YG is just trying to use some Western "hype" marketing techniques with his artists which I understand - the longer the wait, the more anticipated people become = more $$$$. If you keep putting out material every single year (seasonally in some Kpop groups), you burn out fast and you may become known as a "quick lil singles" artist. However he should've debuted Blackpink with an album, maybe then a 2 year wait until the next would be practical. It could be worse. Adele's album "25" was released four years after her sophomore "21". Lauryn Hill only released one album in her whole career, in fears that she could not recreate the success of the first. Maybe this is what YG was doing? Was Square 1 + 2 basically pre release tracks testing the waters for BP????

New to this thread, but I'm hype for their debut! I wonder what sound JYP will give to them. I know for a fact it won't be similar to Twice lol. They may retain some youthful/bright qualities but not on Twice's spectrum. I'm thinking a similar sound to 'Boombayah'? Girl crush but still feminine. When Somi got her hair cut I immediately thought of the slayage Rihanna served with her Good Girl Gone Bad era. A hint maybe?

I've noticed YG has been influenced a lot by Rihanna's music for his girl groups (I Don't Care was heavily inspired by Hating On The Club lmao). I really don't want a So Hot 2.0 though. Its a cute bop but it sounds like a Tinashe reject. Maybe its too early for BP to have their IATB/Genie/Mister but if I'm waiting a damn year for a cb it better be.

So if it has been said that their CB is going to be "dark" what does that entail lmao. Does that mean the concept (colours, clothing, setting) is dark or the song itself? I can imagine Blackpink tackling darker lyrics but I have a feeling that its going to be a evolution of PWF (the song is like finding out a guy is cheating but deciding to stay). I would die if BP's producers came thru with a 90s Timbaland inspired beat, since I'm starting to see a trend with more 90s styled production happening (Finesse ha impact). Just wondering, since YG is obviously trying to make BP the next big thing in Japan and China rather than Korea (which I understand, Korea's music industry is so small), what kind of concepts do people like over there? Do they prefer more stronger concepts + image rather than Korea's taste for BP's "Pink" side? I don't mind BP's softer, sweeter image but I think they truly shine when they embrace their "Black" side. I know the music scene is pretty diverse in Japan, yes they do have the innocent concept GGs but they also have very girl crush esque artists e.g Namie Amuro and Kumi Koda.

Hey guys! Just popped in to say I think I'm on my way to becoming a Momoland stan I always knew about them but didn't fully check them out until Bboom Bboomsus. Shame on me for that because they are producing BOPTSSS. I'm really excited to see them finally get them coins and I think this quirky-retro concept works really well because no new gen GGs are doing that rn. A T-ara tea (hopefully they can replicate T-ara's impact too). My fave member so far is Daisy! She's so cute, she reminds me a lot of Chinese actress Zhao Liying. That cute bunny-ish face!

I love it!!! It was a bit of a risk going for a more mid tempo ballad, but it works, and it's not "snoozy" at all. The synths are so dreamy, really takes me back to late 80s/early 90s jams. The dresses are the right combo of ethereal + sensual (I LIVE FOR THEIR LEGSSS), really nice dance formations too. My favourite part is Sorn's chorus! She sounds so good there and her heart thumping move is like the killing part for me lol.
