While I agree to some of the points in this thread about how younger fans talk about age and get too far into the idols business and them dating is not our domain at all to stick our nose in, I also think the main reason fans have an issue with some of these relationships is the power imbalance between older men who are seniors in the industry with a lot of influence and their younger female partners who grew up idolizing them. Also with both GD and Heechul there are issues about their past actions and people they are associated with that certainly won't help. It is the same issue people have with western celebs like DiCaprio dating women half his age. Whether you think men dating much younger and less experienced juniors of theirs is right or wrong in general is probably the crux of whether you support the idea of these relationships or not. On stan twitter things always get hyperbolic and idiotic but I would say a good portion of those who don't like these pairs mostly keep it to themselves since they realize they have no authority on it. It is not the fans place to dictate how idols live their private lives but we are allowed our opinions on things they do that make us worried. And obviously most ifans don't give a shit about the drug scandals lmao knets being thick again..

I was gonna leave this be but since you call me dishonest I feel like I have to respond. I have only love for Tzuyu. I have only stated the obvious that her akgaes aren't onces and are the biggest block of akgaes Twice has by far. You have failed to provide any evidence on fans disappointed with line distribution contributing in a significant way to their charting. Your dislike for Nayeon and frankly most of Twice is the actually apparent thing here. You don't happen to be one of these Tzuyu akgaes I keep mentioning? Yes Twice brand is heavily centered on OT9 being always together. If you claim them sticking with that has allowed their popularity to drop from "immense" to just high then you might have a point. It's actually a more compelling argument towards explaining their charting going downhill with every comeback than your idea of the line distribution suddenly causing a huge issue. Yes Momo can sing. She is the weakest singer and gets the least lines but she can hold a note. If you claim she can't you have obviously only listened to a fraction of their live stages and nothing else OR you are just an anti. And before you switch goalposts you claimed most of the group could not sing but these "scandals" about their singing are mostly just about Momo having to sing lines clearly not well suited for her for some reason. Your argument is "give her more lines" when it would better serve as "give them songs that suit her voice". However no sane producer or company decides on a title track based on one members range who is the weakest singer anyway. The difference is obvious with their bsides. If Nayeon can't sing that chorus in your opinion then obviously those others would not either. You don't sound harsh you sound like every generic Twice anti since 2016. Whole fanbases are never happy but the vast majority is. Just accept the disagreement and move on because I'm not going to entertain this any more.

Oh you can go on twitter and find an example of anything you want. 95% of the complaints will still be Tzuyu akgaes who could care less about the group. True visual position is meaningless in a group full of them, hence why it does not matter. Tzuyu is one part of the puzzle and she sells the group with the others just fine. Though frankly this has nothing to do with line distribution. Them being advertised always as a group wasn't the strategy from the start but it became one after they hit it big. It hasn't hurt them one iota during their peak years when they were the most sought after girl group in SK. It's become their brand and the members always mention how they want to keep it that way. You finding Nayeon's popularity obnoxious sounds like a you problem. All 9 members can sing. Some are in the group mainly for other things tho. The scandals have all been exaggerated or about a weird line given to the wrong member. Clearly you haven't followed them closely bcs you parrot these takes and won't acknowledge any evidence to the contrary. I'm not gonna go into details on members in other groups because I'm not here to bash anyone I'm not invested in but most groups don't have more than 1 or 2 good singers. The other members in those groups would not be able to pull off ICSM chorus. There are groups with less good main vocalists too. And once again...there is no problem here besides maybe in your head. Twice line distribution has had similar trends from 2015 and you think suddenly everyone went crazy about it after 5 years? Anyway I sense this exchange is not going to lead anywhere that constructive so maybe we should just agree to disagree. Onces are happy with the song and album and most other metrics besides korean charts are doing good like I said.

Yes there is a trend in kpop for IDOLS to chart worse as the public has been losing interest in them for a while. There are other types of artists filling up the charts where it used to be more idol groups. Twice is still doing well in japanese charts and on international metrics and views etc. Their physical sales are second only to m&m. Nothing points to fans of 7 members boycotting this cb. In fact I have never seen a fan of Dahyun or Momo or Sana or Mina for example saying they are treated so badly by jype they wish those members would leave the group. Tzuyu akgaes do this all the time. They are not just tzuyu biased they ONLY care about her hence they are not onces. Yes the "twice can't sing" argument derives mainly from encores which are them fooling around while the times they sing well are just ignored. If YOU were following them closely you would know they can all sing perfectly well when given lines that suit them. I'm not saying they are great singers but neither are most idols in other groups. Twice has no official visual position. It's obvious jype does not want another suzy situation and are even going as far as not giving solo jobs for ANY members for the most part. Also idk why you care so much about members whose skills you keep dissing getting more lines? The only consistent opinion among the fandom at large throughout the years has been that Jeongyeon should get more lines, and that is because she sings well.

I'm a fan of all 9 and jihyo is not my bias (neither is nayeon). Their charting follows greater trends in kpop idol circles and they have been doing worse digitally since YOY which is clearly more of a gp problem than a fandom issue. Nayeon is the most popular member no matter the reason so it still makes sense to give her more lines. Pretending they are great singers by giving them songs...they can't sing? Yeah sounds like a great strategy indeed..... Main point is this: I do not consider this an issue because I don't consider tzuyu akgaes fans. Their whining has zero relevance to me or any actual onces.

