  1. Omgah they all look fab! And if you scroll down the twt thread it also has the magazine teaser vids
  2. As long as you've worked on your assignments, practice exams, etc, then you're prepared for this exam. You've got this!
  3. Ouch, my fave is a multiple "winner" of such awards. edit: My JP fave is also a "winner" too.
  4. even Seventeen have borderline noisepop songs and/or songs with badass concept like Fear, Hit, Fearless and 24H as the most recent examples. And none of those songs/performances are boring at all. So the knetz using Seventeen as an example are prolly either trolls or casual stans who only listened to their Special album.
  5. Happy 20th Birthday, Shion! May you have lots of your favorite potato salad today and on many more birthdays to come
  6. Top10 in just one month! Rise, P1H, riiise ! I wonder if they'd be higher if it wasn't for that scandal. Anyway, it's all in the past. Their songs and performances are good so I'm looking forward to their growth.
  7. People saying that SK/CHN don't like being accused of CA because "it's pushed by Western stans" makes me rme. The Knet reaction when Sam Okyere criticized students for parodying his country's coffin dance while wearing blackface shows that they don't like being criticized by foreigners, whether it comes from Western stans or from non-Western stans. Rather than admit their bias they get mad at the ones pointing it out and accuse them back, as if 2 wrongs make a right. To be fair, other knetz admit the racism and try to make amends, but they are not the ones controlling the narrative. C-netz also get defensive about accusations of racism and CA too, whether it's by Western or non-Western people. When a skit in the CCTV Spring Gala was criticized by Kenyans because of it's racist/CA elements (like having a black performer play a monkey, a Chinese actress wearing blackface, a prosthetic butt, and a basket of fruit over her head play as a Kenyan grandmother). Not only were some cnets defensive but the Chinese foreign ministry accused Kenyans of "blindly copying Western media reports". [x] Other cnets who criticized the skit had their comments censored in Weibo. [x] -- As for Hendery, i had hoped that removing that clip in his Weibo was a sign that he acknowledged how offensive his clip was. But from his response afterwards, it seems that he removed it because he got criticized, not because he understood why he was being criticized.
  8. Daesung may not have released solo material in Korea but he still kept promoting as a Bigbang member in Japan and even released solo material there. And given how YG bragged to Han Seohee that they can make Hanbin avoid the SK police investigating him for drugs by making iKON tour abroad, I suspect the same thing happened to Bigbang w/ Daesung and Seungri as well. Seungri's "accident" wasn't really forgotten. In fact it came up during the Burning Sun/Molkka scandal, when Seungri was suspected of removing any evidence related to his accident and to his ties with the police. And like I mentioned in my previous post, the reason behind the Prosecution's Civic Action Committee recommended the dismissal of Jungkook's case wasn't revealed at all.
  9. Nichkhun is an example of a SEA Kpop idol who has (or used to have) gp popularity in SK and has solo activities in and outside of Korea. Because of that, I think that Hanbin can learn from Nichkhun's successes and mistakes as he tries to make his own debut. I compared Nichkhun's accident with Daesung, redacted and Jungkook's accident to show that 2PM did not serve as Nichkhun's shield at all
  10. Pointing out any flaws in an opposing argument is part of a healthy discussion. This is not the first time we've argued before. Like you've said, this is how I always post. So I don't know why you thought I'd react differently when you replied to me first. And it seems my intense posts/responses are acceptable in this forum, considering how I've yet to receive a warning/ban. Also, an argument based on a valid assumption is still valid.[x] Nichkhun caused a fender -bender while driving under influence and was summarily indicted for drunk-driving. His Korean driving license was suspended and he was sentenced with a fine. [x] After the sentencing, he went into temporary hiatus for self-reflection. He was never able to regain the popularity that he had before the accident. You say 2PM was Nichkhun's shield, how was he shielded at the time when he needed it the most? Because his DUI case was normal compared with other DUI cases. Even if Nichkhun and Hanbin's paths are not exactly the same, some aspects of it are similar - foreign SEA male , nice personality, received criticisms from singing, etc. So Hanbin can also learn what to do and what NOT to do as an idol using Nichkhun as an example. If you find my reply too intense, then don't reply to me any further and I will stop replying to you.
