The cinematography and the anime industry are two different things. They are not related in any way. Shoujo manga live action with hit actors is an easy income and less risky for movie producers so it's not really special. Also shoujo animes rarely get 2nd season especially after all these years. give up and read the manga

To commemorate one hundred years of Japanese anime history, NHK has announced a list of 100 Best Anime on Wednesday at NHK BS Premium. The list is based on the audience's votes regarding their best anime that aired until September 2016; which was held between January 8 to March 31, 2017. The 3-hour program featured seiyuu interviews, promotional videos, polls, anime clips, commentaries, and talks about the industry in-between rankings. People loves controversial topics (and it's not just in animes. You can find worse in books). Thus, these types of stories makes money. Many less popular shows doesnt feature these 'services'. I personally dont waste time on these types of shows but I still find 2 or 3 things to watch per season. So you've just been watching the wrong ones.
