The outside forums are infested with negativity regarding Twice as it is, so why would we want this thread to turn into one too? Which *shockingly* it already is beginning to because we're now rambling about what should and shouldn't be posted in the thread. 

 

I'm saying this as a member of the thread since debut, I'm not trying to put anyone down because they may be newer, I'm just putting my opinions forward because I've seen it first hand for nearly 2 years now. It's not a fun place to be in, this thread has always been a home for Onces to get their minds off the negatives and focus on the positives.

yeah let's just celebrate their achievements and let the haters discuss their performance that twice did for us the fans. clearly haters have more right to discuss their performances than us the fans.

this isn't about starting drama. This is obviously an issue for some people here. Where are Onces supposed to go when they feel discouraged when even our MT is filled with negativity. you can mask your opinions with spoilers all you want but that's not gonna stop people from reading it and possibly feeling bad. Why can't people think before posting. We can chose to ignore it but why can't people just chose not to post their negative opinions about Twice in our own MT. The place that Onces should expect to have support for their love of Twice.

what's even worse than feeling discouraged about all these negative opinions is when those negative opinions come from within the fandom. it's honestly heartbreaking thinking that the people that Twice rely on to support them and their work would voice such negativity. Twice always say that they'll work harder to live up to the awards that they've won. they don't need people (especially their own fans) writing about their imperfections when they themselves know it more than we do. 

i always thought that this thread was a safe space for Once. Free from all the criticisms that we read about all over the place. It's honestly so sad thinking that even some of Twice's own fans have a hard time accepting them. 

 

I think if you compare Signal Knock knock to TT and Cheer Up, no achievement (CU is Korea's national song and TT is the trending Japan pose)  would actually equal to that. Just like you can't expect every single Psy's song to blown out like Gangnam Style. Even Signal's achievement would be regarded as unatainable aw for normal groups. 

 

 Totally. There are so many girl groups out there that would love to have a song that did as well as Signal. Heck, there are so many idols and female trainees that would've loved to have made their debut in JYP and have a song produced by J.Y Park. I totally understand that some fan don't find Signal to be their cup of tea but I'm so grateful that TWICE are getting these opportunities and even when they do experiment with their formulas they still get plenty of love by the public that it doesn't discourage them from trying out new things.

It's totally fair for us as fans to want the best for our girls and to want the best quality of music production but we should also remember to be thankful that TWICE is in the position they are right now because they are doing amazing and they never forget to thank their fans for supporting them. 

I'm sure that Twice will receive another song from JYP. I noticed that JYP spend a lot of time taking care of Twice, he even went to Japan with them. Maybe he's trying to know more about them personnaly. If twice receives another song from JYP, I personnaly think that it will be a hit since Signal wasn't really well loved by the public, there'll be a constrast effect that will elevate the new song.

Signal was loved by the public and it's still considered a hit song. it currently has the most music show wins(12) this year. It wasn't as popular as TT or Cheer Up but those songs were national hits. we can't expect each song to have that level of popularity where everyone is doing the dance and signing the chorus. I appreciate Signal because it broke out the formula and patterns that previous songs had and it had a much better line distribution.

I feel like there's a lot of people here that are ok with JYP to produce their next song as long as it's better than Signal. I actually hope that if JYP produces the next song i hope it's as good as Signal. I hope that if they release a full album this time. I'll buy every version of that full album and go broke!

I believe her saying that they haven't prepared anything yet because Signal promos ended not long ago...but TT (japanese version)

i heard a drama pd wants to cast her in a drama and that she almost made a cameo in her sister's! i really can't wait to see her acting >< i think she goona be a good actress along with nayeon and maybe jihyo.

i read that too! she wanted to make a cameo for her sister's drama but the schedule didn't work out. TWICE obviously has a lot of potential actors but the way their career's are going and knowing how JYPE learns from their 'mistakes' I doubt any of their other activities would ever take priority over their role as a TWICE member. What I mean with JYPE is that miss A's Suzy went into acting while miss A was getting more popular. Also Suzy's image as the face of the group kind of isolated her from the rest of her members. I'm not worried about that with TWICE because they genuinely all love each other too much to put their own personal goals in front of the group's (even though they would get the full support). and JYPE are very careful with what they do with TWICE so they're not being as bold as they were with their brother and sister groups.

