  1. I'm late to the party, but I'm so happy for Jin this comeback. Apart from him always trending due to his visuals like the king he is, he also got so many lines and center position. And also!! Airplane pt 2!!! THOSE HIGH NOTES AND NAMJIN MOMENT WITH BOTH OF THEM LOOKING FINE AF rlytearpls.pngrlytearpls.png I replayed that part so much omg

  2. maybe it's cause Taehyung's voice is so distinct but I found his general absence on the album (aside from the intro) super noticeable and kind of disappointing. I like the contrast his tone provides against the three higher voices.

that and too much autotune/distortion are my only gripes with the album, I think it absolutely slaaayyyys overall. Fake Love is one of my favourite title tracks yet.

I did miss his low voice, but we have a whole Singularity so I am not too sad smile.png

If we didn't get Singularity I'd probably throw a fit though laugh.png

  3. I haven't posted here in a while since I'm busy with school, but I'm still keeping up with BTS and I can't wait for their comeback!! la.gifla.gif OMG I wonder what genre of song they will be going for, and what new theories to add to the whole HYYH puzzle we will see. My excitement is ramping up QRLGYBO.png  Also it's gonna be so fun for new fans who joined during DNA / BBMAs to experience their first comeback ahmagahplz.png

  4.

    whooo

    Trans: "Recording!"

Okay, but what if Jin is recording for J-hope's mixtape? Can't wait for Trouble 2.0 ahmagahplz.png

Awww, Roy Kim reaction was cute, he seems so excited and yay about Jin's recording.

Cherries....on...pizza...you're breaking my heart, today is my birthday i don't deserve this rlytearpls.png

Happy birthday sweetie! chuplz.png I hope you get to eat souffles cuz your name always reminds me of souffles and I'm so hungry rn rlytearpls.png

Speaking of Roy Kim, I knew him from YHY's Sketchbook when I was watching it for E*0. He's hilarious, he reminds me of Jin now with the way he was talking about how to seduce the audience harharplz.png

It's around 27:30 he starts talking, his song segment starts around 25:00. If you wanna kill some time to watch it, he's quite funny.

  5. I feel like people forget one thing: If BTS is not re-creatable, that means Big Hit may also never have a group enjoy the same level of success as BTS.

Tbh even though I say this, I'm not really worried about this fact. Because Big Hit appears to be very serious about gathering people whose first priority is music. The idol strappings are just a platform to gain the audience to listen to the person's music. Like Suga once said, to paraphrase, he and Joon becoming idols was just so their music and what they wanted to say could reach a wider audience than the underground scene was offering.

In this sense, if Big Hit finds people who have something they want to say, BTS has at least made it so the new group will have an audience willing to give them a chance. If they happen to have even a quarter of the synergy BTS has a group, their success may just be a matter of time.

So BTS may not be re-creatable but Big Hit may likely have a better shot at creating something similar.

BTS are not re-creatable in that they are so iconic as the group themselves, there will never be anyone like them. To be honest, if you look down at every other kpop group, there is something unique about them too, but often it is so buried or hidden that they never show their true potential and their own unique X-factor. There are many artists who have shown their true colours after moving to a new agency and given creative license to showcase their talents, think Jay Park, Tablo.

Bighit's next group will not be the next BTS, they will be the next themselves. I do not have any worries about their next group being the next BTS, I do not want another carbon copy of BTS anyways. The next group will have their own unique colour, with BigHit's marketing strat of taking full advantage of social media like BTS did.

When we use the thing about companies not being able to copy BTS, in a way it's because they copy only the surface level. Things like active use of social media, trilogies, talking about their experiences and hardships.

Do they have the trust in their group's personality and chemistry to be as free on vlive? Do they actually have a well-written plot and theme for their trilogy or is it a random trilogy about some story line people cannot relate to? When they talk about their experiences, are they skilled enough to fully paint the picture they have envisioned, and is their experience something people can relate to?

Often they fail to go to the deeper level. Which is why that tweet said they cannot recreate BTS despite using similar strategies, it is only on surface level.

