  1. Dream upon dreams: a rapline album. Agreed on a lot of your points (yesplz sensual dance-rapper Hobi) -- RM has been ready to release a new mixtape for awhile it seems, but was able to go into producing to develop himself and probably satiate his appetite for it. Given the amount of time he has had, I am really anxious to see what he will do with it. I don't know if I could see them doing a full album for profit that he promoted -- do rappers outside of idol groups promote on the music shows? Or are there specific music shows to promote new rap releases? I do not understand the world of K-Hip Hop/K-Rap. On the note of RM getting shaded, I was in this glorious bubble for the first few months of my BTS fan, RM loving life because I had absolutely no social media associated with my budding obsession and did not follow k-media or k-pop at all. So I just watched Bangtan Bombs, Problematic Man, the old things like AHL and Rookie King -- and it was only when I joined tumblr to get more content that I even found out that, like, everyone didn't love RM the most? It legitimately shocked me. (Aside-aside, I am so proud of BTS for finally getting the recognition they deserve in recent months, but there is a part of me that dislikes it when people imply it is because their old music was bad. It wasn't bad. A lot of my playlists are still Skool Luv Affair and Dark & Wild-heavy. They are a bit more commercial now with title tracks, maybe, but I don't think they have fundamentally changed. I think of it more as natural maturation and evolution.) I was not around when RM's RM (har) dropped, but I can only imagine what nonsense he faced. Which is why I want his new mixtape to hold above my head like Rafiki lifting Simba. I had never heard that before! I feel more comfortable talking in the RM thread because it is less broken up by images/multiple threads of conversation and centers on RM, who I want to talk about the mostest. I do worry that I end up naturally bringing up things that are not 100% RM and are RM adjacent through conversation. Please feel free to correct me if I am doing this too much.
  2. Makes sense. RM does seem to have mentioned his a bit more than Hobi has mentioned his recently, but if I remember correctly from interviews I have watched in the past, Yoongi and RM were both talking about their mixtapes when RM's came out -- yes? (Someone with more longevity would know better, I imagine.) I was thinking in the broader spectrum of timing the release of their content. I think it would be problematic to release mixtapes in close proximity because it would increase the comparisons even more -- and I like when they pepper us with releases over time --, which I understand the impulse to some degree but still found annoying when Yoongi's mixtape came out. I love BOTH of them, for different reasons. So it always rankled me to see some fans bickering about whose was "better," especially when that had some fans being salty during Yoongi's moment to shine. And I say this as an RM-biased (well... a bit Sugamon-biased, really) fan. So for that reason, I do hope they are at least spaced out. BUT I hope Hobi doesn't get Yoongi levels of perfectionism and make us wait years.
  3. Do you think they would make RM wait to release his until Hobi does? Also, always impressed by long-term ARMY. I only learned what K-Pop was, really, in March... because someone showed me RM rapping.
  4. More or less echoing what has been said here. I assumed this upcoming album would be a repackage, even with the Interlude. I imagine it will follow a similar model to YF and I am suuuuuuuper hoping that we will finally get to hear the full version of that A-YO song Yoongi did that they have been teasing forever since it didn't show up on WINGS or his mix tape. Like a "Fire" for a new era. (Granted, maybe the song was just radically changed and we have heard it already, but if they were that excited about it I feel like it is on the BH shelf currently, awaiting deployment.) We also got a taste of a different mix of the Interlude in the preview for the WINGS tour -- that super banging version I would like in full ASAP. HOWEVER, I would die a thousand beautiful deaths if it really is a second half to the album, ESPECIALLY if it included them doling out some mix-and-match subunits. I like to imagine the production conversation at BigHit when they released WINGS with all the solos and were like, "All right, guys, let's hit them with this first version at the end of the year, throw all the solos on there, really gear them up, and then let's blow their minds with the second one." And then to see all the positive recognition W-I-N-G has gotten so far? Poetry. I felt blessed to receive Cypher pt 4. The greed is too real to think I could get another rap line track in the next album. I also imagine they will drop it around late January, early February, to allow them a short promotion period -- but then be able to trot out that new music during the WINGS tour, starting at the Seoul dates. (And I super selfishly hope this is true so that I can see whatever new stuff they have in March when they come to Newark.) But the fact that they chose to tease it at this Gayo makes me wonder if we could get it even earlier, maybe in mid-January. When did they first tease WINGS? I remember Bon Voyage wrapped up, Yoongi's mixtape dropped, and then it was like, BAM WINGS SHORT FILMS. September maybe? And then it actually released in October. Though if it is just a repackage, I will still be happy. I feel very spoiled as a BTS fan with the amount of musical content we receive. I only learned like... three weeks ago that most groups consider an "album" to be, like, 4 songs? Sometimes 8? What is that? BTS mini-albums could eat other full albums. And... to be more RM-focused: I forgot where it was mentioned that they all got new roommates, and now V and RM live together, yes? I want to hear more about that. Come on, Namjoon. Hit us with some stories in your next V-Live. I love the Vmon friendship and tend to think it is underrated. [edit] Mmm... I say "I imagine" a lot.