All idols eventually follow different paths later on in their career. It's pretty soon for TWICE to be thinking about their individual brand over their brand as TWICE. but when they do start thinking about it they're probably still going to stay together as TWICE. Look at 2PM for example. They're all flourishing in their business as individual stars but they're all still close friends with each other and they all value their fans til this day. They still have huge concerts too despite them being a 10 year old group. I think TWICE is going to have a similar future. We Onces still have to keep constantly showing Twice love because they're still a very young group with even more potential milestones to accomplish!

Do any of you know if the sales from their Japanese album would count towards the sales points for award shows like MAMA (artist of the year, girl group of the year) or Golden Disk?

Even though TWICE's 'First 24 Hour' Youtube record might get broken today I would like to encourage you guys to keep your heads up and stay proud and gracious as a fandom. TWICE still has the first and currently only MV to have 200+ million views on youtube plus a lot more achievements. Let's keep making TWICE proud and anticipate their success in Japan.

The Japanese versions of TT and signal sound so a bit bette to my ears than the originals. I also really like the mv that they did for TT, I much prefer the styling there as well.

TWICE proves that they don't need a huge budget MV to look beautiful. They can pull off simple and beautiful aesthetics that highlight their individual charms. I also love pink haired Nayeon in the j version of TT. I'm going to miss her pink hair.

I just finished watching the latest TTV episode. I'm so thankful that we can get a near seamless flow of content throughout the year. There's almost never a time where we think Twice has disappeared. Even when they're resting and just decide to take a stroll in the park they would do a V-Live to talk to the fans. Not all groups have that luxury. JYPE and TWICE truly understand the importance of fan service for growing groups.

 

i disagree, people should be able to voice their opinions here. how is it better for the fandom if you're ostracizing people by making them feel uncomfortable for saying their opinions. we should be accepting of all opinions.

outside of the mt some onces are defending twice against antis saying how they're just bashing and how they'd be more accepting if it was actually constructive criticism but here we are in the MT not even being able to comfortably share our criticisms?

should people leave and not post here if they have any criticisms or "negative" things to say once in awhile out of the hundreds of positive things they've said previously?

 

 

Every time Twice releases something there are posts in here about "Constructive criticism". Let me tell you something about constructive criticism, it's only constructive if the person or persons you want to suggest these changes to read it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe that there are any idols or Kpop companies up in here reading your posts. Since it's not "Constructive" to anyone, take away the "Constructive" part and it becomes criticism and users here should just call it that, plain and simple. But, of course, you're free and entitled to voice your own opinions. Just be more thoughtful about the people here with different opinions than yours and tunnelvision on the positive aspects that you like about whatever it may be. You people made my old ass come out of lurking just to post this. If this was Korea, I would've smacked you in the back of the head already!

So cute! talented stans for our talented queens Twice! Greedy is probably my second favorite unit stage. first being Black Cat Nero (Dahyun & Tzuyu).

Signal currently has an all-kill and people are jamming out to this song. I remember when Knock Knock came out and people we're worried about it's success too. I'm so infuriated by people trying to make this comeback look like a flop when it's already coming out as one of the most dominant songs this year. Not just because of TWICE's popularity too. JY Park is getting flamed but he honestly pushed the envelop for TWICE with Signal and it's bound to be one of the most successful songs this year.
I'm probably going to take a break from OH and keep my Twitter feed news/chart info only.

personally i'm not too hung up on the fact whether whoever is actually producing the title track will deliver (88% positive it will be a hit regardless), i'm just excited i finally get to see a Twice comeback unfold in real-time lmao i was always late to the party.

 

tho with regards to a JYP title track if yall are worried don't be. there are plenty of producers who were on top of their game in the past, had less than stellar songs for a period of time, and then came back really strong with some absolute bops. Take Timbaland for example, who admittedly released some forgettable tracks after his golden era but for the past few years has been pretty consistent with the chart toppers (the tracks he produced for Beyonce's self-titled were FIRE) I mean this is TWICE. I'm sure people actually in the industry and with 10 times the experience as us have already addressed a lot of the same concerns we have many times over; they're not about to risk the Twice brand with a lackluster release.