  6. Hey guys, I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. I was just looking at the chart for Social 50 and realized we have easy access to some of the metrics used. Pics under spoiler

D7XdAZHc.jpgI went to Next Big Sound and made a simple account, from there I see they listed down all the metrics easily under BTS' profile.

    iBOtxExX.jpg

They look at the official MVs and the YouTube views on there to determine song plays and also track the followers on BTS' official account.. Mentions too are counted, and social media growth is also a factor.

QPoUBSTl.jpgThey track also the recent releases of videos, as a way to get an idea on the current situation.

    -p6Shfl9.jpg:large

Although they did say Vevo videos, since BTS doesn't have a Vevo, they take a bunch of videos from different sources. For example, 2016 MAMA performance.

    4QbFv-Qs.jpg

They also look at chart appearances, something which not every artist has. za5g21G.png

You can go on NextBigSound and see for yourself the facts and figures too and compare it to some other artists like maybe Justin Bieber too. While I'm not sure what to draw from this, I do come to one small conclusion.

While others like to dismiss social media, or on the flip side, say all of BTS' fans came from their overuse of social media, there's no doubt that it's a very powerful tool of the 21st century. It's a tool that almost everyone who has wifi has access too, and a way of how fans can even learn about BTS and also, contribute to winning an award for BTS.

They mocked our Billboard Top Social Artist award, but it's an award we all contributed to and BTS' first award in America.

Social media is a very useful item that I believe some companies did not utilize as well. In a way, they did not move with the times. They stayed stagnant and were slow on the uptake, while BTS were the first to successfully and strongly utilize it to it's highest potential.

  7. I never got prism cards with emerald card pack too hahah

But I'm really unlucky, I don't know for other people rlytearpls.png

I tried it today, and yes I've only ever gotten signed cards from it. All my prism cards are from those free premium packs. But I still believe in that 1% chance. I jst have to open 10 packs rlytearpls.png

  8. Tbh for me it doesn't help much, I always get only B cards and 1 ou 2 A's (when the game is being nice with me) hahaha

lol I don't mind B cards, the grade is not important for me, but the prism is. The prism cards have higher stats than normal or signed cards at same level. I just want prism cards so I can slowly max them to R, I don't mind sticking wirh B cards for now since I don't compete much in the league.

  9. Guys... I found the drop rates for cards... It was listed in the Help section.

I don't know how to directly upload images from phone using OH app, so I post it on my twitter. But basically drop rates for prism are absymal: 1% from emerald card pack, 3% from premium card pack.

I was using my emeralds all this time to get the 200 emerald normal card packs for leveling up my cards, but now I might change to buying the 1,500 emerald card pack.

  10. Same here

I basically marathoned a ton of their live comeback stages and they've improved so much since No More Dream era... If you watch their first stage you can see how much they struggle to find the right camera to look at haha

harharplz.png I went back to see their old performances, and you're right. They are basically always staring at the center camera. They don't even look at any other cameras, it's always center camera. harharplz.pngharharplz.png  Only Hobi and Jin caught the moving camera's gaze, and even then their eyes were like shaking omg. RM's sunglasses must have been useful. Their stage presence really steadily improved. Even at debut they had the singing and dance almost down pat, then when they added all the expressions and camera gazes, its a full course meal raepfaceplz.png

I made a Who's Your BTS Boyfriend Quiz!  It took so long to make, but my ARMY heart is pleased with the result! ^^  See if you can spot all the inside jokes. haha  Also, let me know who you get!  I got V. <3

I posted about this in the Random thread, but thought I'd share it here too.  I hope you like it!

I got Jin. My life is complete ahmagahplz.png

This quiz brings back good memories for me, when I was just getting into BTS, I only knew who was V and RM. I took a similar quiz expecting to get V, but instead I got Jin. I was like "huh who's Jin?" and started to focus on him more to learn about him. Now he's my ult bias laugh.png

  12. Well, it's his need of the hour too. Being in a variety will give GP more exposure to his abilities beyond his status as a 'standard-beauty-visual'.

