  1. Obviously he didn't phrase it very well(!) as there are Trump supporters, or many who are desperate to save themselves from the virus, listen and believe consuming disinfectant at the cost of their life. Anyway, he needn't suggest something for people to act on it; because he is the President, why shouldn't they believe what he says or implies? The fact that he is spewing this kind of nonsense as "suggestion" or not, there are those who blindly follow his words. And because of Donald Trump, he has introduced the world to "fake news". Obviously, there are fake news everywhere, but the fact that it's Trump who says whatever comes to mind without so much as fact-checking makes everyone doubt whether his word is true. Nobody should ever doubt the leader of a country's words to hold no ounce of truth. Now his claim of Wuhan's lab releasing the virus is pure nonsense; he is accusing China of unleashing a virus and killing people with no evidence. China isn't whooping his ass so much because nobody with common sense will take Trump seriously.
  2. As the President of the USA, Donald Trump should be conscious of what he is saying. Not just to Americans, the entire world is laughing at what this buffoon says about bleach. People could die from listening to him, it's so bad that disinfectant companies have to warn that their products are not for self-consumption. It should be common sense. I honestly hope this man does not get re-elected. His idiocy is dangerous to not just America, but the rest of the world. China is probably laughing at this elected imbecile.
  3. I'm shocked that Japan didn't take the necessary measures like their neighbouring countries. If anything, they are more experienced compared to the world outside Asia. I mean, what were they thinking??
  4. Omg this looks fun! I might do something similar next year only because I'm on a roll and I don't want to add any more lists to deter me from finishing my current one (which I add on when I feel it's getting short). ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND IT. It's one of those warm fuzzy books with a big dollop of unexpectedness in the middle. It's like a chocolate chip muffin with all its niceness then when you munch towards the middle, there's melted chocolate spilling out and you weren't expecting that. What's really on my TBR list but reluctant to pick it up is 'Doctor Sleep'. It's been gathering dust on my shelf for at least 2 years (I think it's 5 to be fair), t'was the rave back in the days when a sequel is better than the original. But it's Stephen King, which 80% of the time is a miss for me. I loved his 'Pet Sematary', that's it. Reading/TBG (in no particular order): Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine done The Perfect Mother done Watership Down nearly done Little Fires Everywhere done The Shining Doctor Sleep Faithful Place currently reading Wych Elm What Alice Forgot A House of Ghosts done The Goldfinch Alice in Brexitland done Faithful Place Far From the Madding Crowd Close Your Eyes
  5. I'm actually making good progress on my list, absolutely annoyed at the good weather we recently have but everyone is all isolated at home Reading/TBG (in no particular order): Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine done The Perfect Mother done Watership Down currently reading Little Fires Everywhere done The Shining Doctor Sleep Faithful Place Wych Elm What Alice Forgot A House of Ghosts currently reading The Goldfinch What are the popular fictions recently? If I finish the list, I might have to order books to keep my boredom at bay... Oh, and what's everyone Reading list out of curiosity?
  6. Currently reading 'Watership Down' and 'Little Fires Everywhere'.
  7. Omg this thread is still alive Amazing! Under quarantine and started my reading; hopefully by the time the isolation is over, I will have covered over 50% of this year's challenge. Fingers crossed. Reading/TBG (in no particular order): Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine done The Perfect Mother done Watership Down Little Fires Everywhere The Shining Doctor Sleep Faithful Place Wych Elm What Alice Forgot A House of Ghosts The Goldfinch Let me know if anyone has other recommendations!

  9. 'Ashes of Love', moving on to 'Eternal Love' soon
  10. I finally got my hands on Matt Haig's 'The Humans' and 'How to Stop Time' I honestly honestly can't wait to dig in !!! Anybody read them?
  11. I haven't actually read any recently that seem decent or good enough. BUT: Michael Robotham's 'Watching You', J.T Ellison's 'Lie To Me' and S.K. Tremayne's 'The Ice Twins' off the top of my head. Robotham's was really good imo, I still can't believe the author is underrated but whatev. I read the translated version all in one volume and I find that was long. I'm gonna attempt to read the original two volumes if poss. Guys, any opinions on 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine' and other recent raves? Love to hear them
  12. 'Pet Sematary' is probably the only book so far that I like from King. The others, I'm still having trouble with. Guys, after this Reading Challenge I'm not going to bother anymore. Right now I feel enslaved to finish the number of books I promised to read; I want to read because it's a fun activity, not to see it as an achievement when I do complete/exceed my challenge. 'Salem's Lot' wasn't as great as people make it out to be, I for one was definitely not amazed by it. After reading his horrors psychological thriller is making out to be the genre for me.