We should also take into consideration that JYP was also involved with the production of Black Eyed Pilseung's title tracks. He obviously didn't have a huge hand in composing the songs lyrically or musically but he listen to all of his artists songs before they're released and gives input when needed. This is his first title track with the group but he's been with Twice long before they've made their debut. Twice is in great hands

There are some things I'm excited for in terms of J.Y Park's production.

1. He's obviously known Twice longer than any other producer. He has a history with them and understands the vocal personalities of each Twice member.

2. Kairos produced Next Page from Twicecoaster. It's one of my favorite side tracks on that album. I know a lot of you are thinking of Suzy's Yes No Maybe as a flop but even though it didn't chart that well I still think it's a great song. Kairos already has experience with Twice. Experience is usually a good thing.

3. We can compare their previous work with other groups all we want but this is a brand new ball game. JYP and Kairos are producing for Twice. They're like the Swiss army knife of girl groups. All of their voices have a unique color that producers love to play around with. No offence to GOT7, Suzy and I.O.I but musically, it's like the producers got a massive upgrade in terms of flexibility and style.

3.5. To further elaborate my point. J.Y. Park is definitely a pop-music genius. He doesn't have a perfect record but he's definitely the type to learn from his shortcomings. When he produced GOT7's early stuff (Girls Girls Girls, A) a lot of people felt like his music was dated. fast forward to 2017, he produced another GOT7 song, Never Ever which is a huge improvement compared to the other Got7 songs. Sure it didn't chart well, but it's GOT7...enough said. He also produced I.O.I's Very Very Very. The general consensus is that it's a good song. The highlight of the song though is Nayoung and Mina's rap. It was both cute but powerful at the same time and it had a great flow with the song. There's another girl group song that he produced that isn't talked about much, Unnies' Shut Up. J.Y Park had a lot of fun  producing that song because he loved bringing out the voice of the Unnies into the song. They all had unique personalities and he used that to create a succesful song. it actually charted well (#3 on Gaon) for a song that stemmed from a variety show and it only had two singers (Jessi, Tiffany) the rest we're actors and tv personalities. Kinda tough to work with but he managed and had a great time doing so. 
So let's take all of that to account with Twice. Twice has something Got7 didn't have at the start and that's musical recognition chart wise. They're also coming in with an incredible amount of momentum. This makes it easier for JYP. All eyes ears are already on him so he doesn't need to reach far to gather attention. I.O.I had some great rappers that also have a cuteness to them. JYP does an amazing job making female rappers stand out (Wonder Girls' Yubin is probably the best example). Now he's working with the Pretty Rapstar Chaeyoung and the Energetic Tofu Dahyun. Expect our rappers to slay. Finally, JYP has an amazing history of doing well with bringing out the personality in a song. From g.o.d's To My Mother to the Unnies' Shut Up. He enjoys working with personality. Which 9 girls do we know that have amazing unique personalities that would bring sunshine and happiness to us in the form of a song. Twice obviously. 
J.Y Park has all the tools he can ever want in a hit song with Twice as his muse.
Let's not forget that Twice has a tendency to be very producer friendly. Black Eyed Pilseung's most successful songs was with Twice. collapsedone's didn't have many hit songs, mostly because he did sidetracks. Knock Knock is without a doubt his most successful song. J.Y Park definitely has a better track record than collapsedone and even Black Eyed Pilseung. he produced three songs that got a Song of the Year awards (Nobody, Tell Me, Again & Again). So if you look at the trend,,, this might be J.Y. Park's biggest song yet, and he already produced 3 SOTY.

I understand that you all have your worries, but fear not! If what I wrote isn't enough to make you trust JYP, you should at least know to trust Twice. We might be about to witness 2017's song of the year and it's not going to be produced by PSY, Teddy, BEP or Brave Sound. It's going to produced by The Asian Soul J.Y Park. IU might be hitting melon's roof right now. Twice is going to do a lot more than hitting...they're going to break it!

I don't understand why everyone is worrying that jyp is producing the track, I'm still so fucking hyped for this title track, for this whole comeback, I don't see a problem with who is producing the track tbh, maybe it's because I'm still new to kpop? 

nah, it's a lot of the new people that are worried. JYP has an amazing track record. He produced many SOTY from Wonder Girls to Miss A. His last few songs were great too! Get hyped!