I think it might only fully bloom when BTS are no longer as active and they branch into other areas. But in the meantime I hope BH keeps managing to slot him into other variety shows, I'm happy with him going onto Please Take Care of my Fridge and Hello Counselor and all these other varieties. I hope he has a shitton of good acting as the perfect bf in BTS world, and some Jin stan shows the clips to her director dad and he gets casted for an acting role. Just like how Taehyung got his Hansung role deepstareplz.png

  13. Definitely an interesting read.

Personally I don't think that was the intention. Still, I upvoted you because how insightful you are thinking about this.

The boys image just don't fit with backup dancer at all. I get what you are trying to say, but I feel that Jin's main role is to be a stan attractor, and perhaps branch out to promote his group through acting and other endeavors should the group struggle. However - other members are fully capable of standing on their own (RM & Suga underground rapper background, Jimin and Hobi dance, JK all rounder, Tae probably doing similar things as Jin). Jin is also doing his job perfectly, car door guy and third from the left just a few examples. Jin is also super happy about their current situation, and he said that he did not want to go back to their rookie days - so I don't think he's resentful about the position they are in.

What I am concerned about right now - is how Jin is feeling about this new role he is in. Since the boys are doing so well, acting seems not an option, but he worked hard to get into an acting school (as you have pointed out).

The thing is, he does not complain about it as much on the screen (The ones we know are the one time he was upset with Jimin because Jimin was not doing a good job acting and he wanted to act in a Gayo episode, and Suga revealing him unhappy about that banana/flower role w/e they gave him). That makes it hard for fans (like me) to know if he actually wants to act or is more interested in singing. The fact that he says his happy when we are happy does not help this - it makes me frustrated lol.

What I am hoping for, is with this series, there seems to be a story line going on, and he's been used as a narrator. Hopefully he'll get more chances in acting in this sense. Also with that game release there may be scenes that requires acting. And someone picks this up and approach BH with a good material and proposition for him.

I am just sad that we may never get Jin to act in a school bad boy role besides the Boys in Love mv. I loved his character so much there rlytearpls.png

Well the whole scenario will only really apply if BTS is failing. Kind of like when GLAM was failing they couldn't do much to stop it, I think Bang PD would be smart enough to put a back-up option in the group.  Something to do that he could capitalize on if like people didn't realize how good BTS' lyrics and other things were. Of course, that did not happen.

If we go with my conspiracy theory, it's:

    -> BTS debuts

-> they all have unique personalities, churn out lots of music and behind the scenes videos, talk about youth, everyone is equally promoted or whatever

    What happened: (good scenario)

-> succeed and BTS are on an upward climb (around BiL era)

-> go into INU era where they can start really on the hyyh era without being feared that they will go bust

-> Jin doesn't need to be so quiet and act like always a visual

-> He becomes the big lovely dork we all know today

    Alternate scenario:

-> SKorea and International fandom don't see how good BTS is

-> Still have their small fandom from debut to BiL era

-> Proceed as planned for top scenario until they go into debt or hit it big

    Bad scenario:

-> Skorea and Int fandom don't see how good BTS is

    -> Don't have a small core fandom

-> BTS in debt etc, Bang PD would push them for maybe 1 or 2 years and hope they make bank

-> Then if they're still in debt after ALL of that

    -> Push Jin as visual

The reason why I will never know if this is solved and what would have happened, is because BTS never went downhill and in debt, so it will always be my conspiracy theory laugh.png It is really like the bad end, how to restart from that. It feels like BTS would have definitely hit it big since one of the main points nowadays is that they are very sincere people and not as "boxed in" as some other kpop groups, but I think also, you need to know and hear about them to know their charming personalities.

I feel like Bang PD was worried if they were from a small company, they wouldn't even give them a chance -> fall into nugudom -> pull out the unstoppable card that everyone can't deny -> Jin's visuals.

