunderstand.

Its only idols, k-drama actors and CF models that sometimes do lol. just look at any random korean video on street with guys and you gonna see the difference. its more like "kpop idols culture" if you really wanna adress it somehow.

i can link you the video call some girl made as an experiment, she called her friends and asked does she like "flower" boys image or the matured looking guys. she said she likes seeing flower boys on TV (for example Cha eunwoo) but that she doesn't find that attractive. its just "idol-like" and for teenagers

yes its their culture that its more normal to see that kind of image on celebs, especially for fans - you are absolutely right, but normal guys don't dress like that.  YOu will see on video i linked that such guys on streets are especially called "k-pop like guys" lol

here its example of, you have tons of videos:

Also, its just  pics people are debating over, you know you don't need to like everything Bighit does. even if you geniunely love everything they do, some people just don't do and its okay if they debate over it. just ignore it if you don't like it.

    smile.png

EDIT: here i found that video and korean perspective

School uniforms are def a concept overdone in Kpoplaugh.png  But it's a cultural thing and very popular so what can I do lol. I've learned to accept them being into kpop for so long.

(Note: BTS here isn't doing a school concept tho. They're wearing casual clothes. Literally white khaki and button-up dress shirts. Very common outfits for men all over the world.)

Sometimes season greetings in Kpop have sort of a "Spring" "hopeful - positive" feel to them. (BTS last year was similar) I guess, they're trying to be positive for the new year. It works for me tbh. It made me happy seeing them relaxed and happy.

I'm strong believer in BTS foreheadsQRLGYBO.png  (Thankfully my bias is tooTT)...so yea I don't care for bowlcuts either. The members like them, so again lol nothing I can do..^^

I'm more of a casual type of person too. Occasionally I'll do a "sexy" look thohoplz.png

Haha i know they're not doing high school concept, i named it cuz thats one of things i don't like with gg's >.<

like I said, they can  put on astronaut suits on themselves and its not going to change how i feel about them. Its just that maybe i won't be so eager to say how much i like that kind of style . you know what i mean ? haha

i don't remember seeing any korean males dressing like this, and we have alot of them as tourists. Guys are always like sport-ish and girls look like they came out of Gucci shop haha. It feels to me that its mostly just how companies dress idols or actors for k-dramas.

Oh I do agree with digging the "sexy" look on occasions

  10. Agree

I'm American, and from the South...so I understand why someone might make a comment like that becuase of social views and the idea of an adult man*. Some in my family would too.

Most cultures in the world think like this too, except maybe some Asian countries (whose men already have a stereotype of being cute and sometimes feminine by Westerners...)

*If it was a woman no one would bat an eye tbh*

Some guys probably would do a concept like this, if they were getting paid or their significant other asked (which is why I mentioned commercials, weddings and family photoshoots)

Basically I don't agree with society putting guys into a box. It's funny, being into kpop actually changed my views about these things.

    Sorry so much rambling herelaugh.png

i'll put in spoiler cuz its off topic

im from balkan, europe. men here are like, gorillas trying to shove their masculinity in our  faces, and not with abs only, but with beer belly too. its "cool". Us girls have sometimes hard time with having even equal rights with them (new gens are better tho). I hate it...

I dont like them for girls aswell, same as when they put them in highschool uniforms . As for girls here, well yea they always try go be super mature and look sexy.  I don't like that either, i just like... normal clothes and normal make up and hair . casual  ? Im just more casual type of person haha

Idk i am not fan of  innocent/pure kpop pictorials and shootings. they're just not my style. i dont bash them , but i dont find them visually pleasant.

Same as how i don't exactly like  bowlcuts on males. i get it that girls like it but just cuz i like kpop doesnt mean i have to like it.

its just something that i dont find attractive on guys haha.

God, i sure sound nitpicky when re-reading this

  11. Yea we'll just have agree to disagree about the infantile comment

Personally having fun outside, being relaxed or even cute is not a kids image to me lol...These types of concept can be  used in commercials, wedding, family or etc photo shoots.

    it depends where you're raised

i don't see such image of both boys or girls after they're like 16+ , white silky shirts, flowers, that "pure" image doenst exist. here everyone wants to be sexy and look mature etc. Maybe just maybe only weddings for females, but it depends on theme.

its just different culture so i get where is Augusto coming from haha

    edit: i topped so

  12.

in their usa stop they said multiple times that they're gonna see them again next year

they said the same for europe on both berlin dates i was on, it wasnt just on NA leg . i think to canadian fans they said aswell (not sure of that one)

i just saw them first time last month after FIVE years of waiting, trust me i know how it feels to keep waiting.

its not their last tour before enlistment aswell. theres still one more left.

    don't lose hope !

  13. Haha Im older gen fans actually so yeah...I mean its just my personal assessment cause I have many nonkpop fans (most of em actually) but this year for GG they only know or follow: BLACKPINK (of course) and the other is PD48 show = IZ*ONE (due to TV cable - mainly they watched kdramas there but the push was strong in ads, and airtime slot was primetime as well for PD Shows so...)

Sent from my SM-G950F using OneHallyu mobile app

yeah you must be somewhere from SEA countries then? i've heard kpop is popular there

unlike here in Europe, kpop and TV is something thats never going to happen haha.

It would be interesting to see if people would watch k-dramas though.

sorry this is completely off-topic so here a pic of pretty Miyeon :

  14. Yeah I know but I mean one reason why MNET groups are easier to get fans outside of kpop world is that esp in my country TvN channel mainly push the Produce show more than local kpop agency ever did plus TvN will show live on tv MAMA as well compared to last MGA or Soribada (Vlive yes but we all know nonkpop fans are unlikely to install one)

Sent from my SM-G950F using OneHallyu mobile app

I don't know if its cuz of TV. young generations don't really watch TV anymore. Maybe it depends which country you're talking about.

you don't need to install vllive to watch it on PC haha

    PC>phone for streaming :P

  15. I think its the only award shown on TvN cable as well??? One other reason why W1 and IZ*ONE is so popular to nonkpopfans around the world

If my memory serves me right, every award show is being aired on korean tv that also has livestream on either youtube/vlive/those kpop pages for streaming.

Mnet is simply a known brand already, especially cuz of flashy performances. it was known as MKMF ten years ago and it was already being on uploaded on youtube.

And produce groups are popular because of Mnet's good marketing and because of that brand that they created.

  16. Thanks for this smile.png. I guess groups get the most recognition from MAMA than seeing as its the "flashiest"? it probably gains a lot of attention than if you compare it to teen choice awards. Would be nice for them to win that just to help grow themselves more but I don't see MNET giving them it with Izone around.

MAMA is the biggest among ifans because its uploaded and streamed on Mnets youtube channel, which is pretty popular. (mnet countdown is also biggest among all music shows)

Back in days, when I wasn't on social media thats the only award show i was aware of . I only got to know other award shows end of 2016. when I joined forums.

I just hope we get a cool MAMA stage cuz its going to bring them alot of attention. (although I'm sad they're not going to HK date, which is the biggest one)

Also i was watching yday Smile that has left your eyes and heard Hann being played in a supermarket.
