Started Nan-Core (Yurigokoro) by Mahokaru Numata and it’s pretty good so far. I’m only reading bc there’s a movie adaptation starring Yuriko Yoshitaka lolol

YUP So many ppl were doubting Anya as Yen but she killed it. Jaskier? PERFECTION. Love the exchanges between Geralt, Yen and Jaskier. I wasn’t disappointed, it’s solid 8.5/10 show. I read the book and (follow the subreddit) so I followed it pretty well, but I could see ppl got confused with the timelines. Plus, they adapted the short stories so it’s not exactly gonna follow a linear storyline. I’m muuuuch more excited for S2, bc that’s when they’re going to start on the main story and everything will make more sense.

How the fuck do you ruin 8 years of character development. If the leaks are true about the ending (it’s been true so far in the season), then what was the point of the Targaryen reveal? Rhaegar and Lyanna? Cersei should’ve just fucking killed them all with those ballistas and end the goddamn show right there.

I finished “Dream of Ding Village†by Yan Lianke, and while I got the message and the allegory, the book kinda fell flat for me tbh. The characters weren’t really developed and I didn’t care for them, but I did appreciate their respective storylines. Maybe this is just from a western perspective, but the characters got somewhat annoying at times, but then again this takes place in rural 90s China. I liked his use of imagery and metaphors, but I felt like they were overdone and at some point, felt repetitive. He did a good job painting a bleak and sad picture though. It’s long but pretty fast paced, even though I think he could’ve cut back some pages. It’s not boring, but it didn’t really suck me in either. This is the first time I read a novel from this author, and it was more or less “OKAYâ€.