Since you know if we talk about lyrics, music, it's all very subjective. It's ironic but in SKorea, the most 'objective' is good visuals despite visuals being subjective.

That being said, since that bad scenario did not happen, I agree with all you said, he is happy and content where he is, and all the boys can be themselves now and branch out in areas they can are good in. smile.png  This is really like the good route, the good end if you get what I mean.

Speaking of what you were saying about not being sure if Jin is happy or not about his roles, I think he is happy but also wants to act. Jin is very patient imo, it feels like he knows what he wants to do. When he gets a good acting role he will do well in it, the only thing is I am worried when he will get it.

I agree, I really want to see Jin as a bad boy rlytearpls.png  He looked so good in BiL. I want him to be in acting roles so he can charm the whole nation to his hearts content. It frustrates me too that we only find out all these stuff from like Suga and Jimin. I'm very glad he has Bangtan who are so supportive of him and always helping him. He is definitely interested in singing and music etc, like him learning guitar and all.

Wow. Such a deep perspective, you have. It seems plausible at some points, like, I understand how a visual is used in Kpop industry. I wouldn't be surprised if Bang PD had a backup 'card' for Jin.

Jin does throw shade sometimes but he never seems super serious. It becomes frustrating for most of his fans since all we can know about his will, is from bits and pieces of hints on different occasions.

Thanks laugh.png  It's really a conspiracy theory though lmao I have no way of ever knowing if it's true. But it was fun thinking about it still.

Yes, I mean it seems clear that he wants to act badly and do so many things, but like I didn't know he was so sad about his roles he was given until like Suga or Jimin pointed it out. I did get irritated at the roles he got in House of ARMY, but I'm still sad rlytearpls.png His goals also seem to change, he said he wants to do more variety now. Maybe he thinks if he talks about wanting to act openly it could cause more drama, so he just says he wants to do other things for now. I hope he gets the acting roles he deserves soon.

  14. This is Jins thread doll, go ahead, if not here, where else will we go to talk about him / issues related to him.

Well, I don't know if it's the right time to talk about with all the tension, but it's also something on my chest for a long time so...

My conspiracy theory is, BigHit's intended role for Jin was to be the moneymaker of the group if BTS was not doing well. Equivalent to S*zy of M!ss A, S3olhyun of A0A, Ch4 3unwoo of 4stro. (Before you neg me, please read my whole post and the 'evidence' that led me to this point so you can at least understand my view >_<)

If BTS didn't make bank with their risky comebacks, talking about youth and all, BigHit would try to push them with Jin at the forefront to get a bit of attention, and then push other members again. If they still failed to gain attention, after that, they'd just really become a Jin-centered group with Jin and his back dancers.

However, as we all know, that did not happen. When BTS started gaining attention, even with NMD and their hip hop concepts at debut, with BiL almost winning, with INU actually winning, and then BTS starting their quick upward trajectory, it was obvious that what they have saved Jin for (eg. their backup, final resort, moneymaker), would not be needed.

By saving, I do not mean like anything bad, but rather they were priming his image to be that all-around good personality visual like SN*D Y00na, M!ss A's S*zy. You know the image, always smiling, never problematic (except dating "scandals" maybe), always nice and hardworking? Yeah that's pretty much the image they wanted on Jin.

Other members were on other things, Jungkook has to stay the young boy maknae, V as a 4D alien, RM as a sexy brain man, Suga as a cold rapper, J-hope the sunshine, Jimin with his abs and body being pushed.

And Jin's personality too, it fits the visual moneymaker commonly found in those other visuals.

If I had to think about how they might advertise Jin:

"He's hardworking -> always improving his dance and singing! Not the best but he tries his best! Went to Konkuk university!

A whole visual! -> We all know about how BigHit made Jimin have abs and how Jin also had to starve and survive on 2 chicken breasts a day! Has broad shoulders! High nosebridge! (aka typical korean visuals)

Also he's charming and will be a great boyfriend! -> His EatJin's, his mukbangs are like fanservice, he's a great cook for you!

