  1. Just to voice the opposing view, I love the word queer and it's really common where I live (large city in the Southeastern United States). I'm also 30 if that makes a difference. It used to be a slur, but it's been in common use as a reclaimed term in the American LGBT community for at 10 years or so. Actually, a lot of people I know prefer "queer" to the alphabet soup of LGBTQIA*, in addition to the fact that it's a more inclusive term especially of people with less black and white identities. Just my 2 cents.
  2. So I just caught up on the YKBK Vlive that happened overnight. Basically: Moonsun hangs out together and talks about how much time they spend together. The past few days have just been Moonsun flaunting how attached at the hip they are. Some highlights: VIPs steakhouse date Casual meal "date" Arcade date They voted together Solar was at Moonbyul's Deep Blue Eyes taping Solar mentioned Byul 10+ times on her solo Vlive Moonbyul confirmed that she watched Solar's solo Vlive Cuddling in the waiting room MMMTV I'm also laughing at the thought that there are people who think this era hasn't had much Moonsun (I've seen such comments too). They're getting better at hiding it but we know that they're always together even if they don't share it...or sometimes they talk about doing something but leave out that they did it with the other. IMO, Moonsun has been hella domestic and soft. I feel like they might be hanging out more than they have in the past. Even if you don't think they're actually a couple they definitely spend a lot of time together for women in their late 20s. Just saying, that super close BFF relationship where you spend all your time together is just not that common once you're out of your teens... I personally don't believe the Polaroid/makeup bag story very much. I'm ~75% sure they agreed on a story before the Vlive. That Polaroid is not dark or blurry at all, girls, who you trying to fool??
  3. Omg I missed the tea because I just woke up and the tweet is deleted now. What happened??? Anyone wanna message me if they don't want to post it...?
  4. This was posted in the main Mamamoo thread, but I'll repost it here: http://www.kqcf.org/xe/newsletter/172905 It's an interview with the creator of the Rainbow Moomoos sponsorship group for this year's Korean Queer Culture Festival (Pride). (For those who don't know, this group helped raise funds in Mamamoo's name to put on KQCF, and in return got a full page spread in the event's keepsake booklet because of how much they raised.) I don't speak a lick of Korean, so I just have the gist of it by running it through online translators. There are a few interesting points: When asked about the significance of the group, the creator basically answered: There are a lot of queer Moomoos and a lot of people tacitly know but this group officially acknowledges it. They go on to briefly mention how homophobia and fear of coming out causes queer erasure in the fandom, and they hope this group will help queer Moomoos see that they're not alone. The interviewer asked about queer-friendly Mamamoo songs. Answers: UOAY-B/c it's about chasing a man who turns out to be a butch woman lol; Finally-Lyrics are not gender-specific and even though it's not ostensibly queer, it can be interpreted that way easily; Hwasa's solos "I Do Me" and "Pink Panties" and "Yes I Am"-They're full of queer power and being unapologetic about who you are, how you dress and act; and Worthless/Love and Hate-"As soon as Moonbyul's solo song came out, many fans assumed both the speaker and listener were women." Yeah. Overall, the creator said that it has more meaning too because Mamamoo helps write their own lyrics. The interviewer asks why Mamamoo attracts so many queer fans. Answer: On the surface UOAY had impact, and there is good chemistry between members, but those aren't the main reasons. It's really because of Mamamoo's image. They're not like other GGs and they're proud of who they are even if they're different, and this energy attracts queer fans. Whew! I know this is long already, but here are my thoughts: It's nice to hear the number of queer fans acknowledged by a Kmoomoo. As ifans we don't want to project too much but now we have confirmation that yes, Moomoos are really f****** gay. Most of the songs are obvious. Finally is interesting because to me it sounded like it could be about falling in love with a woman (as a woman yourself) for the first time. ****Now I'm sorry for all this formatting but can I just emphasize that queer Moomoos (maybe straight ones too, I dunno) assumed Worthless is about a lesbian relationship? We all did here and so did my Twitter, but this is from a Korean person. This basically seems like everyone over there assumes Byul is gay too. Why else would you instantly assume that her solo song, which *she wrote*, is sung to a woman. The lyrics aren't gender specific. She doesn't say "girl." It's just...everything Moonbyul has ever written or covered seems like it's sung to a woman because she's gay AF. If Korean Moomoos who are part of her culture, who attend fansigns, events, and see everything much more "up close" assume Moonbyul is gay even in a society which erases homosexuality, that makes me feel like how we interpret things isn't so far off the mark...**** I agree with the overall reason for Mamamoo's popularity among queer fans, but it was nice to hear the mention of the members' chemistry. Summary: even Kmoomoos think Moonbyul is super gay Edit: Sorry for the post vomit. Wanted to add that the English apology for the infamous incident specifically mentioned that they're accepting of their fans' sexualities. So they know they have queer fans, and it's probably not a stretch to think that maybe one or more members is also queer...
