'A Little Life' is so heartbreakingly good nglI pledged 50 books for this year's Goodreads challenge.
Currently, I'm juggling three books:Sorcerer to the Crown - Zen Cho
A Little Life - Hanya Yanagihara
The Thousandth Floor - Katherine McGee

Divergent came out in what 2011? 2012? The amount of books between then and now which all share the same base is just crazy. And most are just so shallow. Poor character development, storylines with no grip, supporting characters who are just props to drive the story forward, settings that are there just for the sake of selling the book. Honestly, I can understand initially wanting to read a book which is "like Hunger Games" but I cant comprehend how people can continue to eat the same stuff up again and again after a while.
Idk I'm just rambling here but I feel so disappointed that one of the most popular genres amongst the mainstream is so dead in inspiration and originality now.
I admit to kinda liking 'Divergent' because the story stupidly carried through. You're right; there's no proper plot, no characterisations (somehow the heroine is just cool and the badass, broody guy becomes the boyfriend... like wtf), no reasons why the things the way they are. It just is. Sometimes I think the books are so dumb- like dumb- with no sense of style of inspiration for the younger generation, and people wonder why the millennials prefer tablets and phones over a good book. Nowadays, if the kids do read it's either badly written erotica (aka '50 Shades') or badly written dystopian stories (aka 'Divergent'). Now I can't even complain about Harry Potter because it gives inspiration and originality (although the writing isn't good), elements that most books absolutely lack.

So I've read 37 books so far this year. A good chunk are YA books. While some of them are pretty decent reads, some being surprisingly good imo, some just make me question how these books ever got published. Especially some in the urban fantasy/dystopia genre. There's also books I haven't read in the YA fantasy genre but I've seen the synopsis of and I have to wonder why the entire genre is cluttered with books which sound exactly the same as each other. I wonder if The Hunger Games blowing up actually killed any inspiration in the genre. Most plots sound like knockoffs of each other.
So true. I read 'Divergent' and wondered if there's such thing as originality or creativity anymore.

I think so too, maybe it has similar plot w/ MLFAS drama. Anyway it so nice to see you again after MDBC ends
I hope it's another global success. I already find the characters kinda cheesy; Lee Min Ho's character is a conman... I'm guessing the mermaid is going to find out falling in love with someone who lies for a living may not bode well.
I have yet to finish MDBC
just going to let it drag for a bit hahaha I know the drama will really end once I finish the final episode, and I refuse to let that go -
the third teaser kinda reminds me of 'My Love from the Star' of how the romance began in the old times when KSH met the young ver of JJH in Joseon or sth. The love transcends time and space... does this drama play along the same plot line?

Bless him, he looks so tired

OK I REALLY NEED TO CATCH UP NOWFinally a romance in Pokemon!!!

I understand how you feel.
Maybe our difference is that I have huge intereset in BDSM thingYou like historical fiction? I recommend you my most favorite historical romance writer, Lisa Kleypas!!! her style of writing is really easy to read yet still giving off classic vibe - which really helps a non native speaker like me
For your taste (thrilling+historical) +romance for your liking, +a little bit humour too; I recommend you this, a really fascinating one!
Lisa Kleypas - Love in The Afternoon

It's a love story that happens during Crimean war, the male character is a captain and the female character has fondness to take care animal, she's also really lovely and kind of funny, which truly a character I've never seen before! They sent love letter to each other until the captain went back to Hampshire - and it's only the prologue The rest are... wow
I'm not usually into extrovert kind of girls and humour things (more like suffering, tear inducing, swooning, and very hot sex kind of thing ), but this books is a really game changer!! Trust me, it's a very good story. I think it suits more into your liking
But this is still my number 1 historical romance ever.
If you haven't read this, I recommend it to you <3
Lisa Kleypas - Devil in Winter

Oh, this love story of Sebastian st. Vincent and Evangeline Jenner is simply the the best for me
Btw I already got myself a copy of Misconduct Do you have any romance+thriller recommendation for me?
If you are interested in BDSM, you must've read '50 Shades'
please tell me it ain't so
I'm not interested in reading these stories myself; I only like 'Consequences' because there's a conspiracy, a revenge spanning 2 generations, that makes the trilogy stands out from the rest. I was a bit cautious because the plot was similar to '50 Shades', but thank goodness I was proven wrong
I've added the book on GR ! I'll take a look when I have time, thanks ~ and I sent a couple of recommendations to you on GR

EDIT I can't believe you already bought 'Misconduct'

Tony is actually really sweet behind all his hard surface I've fallen for him but I HATE him Have you read this?