Good personality! -> Look he cracks jokes, he's a caretaker and eomma of BTS!"

If BigHit actually wanted to push him and center on him, he'd def be a good fit for a moneymaking visual. There's a reason why they scouted him just by his looks on the street.

But you see, that's in an alternate world, the last ditch attempt. What actually happened was BTS rose to popularity and gained fame by their other merits so there was no need for to hyper pump push Jin as their last resort.

When that happened, Jin realized a lot of things. Around Fire era, was when he started to come out of his shell. Because around that era, he realized he didn't need to have to be that perfect moneymaker visual. Instead of him always having to fit his actions, he could just very openly be awkard and act silly and make his own identity as a funny person, the visual who's gorgeous and also witty and sassy and funny. He doesn't need to be the perfect visual because BigHit doesn't need to keep him as a last resort money maker in case BTS fails, they have succeeded.

There is a video where Jin talks about how he does the handkiss more often, since when he did it in the Fire era, he enjoyed doing it. Then also in WINGs era, Blood Sweat Tears, they always talk about how Jin is becoming weirder and weirder. When I first got into BTS, it was around this era, so I actively looked and watched all their backstage content at that time. In bits and snippets, they'd point out how "this hyung is weird lately" and look a bit surprised when Jin acted silly. Nowadays in all their gayos and runs, when he acts silly, they also smile because they know, that's just Jin and who he is.

When I was looking through videos in previous eras, while I do appreciate all their old vids, in some of the older vids, you can see Jin is lowkey sassy but he is not exactly his over the top funny like the maknae line or maybe Hobi or even RM was in that era, and also definitely not as "unleashed" as he is recently and in recent eras. As a result, it feels like people tend to pass him over, the things he said were mildly funny but not exactly special or shocking. He just looks like a cute awkard elder hyung who has an obsession with food. While that's Jin too, it's not ALL of Jin.

So now, bring it back to the current era, this has resulted in a bunch of things for BTS and Jin.

First, BigHit are a bit surprised, and honestly do not know what to do with Jin at first. When they hit it big, there was no more need for him to be the visual moneymaker, and Jin himself realized it too, so he quickly carved out a new image for himself. AKA being his true self, funny, sassy witty, great at variety and caring.

Second, Jin not being able to pursue an acting career for now is because BTS simply makes more bank together as a group than Jin getting a big acting role, or a rookie role. Even split up the fees amongst 7 members, they make too much money for Jin to give up too much time to focus heavily on acting. They still do send him and Jimin for some variety, but BTS as a whole doesn't focus that much on variety. As a whole, Jin who has experience in this area, will probably only utilize his great mc-ing ability and variety ability later on, maybe when BTS is not making music as frequent together and they are older. He can continue his acting and variety and mc ability later on now.

Once again, I point out, it's a smart back up move, going into acting or mc-ing is common for some older gen group members to move to. It's also a way of keeping your group relevant.

BigHit really lucked out with picking Jin: he's hardworking, a gorgeous visual, great at MC-ing and variety, always thinks and looks out for his members, great at singing and dancing too.

When you take into account how many years he has had in singing and dancing training, you will realize he's really good. All the other members have spent years of their life practicing other things, Jimin and J-hope dance since young, Suga and RM wrote lyrics and produced their own rap and in turn beats, even V had training for the saxaphone and also music, Jungkook has been trained to be an idol almost his entire life. Compared to Jin, who has trained in acting and film instead, all of them have had an edge up.

This also veers into fanfic territory, but it's also one reason why all the more the song Awake, which was self-composed and written by Jin means so much to him. It was rejected 26 times but he still kept on with it. It's one of the bigger "landmarks" of his musical achievements. It talks about how he keeps walking despite knowing he can't "touch the sky" and he holds 6 flower petals in his hand.

When he performed Awake in Japan and the audience silently listened, and then stood up and gave him a standing ovation, he cried, and I think it meant a lot to him, in a way, I would say it could have represented him being validated and celebrated for his musical achievements, a feat he has tried hard to work to achieve, and in a way overcoming his hurdle and past of being relegated to really only the visual member.

