  1. Avex's popular acts are still popular, even though some of them may have passed their peak. but a lot of their newer acts don't have a hit. Basically anybody that's on the same tier as Ayumi Hamasaki, Daichi Miura, SKE48, TVXQ, and EXILE are prolly still safe. But the ones that are on the same level as moumoon or below would be in danger. edit: by comparison, moumoon's last hit was in 2010, when Sunshine Girl reached Top 10 in the Oricon singles chart [x] Praying so hard for FAKY rn
  2. Re: Top10 Singles (Cumulative) and Top10 Albums (Cumulative) charts "Combined" would prolly be a more accurate and consistent term for 合算 than "Cumulative", based on Arama Japan's translation of Oricon's introduction about said charts: "Combined" was also the term used for those two charts in OH's Oricon 2020 Mid-Year Rankings thread. [x]
  3. here's info on the missing entries in the Top 20 Indie Single note: the eng trans are from google tl, so there might be some inaccuracies. 2. 約束の空 - 刀剣男士 formation of 葵咲 Yakusoku no Sora ( Promised Sky ) - Touken Danshi formation of Kishou 7.嗜好に関する世論調査 - 原因は自分にある。 Shikou ni kansuru Yoron chousa ( Public opinion survey on taste ) - Genin wa Jibun ni aru 8.二人だけの初めてをもっと - 26時のマスカレイド Futari Dake No Hajimete Wo Motto ( One More First-Time for Just the Two of Us ) - 26Jino Masquerade 15.CD買ったら(送料)サヨウナラ(Love For「M」/カルイザワザワHEY!/U3!(歌広場が歌った恥ずかしい歌)/夏物語2020) - ゴールデンボンバー CD Kattara Souryo Sayounara (Love For「M」/ KARUIZAWAZAWA HEY! / U3! O・NO・MA・TO・PE! - AMEZARI-RED STARS-/BATTLE BOYS OSAKA No problem, idk a lot of Japanese so I used Google translate too! Step1: From the link that you have, use only the "oricon.co.jp" part of the url. This will take you to the main Oricon news website. Step2: Click the Ranking ( ランキング ) tab. This will take you to the Ranking page. Step3: In the Ranking page, there are collapsible buttons for the Oricon charts in the left section. If you toggle those buttons these will give you daily, weekly, monthly, and/or year end charts. (note: For non-Japanese speakers, use Google translate) Or you can take a shortcut and type the url using this formula: "https://oricon.co.jp/rank/VV/y/CCYY/" (w/o quotes) where: VV = js (singles), ja (albums), is (indie singles), ia (indie albums), ko (karaoke), or dg (DVD) (note: case-sensitive) and CCYY = 4-digit year ex: To get the full Oricon 2019 year end singles charts, type: "https://oricon.co.jp/rank/js/y/2019/" (w/o quotes) in the url bar. (note: only data from the last 5 years are free; data more than 5-years old, more in-depth data and/or data from certain specific charts might require paid registration [x])
  4. More info gives a better picture of the current state of the music industry like in Japan. Also if you check Oricon ranking there are other Oricon year end charts not mentioned in source OP and some of the charts alr posted in OP have a more comprehensive ver in the Oricon ranking (i.e shows Top 100 instead of Top10, etc). Year - Single (Top100): [x] Year - Album (Top100): [x] Year - Indie single (Top 20): [x] Year - Indie album (Top 20) [x] Year - Karaoke (Top 10) [x] Year - DVD (Top 20) [x]
  5. That 700k dip in April is prolly due to lockdown but it looks like Nuest's move to Weverse in Aug2020 hurt them more than it helped them since they went from 1M+ to 900k+ afterwards when they should have maintained or even increased their rep esp in October bc they released their JP album. [nitpick: top15 is such a random number they should have gone with top10 top20 or top100]
  6. why is it top 25 for singles and albums but top 10 for the rest?
  7. It doesn't have to be one or the other. This incident can be related to both issues at the same time.
  8. https://www.allkpop.com/forum/threads/woojin-innocent-proof.501996/ All the accusers, even the original one turned out to be Brazilian fans and attend the same dance academy.
  9. I don't dispute that BTS world tour was bigger but that doesn't negate the fact that Teen Top was able to get not just one but 4 NA dates in NY, LA, San Jose, and Toronto even if the Dallas date did not push through [x] , considering that it was the 1st Kpop purely crowdfunded tour . As for the cancelled Teen Top US concerts in in 2016 [x] That happened after Niel got caught multiple times with his gf and Changjo got caught regifting his fans' gifts to Glam Jiyeon. So a lot of their fansites started to be on hiatus. [x] [x] Other than that, I acknowledge that BTS first world tour is bigger than Teen Top's world tour despite Teen Top being the first. Goes to show that Kcon 2014 isn't really a big factor of BTS success bc if it were then other Kpop groups who were also popular in Kcon 2014 back then should have grown in fandom and popularity in the same rate as BTS but stagnated or lost their popularity instead like what happened to Teen Top.
  10. ooo so apparently BTS did covers of HOT and Shinhwa when they were still nugus So maybe LSM does have some influence but to say that "there won't be a BTS without LSM" is still a stretch. In fact BTS might have been acknowledged as a top group faster if it wasn't for insecure EXO-Ls trying to downplay their success. == Kcon 2014... Teen Top was so popular back then, their cheers were so loud you could even hear the fanchants for Rocking So popular that they were the only group aside from Girls Generation and Big Bang GD to be used by Mnet to hype their Kcon 2014 experience Teen Top was also the first group to have a world tour due to pure crowdfunding. [x] So popular that butthurt Hottests Shawols and Exo-ls kept accusing them of sajaegi. Their popularity dropped a bit due to Niel's gf controversy (100k to 80k sales) but they really dropped from 80k to 20k when LJoe left bc Top Media kept cockblocking his solo activities.