This one is BLESSSSSS for anyone who's suffering throuhout the series
What genre do you like?
Aren't they all though
I think Anthony has redeemable qualities in the last instalment, but I honestly couldn't find it in my heart to forgive him after the first book. He was so brutal and absolutely unforgiving. Actually, I don't know why this series works for me because I find Claire infuriating for deciding to stay with him despite the cruelty inflicted on her. Like, are you of sound mind gurll
And nope, I haven't read anything beyond 'Behind His Eyes', which proved a little disappointing.
As for genre, I'm mostly into psychological thrillers and historical fiction. I'm reading Krystal Wade's 'Asleep' right now, which is boring as heck.
thank you that's what i did during the summer break, so i guess i have to wait until the winter break to get some more reading done then ><"" or lose some sleep...
No matter how good a book is I'm sure it's not worth losing sleep over

STILLs - Lee minho

what are you doing here, eh

He looks similar to his character in 'City Hunter'
-
Which part is unforgettable for you?
Mine is when she goes from a country to another country THAT'S FUCKIN THRILLING
But the most traumatic yet the sweet ones are still the days they spend on the house and then their babies I bawled in the corner of my bed for days because of them Too many sweet, yet heart breaking scene in this novel
I personally don't find the side stories for 'Consequences' that good... they're just repeating what I already read in her three books. What's more, I find reading through Claire's eyes more effective than through Anthony's (I still can't accept "Tony" lmao) because it's more realistic and definitely electrifying.
I recommend 'Misconduct' by Penelope Douglas if you haven't read it
it's not for me personally, but I think you'll like itI think the most bizarre scene for me was Claire accepting Anthony's proposal. Like wtf woman, you want to marry your captor who has mentally scarred you; threatened if you don't abide with his bible of rubbish rules; used you for his sadistic pleasure?! It didn't make sense to me; if I were her, I'd get the hell out and make sure I would never ever see the man who made my life a hellish nightmare! Yes; she fell for him, so I can't relate to her wanting to stay with him. I only see his wealth and punctuality as his... "better" points. I honestly don't see any good points after he struck and threw her across the room... I kinda lost it there tbh

HI~
FINALLY I FIND SOMEONE WHO'S ALEATHA'D I DON'T WANNA TO BE ALONE HERE
Once I'm "Aleatha'd" all my romance novel become so pale in comparison I don't find a romance book that's more thrilling than "Consequences" series and up until now I don't find romance that is excited enough to read
Shortly it's too impactful and traumatic. I even need to cut my reading challenge from 20 to 5 cause it's hard for me to find another ride
Still can't move on from this book for months
Lmaoo you're not alone I swear
her 'Consequences' series really made an impact for many readers, moi included
have you read the entire series? 'Truth' and 'Conviction'? I personally find 'Consequences' (the first instalment) the best compared to the sequels but hey, that's perhaps for you to find out
You're right; I didn't find any books as good of the same genre after 'Consequences'.... I guess you can read her other books which belong to 'Tales from the Dark Side' or something. I tried reading her other stuff, but after having read 'Consequences', I feel like she's another Dan Brown: once reading a few of her books, you've pretty much read all her other novels. Gotta say though, I have re-read 'Consequences' ever since because it's just so goooood <3
if you haven't read sequels to 'Consequences', we can read them together? T'was such a memorable ride /sighs
dang, there's so many good book recommendations but ain't got no time...
have to read so much texts for my college classes, can't read for leisure
someone tell me how they manage
It's impossible for me. I had to give up reading for a while for something else more pressing at the time because it took up much of my time and proved a great distraction if I were to juggle both at the same time. If you really love reading as I think you do, I would allocate a section of or use your entire spare time reading lel what I pretty much did during college was had a reading-spree in the holidays and had shut myself up like a hermit to go through a few stacks
but I don't recommend anti-social behaviour to anybody -
Loving KYJ's bangs <3
-
Your taste ain't bad my friend
I'll find ya on GR

I saw Showbiz Korea giving an exclusive interview with Ji Chang Wook
wae can't I find the link on YT...
-
I'm really glad the crew has returned to Korea; I heard so many rumours concerning the actors getting touched inappropriately, esp PBG and his cringing from fans' touch. Not sure if this was caused by hate towards the Filipinos, which I think not because what would the reason be?, but am relieved this is over.
OMG I want to go so much

-
I might believe their speculations if i dont know the work of each agency...but knowing that blossom and sidus have rules of their own im pretty much sure they want to do separate interviews cause they are on different agency plus they want their actors and actress to be known individually not as a pair. Also i read bogum has 10 schedules interviews already for that day so im pretty much sure doing this is better. ©pearl0024
It's understandable that those two can't always be together in interviews; it just won't happen. Different agencies aside, the two have different schedules. KYJ is probably promoting her upcoming movie and PBG will do something else, like photoshoots and adverts maybe? How can fans expect the two to do an interview together when their popularity is soaring high- and climbing still: expect them to be heck-a-loo busy busy busy!

