HUNAN TV WHYWHYWHYWHYWHY W H Y hhhhhhhhhhh I can’t at the fact that they really extended Liu Yifei’s drama for another THIRTY!30! episodes like are you kidding me. I guess they care more about money than the actual show itself. So it’s gonna 70 episodes nnnnnnn WHET. It isn’t a good choice for the drama and pacing issues will surely arise but I’m trying my best to hold my judgement. It better be worth it. Anyway, this story is supposed to be “adapted from a webtoon†but the plot isn’t even similar at all. From the first few chapters that I read of the manhua, the protagonist is supposed to help people come to terms with their heartbreaks, not have a split (evil) personality. Maybe I’m just jumping the gun here, because I don’t even know if that video was the teaser or official trailer. The trailer didn’t really seem to show any “dreamlike†scenes so I don’t know. I remember reports of Liu Yifei bringing her own scriptwriter bc they decided to give her lines to the second lead

The more I think about this, the more divided I get about Jennie. I love her and am excited about her solo (if it’s true) but I can see why there’ll be some consequences. People will call her “selfish†and blah blah, and she already gets enough hate. This is basically an invitation for akgaes and the Lisa ones are already a mess. The fandom is divided but this will make it even worse. Hopefully it won’t be an album, but just a single that gets added into BLACKPINK’s next album. And she’s debuting in November too, which is already stacked, so Teddy better provide a banger. All in all, I’m excited for her solo but I’m not totally sure that this is a good idea. A group comeback would’ve been waaaaaay better, especially around this time. It still feels early so I hope she’s prepared. They’ve been doing well after Square Up and I hope this doesn’t ruin their momentum. Good luck Jendeukie!

Ugh, haven’t been able to finish any books since summer ended. Trying out South of the Border, West of the Sun by Murakami. It’s okay so far...

The Rise of Phoenixes on ep 30. I like the show, the production value is through the roof and acting is awesome. The storyline is pretty well done for me but I’m still seeing pacing issues. Flashbacks are also another issue, like they’re just spoon feeding us the info. I’m annoyed that they would spend a whole 15 minute (1/3 of the episode) on one conversation and barely give us any OTP moments, which was dumb considering the actors and their chemistry. I mean, people said the book also didn’t have a lot of romance but I think it would’ve been a good idea if they changed that. Regarding pacing issues, I can’t help but compare this show to Game of Thrones. GoT was able fit in (most) a 700 page book in 10 episodes. And this show has less storylines than GoT but it took them 15 episodes to start killing some people. And the uneven amount of screen time makes it the pacing even slower because they spend so much time on the princes that the other storylines takes even longer to develop.