  11. Tg Seventeen was exempted I was abt to tell knetz to have their eyes checked if they did. Also my other faves JO1 may have been wearing scarlet+dark outfits when they were performing MAMA but their song and image concept for their 2nd song isn't dark at all. Shine a Light is about how friendship shines a light in the darkest recesses of the heart. (Skip to 3:30) Looking at how JO1 are smiling and singing joyfully can soothe your heart.
  12. The fact that Daesung was never detained at any point during the investigation, not even while YG's lawyers played hardball for 2 days with the deceased victims' relatives over compensation, shows that Bigbang DID serve as a shield during his accident. Daesung wasn't drunk-driving either, neither was Seungri. As for Jungkook, even though he wasn't drunk driving, police have determined that that there was “serious negligence involved in the accident”. [x] Before he joined Produce S2, Samuel debuted as a member of 1Punch and was even a solo artist who won the Seoul Music Awards for Global Collaboration for his debut solo single Spotlight with Silento.[x] So it's funny how you wish to exclude Nichkhun because he first debuted as a member of a group but cited Samuel as an alternative example. Also there ARE more eliminated foreign idol trainees who have debuted or has solo predebut activities, thanks to the fandom that they gained from idol survival shows. Produce48/Idol School Natty was already cited. There's Produce X Tony, who didn't debut in the P1Harmony lineup but is still connected with FNC/Hongyi Ent, had a solo fanmeet and is rumored to join Produce China. There's also Produce X Peak who is casted in a Thai drama and is also joining a Chinese idol survival show called Asia Super Young.[x] That Hanbin has a solo fanmeet and now a pre-stage performance in Bighit's NYE concert after his I-Land elimination, makes me hopeful about his future, whether it be solo, asa member of a group, or as a trainee in another survival show.
  13. Eh Idt 2PM was a shield for Nichkhun. Otherwise his popularity wouldn't have fallen after his traffic accident controversy. Not like how Big Bang was a shield for Daesung and Seungri's traffic accident controversy or how BTS was a shield for Jungkook's traffic accident controversy.
  14. 2PM got popular a year after their debut but Nichkhun had fan posts praising his looks even before they were popular. There was even a clip from their reality show where each member had to stand in the middle of the street and Nichkhun was the only member that got considerable attention from pedestrians. That's why i called him the proto-Suzy.
  15. Henry and Khun may have started in popularity as a group member but their solo career grew from the strength of their own fandom. Esp Henry considering that there were only13 fans who wanted him out of Super Junior.
  16. Yeah Nichkhun was the proto-Suzy back then. He hasn't left 2PM but he has his own solo activities. He released an album last year and is cast in an Asian-American film this year. [x] One of his most recent Korea-related activities this year is when he guested at Eric Nam's podcast [sidenote: Lots of interesting idol audition stories in Eric's podcast! Like this Nichkhun ep where he shared how he auditioned for JYP at a parking lot. And Eric The Boyz where he ran away in the middle of his audition but the scout chased him down ]
  17. For male, there's 2PM Nichkhun (Thai) but knetz usually say that he's "handsome for a Thai person"
  18. Grab that opportunity, Hanbin! I've always suspected that Hanbin's fanbase is bigger than just SEA/Viets, and that lack of popularity was not the reason for his elimination. If he's the only undebuted trainee invited to perform, then that makes me even more convinced. But i think this opportunity also be another test to see if Hanbin's skills have improved and if his fandom has longevity.

  20. cmiiw, but some of the performances were live like the Kingdom collab perf and the BOA tribute perf
  21. i wonder if there's gonna be a Double Million Seller award
  22. Omg Woozi And we would've never heard Woozi do a Bruno Mars cover if he didn't need to test his new mic, can you imagine that? Therefore we should petition that Pledis should replace their artists' mics, and have their artists test those mics more often.
  23. Koreaboo and Allkpop are based in the US, and they've posted articles about that. [x] [x] [x]