  5. First the Polaroid, now the sticker...It makes me feel like Solar is the one who's high-key into all the cutesy couple stuff. Moonbyul's actually been pretty reserved lately, she seems more self conscious of their interactions, but Solar's just decorating all her shit with Byul lol. If she had a locker it'd have Byul's posters all over it... [emoji38]
  6. Thanks for this! I follow their twitter account and I've been keeping up a little by running tweets through Google Translate but I've been wondering how things were going as KQCF approaches. It's interesting to see evidence that there are a lot of queer/ally Moomoos no matter the country. I know a lot of us iMoomoos are queer (and let's face it, probably 90% of Byul stans are lesbians haha). I think it's great that they put this together so that young queer kpop fans--they welcomed fans of other groups of course, Moomoo hospitality ftw--can meet and support each other.
  7. Yeah, Solar's worn her usual silver bracelet (which matches her sister's) once or twice while wearing street clothes but I can't recall a stage outfit with it. Maybe she's worried about losing it. I think the key chain looking thing is just a hair thing. I've had one like it, it's supposed to be more gentle than regular ties on your hair and not leave those ponytail creases; she's worn it in her hair many times. Anyway, I'm also curious about the sudden jewelry change up... Speaking of which, people noticed Solar's new triangle anklet but it hasn't been talked about much since it first appeared. It showed up at the end of May at a festival I believe and Solar seems to wear it about half the time, including on "off" days so it's her personal jewelry. She's actually wearing it in some, but not all, promotional photos for this comeback. Personally, I feel like they thought it was somewhat subtle relationship jewelry-just a simple triangle on an anklet (since they now know we analyze what's on their wrists to death! See: black bracelet). Both Moonbyul and Solar seem to only wear personal jewelry that is meaningful, and I'm not sure what else it could mean? Moonbyul's been wearing a pair of rings often this comeback: a star and a bunny. I know this is a stretch but she doesn't wear them separately...they don't seem like personal jewelry, though, they seem like fashion rings from their communal stage jewelry box. But still, why keep reaching for these two, hmm?
  8. Hmm this is a good point. I actually think Byul's apartment may be in a different building because of Byul's bday/Lotte World outing. They said that they were removing makeup after schedules at their [separate] homes when Solar came over and told Byul she was downstairs, needing to be buzzed in I'm assuming. After that crazy fan followed them home and supposedly saw them go into the same apartment once (which really doesn't prove anything and is just too far) I couldn't blame them for wanting apartments in different buildings. However, it's always possible that they told the story that way to protect their privacy and/or obscure the truth. Moonsun has been known to do that, after all... The timeline you bring up is interesting. I wonder if the apartments in the same building were just a short term thing. As in, maybe RBW put them in short-term furnished apartments (like corporate apartments) as per their agreement that they could move out, but only until they secured more permanent apartments for themselves? It takes time to apartment hunt and move so that seems like a reasonable intermediate. But who knows? Maybe Solar really liked her original apartment but the other 3 moved out at random times because there were nearby units that were cheaper/bigger/more private/quieter, etc that became available? Or perhaps the original explanation of living in the same building was a lie or misspeak and they actually already lived nearby but separate. We'll probably never know but it's interesting to wonder about.