  13. 'Tis nice to see a familiar face 'round here 'The Shining' wasn't as bad as 'IT' tbh; it's just the latter spans one generation's past and present, and, knowing Stephen King, the book delves into so much detail that somehow the story unravels unto +1000 pages. I still have a hard time understanding how the man can be one of the greatest storyteller of our time, like, HOW. I'm not sure whether to pick mine back up actually; I'm gonna try for the sake of finishing my Reading Challenge on GR. I'm 5 books behind schedule already. I really need to pick up something short and sweet to lessen the figure.
  14. I haven't been on OH for years and it's so nice to see this thread alive barely OMG I've put IT on hold; it's taking forever and Stephen King's rambling is at its worst in this book. I've started around April time and I'm only 300+ pages like how am I gonna finish thiss If I don't agree with the narrator's feel of the plot, it will instantly turn me off the book. I'd rather read it by myself.
  15. I read her Throne of Glass series. It's good but very YA. Got annoyed with her characterisations tbh. Anybody read Shaun David Hutchinson's 'We Are the Ants'? what a beautiful book. Probably my fav LGBT book of the year
  16. Reading Adam Silvera's 'History is All You Left Me'... his writing bothers me. I wanted to take another shot at his books after reading 'They Both Die at the End' because the latter was disappointing after reading the raving reviews. This is proving to be the same... ;_; Adam Silvera may not be my cup of tea after all.
  17. I can't seem to get on with the style of writing. If I were to carry on with a book, I must click with the style of writing. It's not that I prefer fast-paced books; actually, I am currently reading 'Life After Life' and it's anything but. I love Colleen McCullough's 'The Thorn Birds' as well; a slow story spanning over three three generations which I find very profound and emotional. I tried 'Gone Girl', but I cannot for the life of me get through reading the skull/shape of Amy's skull etc etc. 'Never judge a book by its cover', which I don't, but I always judge the novel based on the first few chapters on whether it is worth my while to continue. And I hate discontinued books the most, so you can imagine how much I don't like those that are forced to be left unfinished. Do you like action thriller books or saga ones? Actually, I'd love some recommendations to experiment with genres/plots which I don't usually look for. When I said I didn't like sci-fi and non-fiction, I will still read them if someone(s) highly recommend one of either of the two genres.
  18. Sci-Fi and Non-fiction are the only two genres I have yet to read. I'm reluctant to read non-fiction because it's based on real-life, which doesn't sound as exciting as what authors' imaginations can provide. You've just proven to me that seems to be the case. I'm waiting to buddy-read that with a friend. I hope I can get through it. The DNF books off the top of my head are Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods', 'Gone Girl' and Alice Sebold's 'Lovely Bones'. Can't for the life of me understand how people manage to plough on, although I might given 'American Gods' another go because it's Neil Gaiman. And I love Neil Gaiman.
  19. I've added you I forgot my friend request Q was in place, never mind.
  20. OMG haven't been here in yonks and I c new peepz Guys, please add me on Good Reads (link in sig), I'd love to know what everyone is reading; helps to expand my horizon in genres. I'm eggy btw nice to meet everybody ! 'One by One' by Chris Carter. Erm, there's mystery etc etc but the pace is more like watching a US action thriller- something like '24' if that's up your street. I still haven't read the first one, it's gathering dust on my shelf. I heard it takes quite long to read, perhaps a bit of patience is needed for the first instalment. For that reason, I'm kind of put-off by it tbh.
  21. I read his 'Britt-Marie Was Here' and I couldn't stand his writing. Loved the story, but it didn't deliver as I had hoped.
  22. Anybody read or heard of Adam Silvera's 'They Both Die At The End'? Not sure whether my heart can take the forewarned sadness ;_;
  23. Psychological is more up my street than horror truth be told. I am suddenly regretting buying 'It' as it may prove too terrifying for me to even read. Clowns are bad enough, add Stephen King into the mix might make me sleepless for the weeks to come urgh what have I done
  24. I've marked it as TBR, but trying to get through 'It' as soon as since Halloween is coming up and am feeling the festive spirit. Please tell me how it goes, I can't wait to get my copy of it.