It's honestly also the reason why it seems small to hype up Jin's achievements, as compared to the rest who are winning awards right now, but when you really consider Jin's potential, what could have been, you see so many missed things that he has turned into beautiful opportunities for him to bloom. The rest have had an edge up in this industry of music, and Jin is starting late, and he has walked slowly a long way to reach at this point. If you do not take into account all these things, and just compare Jin to the rest of BTS, like a bystander would, you'd say he's not exactly the best. Now people can say he's the best in variety, the true visual, a unique personality and someone who has also come a long way and who has a passion towards music and always improving.

Hence ends my conspiracy theory laugh.png  If you read all this, and your eyes haven't fallen off, there's also this tumblr post which explains his previous mistreatment, which also helped me in thinking about my theory. Mostly watching backstage BTS vids and being a fan for years also helped.

I would like for people to tell me what they think about this theory, because if I'm woefully wrong I would feel like a fool 0u0plz.png I think it fits in pretty well with how the kpop industry works, and Bang PD and BigHit being a smart businessman and business.

To add on to this, it may not be the biggest or only reason, but I think it's one of the many reasons BTS respects and looks up to Jin so much. Especially RM, who looks at Jin like he hung the stars. Apart from him not pushing his hyung status and many multiple glorious reasons, I think they know what he was relegated to, always supporting them, starting late, what he had to give up to be in BTS and walk alongside them.

  15. I lowkey love eg ngl. He was much younger then and you can see the how his flow and music has changed and adapted throughout his career. He has become not only a better rapper but an amazing producer and lyricist. It's just funny to me that someone that amazing also had humble beginnings. I didn't do this to mock him, I was just kidding. But tbh it would be funny if he did post that on april fools or something

Reminds me of Suga in So Far Away, "dream, though your beginnings may be humble, may your future be prosperous" rlytearpls.png

A beautiful reminder of how everyone starts small and grows to become fantastic

so this is kinda OT but i was watching anesthesia videos and came across this one and bts is pretty prevalent throughout the video and it was so funny it had me dying the entire time

my favorite part is when she looks at her bts phone case and thinks they're her friends lmaooo

harharplz.png  She knows to sing the "nowwwwwww" part in Serendipity, and "dollar" part in Go Go but she forgets other stuff. She was so dramatic and like "IM DYING" "WHO ARE YOU" harharplz.png harharplz.png

I'm happy I didn't go under anesthetic for my wisdom teeth, I'd probably be as bad or as worse than her.

the "are these my friends" part is so cute omg her having Just One Day as her fav song is so cute though, it's slightly rare to find ppl who have that song as their fave

  16. My 2 cents on the OT7 matter and fandom names, I understand that akgaes aren't good, but we do have some solo Jin stans here who are not akgaes. Every individual thread for all of BTS has solo stans that are not akgaes. For any casual Jin fan who might want to know more about him, and then later BTS, it might be cute to have a Jin fan name.

I personally like my second bias's fandom name, her name is Hyejeong, nickname Dong Dong, so the fandom name for her is called Dongers harharplz.png

Jin already downplays himself a lot (like in BV2 the members have to hype him up to get him to say what his goal is). I hope his fans will always stick up to him.

Speaking of Jin being underrated, I'm glad he is getting more recognition for all his abilities. You are right that he downplays himself, like did you guys hear about the latest thing they have found out? About Jin and the high standards he had to pass to get into Konkuk University? He was in the top 10 students to get into his course at Konkuk (out of 2000)

Now I understand the outrage Jin stans had when he missed his graduation. I have never been to a graduation which I cared about, so I didn't know it was a big thing. Now after seeing and realizing how hard it is, how prestigious it is to graduate from Konkuk, I really understand why he was upset about missing it. It is a big landmark in his life.

I also have a conspiracy theory on WHY Jin is underrated... and how maybe it might have been intentional by BigHit. But I don't know if I should say it here.