Apparently they're doing separate interviews on Oct 26

Fans on Fb are already speculating whether the relationship between PBG and KYJ is bad

people, srsly get a grip
-
Its just bogum though. Lol eggy!! I thought you finished watching it. So the last 2 eps and special...you still havent seen it?
OMG "it's just bogum though".... !!!!! exactly, who else will I need when it's "just Bogum"?? I don't need the entire crew to shoot in Europe, Bo Gummy is surely enough for me. But where will he fly to? anybody know?
And nope... I'm such a flop stan
I barely have time right now to sit down and finish the drama
but I will do- I promise! -
Yup for photoshoot.
Which country? do you know? OMG imagine if they are shooting in the City of Love
in front of the Eiffel Towerr <33still haven't watched the last 2 episodes...flop fan -

Are those glasses what he wore in the Boombastic trailer

Anyway, I'm shouting at the screen: please leave the crew alone. No matter how nice it is to see 'em enjoying themselves, I can't help but wish people would leave them be. Just- no.
On another note, KYJ wears glasses? geeky girl

-
Ugh I wish I could post vids on my phone! Fb has so many fan vids of their arrival and registration at the hotel!!
EDIT OMG someone actually "bagged" the air which PBG breathed
is this really happening -
I'll catch a glimpse of Park Bo Gum and the cast today in Cebu. Wish me all the best. I will try to give him my Moonlight fanart and a congratulations (drama) letter. Waaa. There will be a lot of people/fans for sure I'll edit this post later and post fanart I made.
Good luck~ I have a feeling they'll be whisked off in a back entrance of the airport, having fully foreseen what the situation will be. You never know though!
-
its not like all Kdramas i watched tbvhhh, i didnt even watch his previous dramas before MDBC,
It just the fact that everyone had their own taste, so yeah im not interested
Daymmm gurll
OFF TO CEBU W/ Team Gurumi

He looks so ordinary in his clothes
humble for an actor to dress like an ordinary person... so many use this opportunity to flash their latest gear and fashion, but not Bo Gummy <3Nah. Its not weird...i have classmates wearing that kind of glasses too and i tried wearing one its like normal.haha
Yeah there are fans who went way out of the line even hacking private IG or accounts of their faves.. It makes them look like a stalker than a fan.
Well i love tall guys too lol but i dont know why i dont get the flustered feeling whenever i see one, i mean there are koreans here sometimes but it seems the admiration feeling doesnt appear.
i only read it before that she was the one playing the teen version but seeing the filming started august i think she declined the offer due to sched conflicts. Ill find an article or source to put as evidence.lol
I remember it cause she was to star along side got 7 jinyoung as the teen version
Darling, it''s because that 1% of tall,
dark andhandsome Korean guys are all in the celebrities, leaving out those who are not so good-looking scattered around. We're not going to feel anything for them when our tastes are spoiled rotten by that 1%
Eeeeppss, hope they have fun in Cebu!
It will be funny if Bogum comes back so tanned again that his stylists will go extreme on his BB cream again. LMAO. I mean, if you guys think his BB cream were a little too much at the wrap up party, wait till you see him get tanned - his stylists will work their ways wonder.
Bogum's hair down reminds me so much of Taeeeekkie . I actually prefer his hair up. I love it when men show their forehead.
This so much ^^^
I usually find guys sexier when they show their forehead instead of having bangs over it.
Currently, I'm juggling three books:

Finally got off my lazy bum and post on here. It's been absolute ages! haven't been reading until recently when I finished 'Me Before You' (wanted to see what the fuss is all about really). I like the book, but I don't love it. I like the sad ending funnily enough, but the realism makes the story memorable and outstanding from the rest.
Anyone read Tana French? I love her books; no matter how boring a scene may be she makes it sound interesting. Love her. Reading 'Broken Harbour' now.