  11. Apparently the reason why Seventeen is included in the discussion is because they received the Prime Minister award from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for widely promoting the excellence of K-Pop at the forefront of the Korean Wave for the following: - Heng:garae surpassing 1 million copies in 1st-week sales (Semicolon also achieved a million copies in sales but that happened after the awards) - platinum album certification in Japan for 24H (also double platinum single certification for Fallin Flower but the article forgot to mention that) - Semicolon topping Oricon weekly charts despite being an overseas album. [x] However Seventeen's contract with Pledis is set to expire in 2022, and by that time S Coups the eldest is alr 27. And he and some of the members have hinted that they have a lot of issues with the company. So unless Pledis improves their management enough to convince Seventeen to re-sign, it's possible that the Korean members would rather let the contract expire and not postpone their military enlistment.
  12. Never thought I'd see the day that Knetz acknowledge Jpop JYP YG and Psy's impact Anyway if there was no Lee Soo Man there would still be the DSP CEO, who cofounded Sobangcha, the "prototype for future K-pop groups such as H.O.T, Sechskies and S.E.S." [x] That CEO also created Sech Skies, who was HOT's rival and eventually moved from DSP to YG and outlasted HOT, although their fandom took a hit after Kang Sunghoon's embezzlement controversy. sidenote: Kang Sung Hoon's embezzlement and fraud case was dismissed by the prosecution due to lack of evidence. [x]
  13. Thank you! There's also one clown reaction in the OP, which is also v disturbing since the OP was just a tweet of the source article. I hope that one user and the mass clown reactors would get the hint and not do their shtick again, but if they still don't then I'll be sure to let the mods know.
  14. There are multiple users harrassing me by reaction stalking my posts about 2NE1's song trending due to a murder incident in the Celeb News and Gossip section. I don't mind being mass-clowned or even disliked if my posts are random, offensive and not news-related. But being mass-clowned for being serious about a report abt a murder incident and for asking a user to not go off-topic is very disturbing. I only clowned one user bc they admitted they were not being serious in their posts in that thread. I didn't even fight them or call them names. I just asked them to stay on-topic and even asked them to address any valid concerns about my thread to the mods.
  15. Additional info fr Philippine news web site '2NE1' trends on Twitter after policeman shoots unarmed mother and son in Tarlac Published December 21, 2020 12:33pm The Korean girl group "2NE1" trended on Twitter on Monday morning after a video of a policeman shooting an unarmed mother and son in Tarlac went viral. If you're wondering what the K-Pop group has to do with a crime that happened in the Philippines, here's what. In the viral video, Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca was seen shooting an unarmed mother and son, Sonya Rufino Gregorio and Frank Anthony Gregoria, in Barangay Cabayaosan in Paniqui, Tarlac. An initial investigation showed that Nuezca and the victims had an altercation regarding right of way, before the shooting incident transpired. Sonya was seen in the video hugging Frank Anthony in an attempt to stop the latter from facing the policeman. According to the police, Nuezca went to the house of the mother and son after hearing an explosion caused by a "boga," an improvised cannon made of PVC pipes usually used during New Year celebrations. Reports said Frank Anthony was allegedly drunk when the conversation happened. Moments before Nuezca shot Sonya and Frank, the viral video showed Nuezca's daughter shouting at the victims, saying "My father is a policeman." Sonya then answered, shouting back lyrics of the 2NE1 song "I don't care" before Nuezca was seen shooting the mother and son twice in the head. On Twitter, netizens were heart broken over the incident and pointed out how they won't be able to look the song the same way again. 2NE1 trended on Twitter with over 34,000 tweets as of writing. Along with #StopTheKillingsPH, #MyFatherIsAPoliceman also trended on Philippine Twitter with over 140,000 tweets. Nuezca, who is assigned in Parañaque City, has already surrendered to authorities, minutes after the shooting incident on Sunday afternoon. He is presently under the custody of Paniqui Police Station and is facing double murder charges. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News Source [x]
  16. a group winning most of the award shows is only boring for success stans.
  17. Wow Seungkwan finally performing an English cover onstage and not behind the scenes! I'm so proud. Hope he does more official English covers in the future, esp a full cover of Adele's Hello And Akmu Suhyun's voice is so soothing. I've always loved listening to her English covers. It breaks my heart that her official Santa Tell Me cover video is no longer up and only the fan upload is available.
  18. KFDA supposedly has quality control guidelines like bioequivalence studies to ensure that alt/generic brands are bioequivalent (i.e same efficacy, same risks, same side effects, etc) to the original brand even if they have diff non-active ingredients. Korea is also a member of WHO which also has bioequivalence guidelines. So if the zolpidem fr Korea causes bad side effects while the zolpidem fr Japan doesn't, this raises huge questions about SK's drug quality control, which already had issues w/ drug testing fraud in 2006 [x] and the valsartan incident in 2018 [x]. But SM's official statement never mentioned if those ones (fr KR w/c gave her bad side effects) was zolpidem or not. We only know that one of the meds ordered from Japan was zolpidem based on the news articles about the investigation. [x]
  19. Their official statement is even more confusing. How would Zolpidem from Japan be any different from Zolpidem from Korea?
  20. Boggles my mind how networks like KBS still kowtow to SM even though they're no longer the Top Kpop company.
  21. SK Food and Drug Safety Ministry changed their guidelines recently, which has led to a decrease in average SK doctor prescriptions per patient for zolpidem, propofol, and appetite suppressants. [x] So even though zolpidem is still legal in SK, the stricter guidelines is a possible explanation as to why SM staff chose to get zolpidem for BOA in Japan instead.