  9. No, the 2nd half of one of the "reality" episodes had only Chinese subs for a few hours if I'm remembering correctly
  10. Oh my god, these gays...where to start? I finally finished watching the full LieV with subs...I feel like they wouldn't be so suspicious if they had either done comfortable skinship (like Wheesa) OR kept it professional and avoided contact. But instead they tried to not touch too much at first, only to do all these subtle, affectionate little actions, and then turn around and stop the touching again! I feel like Byul is particularly guilty of doing this as of late. It reminds me of BTS Curtain Call Rehearsal, when Moonbyul took Solar to look at the rice wreaths. She puts her arms around her waist but then immediately releases like she's on fire or something (@3:26 min: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1cGpAW9Sjz4amRJTWttcFk5VE0/view). There's also the moment during the MMMTV3 they just released of BTS during YIA MV shoot, where Byul starts to put her arm around Yongsun's shoulders and then pulls back. And of course the LieV with A) Byul cuddling Solar with her arm on her waist and then removing it 10 seconds later and B) the extremely awkward I'm-going-to-touch-you-no-wait-I'm-just-fixing-my-hair move at the very end. Moonbyul is super affectionate with other girls (like on IDOT lol) but doesn't do all this weird stuff. It's so obvious that she's hyper aware of their skinship these days but acting like she's caught doing something naughty is not helping her case. The nails! When Solar said she'd recently gotten into doing them herself I assumed that she'd been practicing on Byul. The way Byul agreed and responded sounded so much like she was very familiar with this recent hobby, like she's with Solar when she does it ("You work really hard at it" etc). Moonbyul usually appears with painted nails during MV shooting and then reverts to her usual lesbian unpainted nails a week into a CB, but this time she's had completely different manicures every few days or so. Then at the fansign they just had: Click here to view the Tweet so it's confirmed! Someone posted Byul's nails from today a few pages back, and well...it's pretty obvious that Solar has been practicing different techniques on every single nail (it looks a bit like if you let your child paint your nails haha). With how busy they've been, and how often Byul's nails have changed lately, I don't know when they'd have time to do them unless Byul is staying over at Yong's place. And OMG with all the nudity! I agree with others--if they're "friends," why is Solar showering while Byul is over frequently enough that Byul knows her pre-shower rituals in such detail?? And the fact that Byul sees Solar dancing naked right before she bathes means that Byul is either in the bathroom with her, or in the bedroom (most people have a laundry hamper in the bedroom, so maybe she undresses there and then walks to the bathroom). I know that Koreans are more open about nudity, but it's a little different than if they were 18 year old girls living together in a dorm and they had to get ready at the same time. But on top of the fact that the nudity happens ALL THE TIME apparently, Moonbyul also somehow knew that that was when Solar felt the sexiest. There's a difference between seeing your friends naked in an unashamed, this is my body kind of way like in a gym locker room and it's another for them to tell (or show ) you how sexually attractive they feel in that moment. Finally, the whole "sister" thing is a feeble attempt at misdirection by Solar IMO. I did the same to my SO back when they were dating someone else but I was hopelessly in love with them...because I wanted to express how close I felt to them without being inappropriate.
  11. I had so much great news awaiting me this morning! 5M MV views+dance practice vid and 1st music show win! I became a Moomoo last summer (Julyish) but that's also when I got into Kpop, so Decalcomanie was my first CB with any group. I feel like it was a dry run so to speak because I didn't know what I was doing haha...I streamed on YT but I was overwhelmed by everything else going on. This time I'm an official Moo on the fancafe, I'm YT streaming, I'm keeping up with charts, voting, and streaming on Melon. I feel so much more invested and I'm so happy this CB is going so well! The girls are working so hard, they deserve it! /speech
  12. Click here to view the Tweet So Mamamoo's going to do a LieV...It'll be interesting to see what order they're in for that. [emoji38]
  13. 4AM for me too, but since I work at 8 am I'm actually going to bed soon. I'll be getting up at 3:50, watching cb stuff, then trying to catch a few more zzs until 6-6:30. YES I AM CRAZY
  14. Episode 11 was barely more than an extended version of the dance practice video. :( I'm feeling a little antsy that nothing is really progressing. Every episode leaves me wanting more...