It isn't an issue to most people. the producers give the lines to those best suited for them and yes I want the song to sound the best it can rather than dumb it down so akgaes can be happy. Nayeon is the most popular member and center of the group too. 7 members sing half the song (actually more bcs adlibs take a lot of nahyos lines like I said) and they also contribute to the performance in other ways. Other members have sung chorus lines in title tracks that are easier to sing like in signal or what is love for example. Does this "issue" only exist intermittently when nayeon gets a lot of lines but goes away when she gets less? When did anyone "pretend" they are superstar singers? What does that even mean?

Why is a "fair" distribution better? Also take out adlibs and it becomes much "fairer" already. I just don't see the benefit of giving those high notes to someone who can't handle them when nayeon is already on the limit with them. And even if they sing with prerecorded vocals they have to actually sing them.. There are very different line distributions in their bsides and even momo has chorus lines in there. ICSM is still more challenging than most of the other songs brought up in the op.

9 month gap between releases and first ot9 cb in a year last time resulted in fans going all out..now theres only 4 months gap added with upcoming jpn single, a jpn compilation album just recently and lots of merch + it's not an ot9 cb again also this is by far their second highest day1 on hanteo

Are you saying they should not have used the song they picked or are you saying all 9 should have had equal lines in ICSM? Just give nayeon and jihyo the adlibs and nothing more?

The line distributions change sometimes wildly from song to song and the easier the songs are to sing the higher chance for equal lines. Twice had a lot more equal lines in m&m but that song did not have a vocal heavy chorus unlike ICSM. Personally I prefer the lines be given based on singing skills and fitting the song well rather than for some "fairness" argument. In none of these groups are the best and worst singers on a level playing field.

I see we are back to 2016 level topics. Twice must be doing too well to get everyone talking. Guess what? It's an encore straight after they performed and were visibly tired from their hard choreo. The mic sound levels differ and they won't hear the music well with the backing track missing. This happens with tons of other groups all the time but only Twice gets these trending topics for their worst singer sounding bad when her part is too long for her and doesn't fit her at all. There was nothing like this during Fancy or Feel Special eras..because her parts were much better hence she sounded better. For those saying jype treats their groups like entertainers instead of singers....I don't know how long you've been a kpop fan but that is literally what idols are: ENTERTAINERS Twice has garnered a huge following because of their songs and personalities (and yes visuals play a part). No one claims they are the best singers out there but they all have their own set of skills which are perfectly enough. Those who say they haven't improved sound honestly stupid and it's clear a lot of people talking about this just looked for a reason to bash them.

Problem is the way they make her sing..just listen to her in the Taemin covers or Feel Special it suits her so much more. Besides that she outdances 99% of other female idols and dancing is an integral part of kpop idol industry. Again she is not a singer she is an idol. The trashing of her and twice vocals is so old already we have been through this since 2015 thousands of times. Most members have improved heaps since then but that's very rarely acknowledged.

First of all there ARE a lot of good vocalists in kpop and many of them very underrated as well so I'm always wondering why the people complaining about the lack of vocals are not stanning them then. Also I don't know how many times it has to be said that singing is only a part of the job description for them and for the majority it's not the main skill they are trained in. Idols ARE NOT SINGERS they are called idols for a reason because their whole business model is very different from that of the artists and singers who these people could also stan if they actually care that much about singing technique. If the idols satisfy their fans with their performance and charms and attract more fans in the process they've done their job well. Mind you technique is not everything when it comes to enjoying someone's singing performance but their tone and emoting are just as if not more important to the masses who let's be honest barely understand a thing about vocal technique anyway..

I have a hard time with many other groups but never with Twice (though tbf I listen to Twice the most). I'm not sure what you mean by natural tone since Nayeon and Sana have surely sang with their natural voice in most their songs and Momo is the only one who was forced to sing in a weird way until more recently. A lot of their songs are a tad high for most of them and out of their most comfortable range (I think all 9 members sound much better when singing lower than a lot of their title tracks).

I think often people forget that idols are NOT singers. Their job is to entertain with various skills and charms and dancing is the only one all of them need to be at least decent at since bad dancers stick out too much in a performance. If they can follow the choreo then it's good enough usually. For singing each group has some members that hard carry that side of the job with others being weaker (unless you are Mamamoo). Most important is are the songs good and not if the subvocalists have nice technique or not. It's important that the performance looks good and less so if some member can't freestyle dance even at gunpoint.

The ridiculousness of youtube comments aside if you claim to be a stan and can't differentiate the members voices without visual aides there is definitely smth wrong with your hearing (twice members voices are also VERY distinct from each other lol)

I usually just lurk but I gotta get this off my chest. If you don't want to come across as "coming for Twice" in a negative way then perhaps don't use words such as "yikes", "pander", "ingenuine" etc. Add to this mischaracterizing not just their fandom demographics but also implying their interactions are not honest.. Jeongyeon is not the most uncomfortable with skinship Jihyo is.. The members always say Jeongyeon has a tsundere type personality where she is sometimes cold and sometimes very affectionate. We just mostly see the colder side of her. Finally Nayeon x Jeongyeon is the longest and most intimate friendship (or whatever they may be to each other) within the group so you posting this as a quote to a long post about them when they can't possibly be more genuine with their interactions is weird to me.. Now I'm not saying that from a business point of view JYPE doesn't try to use ships in some ways but as a fan it's not to the level described in your post.

I'm sure many onces would gladly watch the showcases from a crappy lagging stream if it was available so a big screen is super nice if it's affordable enough imo
