  1. As I said, I don't want to comment too much on the content of the person's posts, mainly because I think their premise for being here is ridiculous. My issue is with the people who are saying things like 'delulu sones need to stop' or whatever. Because honestly, how many people would go 'AHAHAHA' if Taeyeon and Jessica were swapped out for Jonghyun and Key? Probably half, if that.

Well, to be fair, almost everyone outside of this thread would be like ~lol delulu shawols~.  This thread in particular would obviously be more inclined to believe stories about male idols (even tho they sound fanfictiony as hell).  Confirmation bias and all that.

  2. Email reply I got from that persons head teacher.

Same.  Looking at all of these pictures, and all the pain so many people feel......

I'm glad I did because someone that vile deserves punishment, and honestly psychological help.

  3. THIS. Exactly. Honestly, I feel like its for self promotion and to look socially desirable/charitable/selfless and feel like they've done something when this dumping ice isn't going to do anything but create a buzz/lip service. As well as feel a sense of belonging to the movement/feel like they "did" something.

And i think this movement is really smart yet this nomination is really annoying. Basically you HAVE to take part in one way or another if somebody nominates you. You're bound by reputation basically. Like, how about "i don't want to?".  :donthinkso:

Sorry this is totally digressing but like i'm skeptical of the ALS IBC.

Well: Ice Bucket Challenge Donations Reach $22.9 Million To ALS Association

I do actually understand where you're coming from... but I still have issues with the word 'brotp' (as an openly gay person too). Why? Because while there are people like you who use it in a nice, convenient way, it still has highly problematic connotations. For instance, let's break down the word 'brotp'. 'Bro' in the word 'brotp' stands for brothers meaning two males. So unless you're misgendering someone (or that female in question is fine using a traditionally male word in relation to herself) you can't really apply it to anything but a relationship comprised of two men. And even though some people use the word in relationship to gay men, it's still the equivalent of throwing up a 'no homo' disclaimer imo. Like, "Oh God, what if people assume they're in a romantic relationship? That's disgusting. We better invent a word so people don't think they're like them. The gays". Because really, I've never seen a gay person come up with an equivalent word because we get mistaken for being in relationships with our friends of the opposite sex. Or even females coming up with equivalent words for our friends of the same sex. There is no widespread 'straightmancing' or 'sismancing' going on here and if there ever is it's only because someone felt the need to invent the words bromance and brotp.

So while I understand that it's a convenient way to convey that you only ship something platonically, I personally cannot ignore that it's often used in a way that dismisses actual homosexual relationships and purposely distances people from the idea of 'gayness'.

“You can be affectionate with each other, you can love each other and it doesn’t have to be some – you know, and even if it does turn into something, which it didn't, then it’s okay… We always sort of flinch at this “bromance†buzzword that’s come up – there’s no equivalent for women, because it’s not weird if women are friends… because of this homosexual terror that straight guys have, it’s ridiculous. Now there has to be this word for it, and it’s crazy. It’s totally sad.â€

Well tbh this is a whole other issue that does have underlying ties with gay/bi women, but this isn't the lesbian thread so I won't go into that.

  5. I find it so offensive that if CL is straight that she'd address her female lesbian/bicurious/CLcurious fans like that.
I like that she is ok with us and knows we exists but I don't like her using this as an ego boost just because girls like her doesn't make her all that.
If she is straight it's very offensive because she doesn't understand the hardships that lesbians/bi/pansexual woman and men go through.
Once again straight ppl using us but not understanding us as if we're a toy you can play with then throw away any minute.

Exactly, it would reflect really badly on her. But I don't believe she's an egomaniac attention seeker to begin with, if anything she's one of the most level headed and self-confident people I've seen in kpop. Pretty sure she'd have better things to do than queerbait girls if she was straight.

I agree it would be fucked up and incredibly eye roll inducing.  Unfortunately many straight people are just that ignorant and obnoxious when it comes to this sort of thing.