  15. Woah this thread is blowing up! Welcome new people I love reading everyone's different perspectives and current thoughts. It just struck me as I was catching up how my feelings have changed over time. At first I figured Solar was a wlw but couldn't decide gay/bi/pan/etc, though I felt like Byul was definitely gay. As time goes on though, I feel like Solar is for sure a lesbian while Byul is possibly bi. To put Kinsey numbers to it, I put Solar at 6 and Byul a 4-5. I'm interested to see how Moonsun will be this comeback. If DCCM was all googly eyes and sexual tension (for newer folks, a lot of ppl feel like they may have gotten together for real around then), what will Purple be? I feel like Moonsun, and Moonbyul in particular, have pulled back a bit. Not hiding things per se, but just being a little more low-key about interacting amongst themselves and making an effort to interact more with the maknaes. Byul said she's afraid people won't like them if they get too close and also that their increase in popularity makes her want to be more professional, so I wonder that she may be trying to curate her public persona more. (Solar is just all, here's a pic of me and my gf! Remember how we go on vacation by ourselves all the time?) But then greasy Byul has made a sudden comeback so all bets are off! And MadameVastra: watching how long it takes for Moonsun to end up glued to each other is something of a game for my SO. It's so consistent you could probably start a bet before every appearance lmao Tl;dr: Eagerly anticipating the gay this comeback
  16. Lol, I pretty much had that exact reaction: "I'm so glad Solar is out of the house with a friend!" On my tl I saw a bunch of people saying things like, "Aha! So Byul was in fact at Solar's!" after IDOT last night. Meanwhile, us Moonsun shippers had no doubts after seeing the millisecond teaser clip from previous eps. We haven't rewatched everything ever filmed at Solar's house for nothing! Lmao
  17. I haven't gotten an email yet either, but she tweeted yesterday that they arrived at her Korean address and 2nd emails will be forthcoming. (I was starting to wonder too until yesterday's tweet.)
  18. Thank you so much, I've been curious about that word for so long! It makes a lot of sense especially in the context of today's teaser. I've got my fingers crossed that we're getting a hardcore, girl-power concept: "I'm not perfect according to society but you know what, I'm awesome anyway!" Praying that we can avoid a guy in the MV but not holding my breath lol. Also I finally leveled up to official Moomoo status today thanks to aripene's Fancafe for Dummies help. I paid for it, might as well use it I suppose...
  19. I love the new track already, but I might be biased because I love EDM/house music already. And I always love Mamamoo in white!!!
  20. Just did it, and hopefully it doesn't get kicked back for any reason. Thank you so much! I regret that I have but one upvote to give. [emoji106] I'm having to do this on mobile which I felt made it even more confusing. I looked at some posts on the international forum but I still just wasn't getting it (and I think I was lowkey afraid of being banned or something for accidentally posting in the wrong area). Thank you again for giving me dummy instructions. [emoji173]
  21. So hyped!! Can someone explain to me the concept of "bluffing" though? Not just now, but in the past I've seen this word used in subs and I feel like there's a connotation that's not really being translated. As a native English speaker, to me, it just means "lying." I mostly have heard it used in card games when you have to hide your hand well lol...Does the Korean word it's being translated from have a slightly different or more complex meaning? Cause cute bluffing is just downright nonsensical to me. (Maybe it's just too early...) Also, help an overwhelmed Moo out? I've been on the fancafe for two hours trying to figure out the official fanclub level up and I'm about to tear my hair out. Does someone have updated instructions they can direct me to? Finally (hehe), I'm STOKED for an EDM track from Mamamoo. I think it'll be really interesting to hear them tackle a new genre!
  22. I've been meaning to ask, are there any translations of Deep Blue Eyes floating around yet? Or at least the rap parts? It's so catchy but I have no idea what it's about lmao.
  23. Yeah, they moved out of the dorms sometime after UOAY (summer 2015). Definitely by 2YG's Night of Music vlive on 150930 cause they're at Hwasa's house; they may have mentioned it before that but I can't recall off the top of my head. I'm being optimistic about IDOT. I think it's likely that Byul and some of the other low-screen time girls (D.ana I feel for you!) didn't have as compelling self cam footage. If you've got limited episode time to fill and you've got touching stories about missing family, reminiscing with old diaries (which Somi, Sujoung, Sohee, and Seulgi all did this ep) that makes for better tv than typing at a computer with a pensive look on your face. Byul plays off others well and directs coversation a lot so I think with all the girls together she'll have more screen time. I hope D.ana gets lots of time too, since she's so quiet and reserved.