  5. Waking up to all this BTS content is a beautiful gift from BigHit Heaven. Blessed. Thank you. Jimin is so charming in all of these interviews and then so powerful on stage. RISE, SHY PHOENIX. (Shout out to the girls in the background of him Taemin interview giggling at their interactions and then giggling again at Jimin when he got nervous to reenactment a part from a Twice song. Everything the light touches is your kingdom.) I loved the collaboration because both of them are so expressive. And even in moments when they were not perfectly in sync, their overall lines were beautiful. As for the Classroom Idea performance, I am happy. I loved all the RM focus and lol'd (happily) at the return of Rapper JK. Hobi sounded great too, but I couldn't initially tell it was him rapping because the camera was having a seizure. RM always looks a little thrown when he has to lipsync, which like many of you have said is a good thing to me. I like that they kept the choreo simple. All in all, it was a strong performance with some great visual impact. Yay, team. And... happy birthday, Tae!
  6. Oh, damn -- right! He was a baby. I forget constantly that he and V are so close in age. Even his mannerisms come across older to me. I think about KCON NY when he was MCing with Ailee. They started to walk off stage as the lights were dimming so he turned and reached out to take her hand and guide her down the stairs in the darkness. Like a total gentleman. I also think about that article someone recently posted of the interview with PDogg and his references to them having all the trainees in early BTS days write a song a week. What beautiful treasure trove of angsty teen feelings belonging to Hobi, Yoongi, and RM lurk in those vaults? OPEN YOUR COMPUTER FOR US, PDOGG. But really, if these were the released ones -- magic awaits.
  7. I am just hoping they have that line about using dialect shouted out loud and proud in some A+++ satoori by the likes of Jungkook, Jimin, Yoongi, Tae, and Hobi.
  8. If it was at a fan sign, I am sure he would come up with something wry and clever to avoid a direct response, and if they pressed the issue, I would imagine it being a comment about everyone being young once~ I think people forget how young he is all the time. That was done predebut, yes? So when he was like... 19? 20? Feelin' himself. I approve. Though my favorite feelin-myself-release is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBJm_0tWZuU Welcome! Post lots. He definitely is the center, non-dance wise, of BTS in many ways. @long brilliant conversations -- so much I would like to add, but must spend time with family. I hope to read that BTS as Literature article soon also!
  9. Proud Dance Dad Hobi was all smiles and pats on the back: "That'll do, Jimin. That'll do." But real talk I love how they all lean in to give him a congratulations. OT7 Bangtan Family.
  10. Catching up with the main thread after my days of absence is more intimidating than catching up here so HERE I AM. Several people mentioned this one -- The fact that I was born is frightening BUT HELLYEAH. Just wanted to give that a resounding, internet highfive. Total aside -- but, to me, this is when I feel RM embracing some Yoongi-directness. He says it with such rawness. Something about the "empty, hot stage" rips at my heart. @conversation about influences -- My sister is a diehard Yoongi stan, but I had a personal preference for RM out of the gate. My sister told me she thought it was because I actually listen to rap, in general -- American rap. So I can't say with authority if this is the case, but it rings as relevant. [edit] I screwed up all my quoting -- APOLOGIES.
  11. BigHit also released that statement saying they would legally go after anyone who continued to contrive situations to try and tarnish BTS and their image. I think they mean more like the person who sped up the video of V playing with a fan's hair to make it look like he was aggressively pulling it, BUT hopefully that will make people be slightly less stupid. I hope? Christmas miracle?
  12. Now, the eternal question: do I stay up for it like garbage since I don't work tomorrow, or go to bed like a good adult?
  13. My favorite lyrics of his definitely aren't! But I do love his playful side too. For example, from DO YOU: Haters gon hate and players gon play Mufuckas keep mufuckin all day Follow my shit, my friend and I’ll pay I should have that as my ringtone. Or, like, on loop when people are annoying me. [edit] Blergh, double post -- sorry!
  14. I'm so sorry. No one deserves to feel that way. My country has made me feel ashamed before, but especially now.
  15. I MEAN IF WE ARE TALKING THIRST LYRICS... Dissertations are my fave. Duh, we are RM stans. To speak at length is to live. [EDIT] I'm going with multiple short posts as the inspiration hits so that discussion can flow~ I don't think I could just choose three. My heart and head would explode.
  16. I don't know if I can do it all in one post because HOLY TEXT WALL so I will start with the song that I have professed my love for multiple times -- "Life" from his mixtape. My favorite RM is drinking RM? (I think I say my "favorite RM" is a lot of things.) Another great example of him cleanly expressing the struggle of existence. It makes me think of how he likes to take trips alone to beautiful places to be with his thoughts. The awareness of the beauty in the world, the solitude of your individual journey. Solipsism at its finest -- this idea that the only thing we can know for certain is real are the thoughts in our own heads, that everything else is perception. I love how he touches on the idea of the world bursting into existence when you do because that is the moment you start constructing what reality is. This is such a beautiful way to describe the futility at times of existence. Does what we say matter? Do these thoughts matter? I love his comparison of it to a breeze, a temporary fleeting moment -- kind of coupled with the briefness of our own existence in the larger world.
  17. I am in the mood to discuss RM today (and all days) so if you are bored like me and want to chat, head over to the RM thread to discuss some of your favorite RM lyrics?
