Produce 101 China announces Mentors + Super Trainee
namidaone replied to Lee's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
cg Amber! I wonder if she's gonna be the rap mentor or dance mentor. cg to the other mentors too! Also I thought that one of the members of Exile Japan was also going to be a mentor in this show. But maybe that was just a false rumor, or negotiations fell through. -

Did you like the idea behind Produce 101 all rigging aside?
namidaone replied to satoori's topic in Netizen Nation
i liked the idea that the national producers (aka viewers of the show) have the sole power to decide who gets in the debut group thru voting, And I liked that Produce provides all trainees focus cams, regardless of who their faves were so even if there was devil/angel/ghost edits, I could just skip the episode and watch the focus cams instead. Disliked the leaking of spoilers to certain trainees to give them a heads-up on the evaluations, the edits without giving a disclaimer that scenes and characters may be staged/edited for plot purposes, and most of all the voting manipulation by the production staff and certain companies. I will support the new season if all of the following conditions are met: - edit: Disclaimer on the edits at each episode - Lineup is decided by the national producers votes only -- no involvement from judges or a select panel or a production crew. - Clear and consistent voting guidelines -- no changes in the middle of the show - Voting is transparent, legitimate, and audited by an independent and professional accounting firm. -

Going Seventeen to go on a break + change times
namidaone replied to lighterxx's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
yea idt it's silly for Carats to speculate if the GOSE schedule change is a BH decision or not. As for people claiming that Pledis is an independent label by referring to Big Hit's announcement about the acquisition, they should bear in mind that press releases aren't always 100% factual. There* can be exaggerations, understatements, even outright lies in a press release. That's why there's such a thing as mediaplay. A Carat explained it better in their tweet -
Going Seventeen to go on a break + change times
namidaone replied to lighterxx's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Why are non-Seventeen stans coming here to defend Going Seventeen's schedule change? It's not their group whose schedule got changed, it wouldn't negatively affect their group or their label if Carat fights for GoSe to stay at 10:10 KST. Why not just say "aww that would suck if it happened to my group" or better yet just stay out of it in the first place? and just go after the toxic Carat replies which unjustly blame their groups for this? Any group has their own symbolisms that they use as references in their work be it colors, catch phrases, musical motifs, food products, and in Going Seventeen's case - numbers. It's part of a group's brand identity, so it's understandable why fans want to protect it esp if the group or the parent/sub label hasn't given a good explanation for the change. -
Seventeen backed out of BH Labels NY concert due to an unspecified schedule conflict. Also Seventeen MVs have been posted in other channels aside from Seventeen ch and Seventeen Japan ch even before the acquisition like 1theK for example BigHit's role is similar to 1TheK's role pre-acquisition in the sense that they're also involved with the distribution and promotion aspects in Seventeen's activities The difference now is that Seventeen's KR MVs are uploaded in BHL channel solely. So the monetization for those MVs goes through BHL first before it can trickle down to them, unlike before where they can get monetization both directly thru Seventeen channel and as a trickle-down fr 1theK or another 3rd-party label. (The JP MVs are still uploaded in Seventeen JP ch) Also Seventeen no longer performs in any broadcast stations/platforms that have a feud/rivalry with BH (MBC) yet BHL artists including Seventeen still promote in the ones where Pledis/Seventeen have a feud with but BH has a partnership/neutral relationship with (Mnet and more recently KBS). So the relationship is too one-sided to be considered a family even in the Kpop sense, imo. But it's been less than a year since Pledis was acquired, so hopefully it will be a more mutual relationship in the future. Infinite's Comeback Again MV wasn't really that dark compared with the beast-dols but it wasn't really that bright compared with the flower boys during that era, either. (side-note: more info abt * flower boys, and beast-dols [x]) That distinction is more apparent in their stages imo Also Infinite were called beagle-dols bc they* had a noisy+silly persona in variety shows. Their group intro during their debut era was even mentioned in one of the Weekly idol eps. (timestamp 07:22)

Taste! I love the city jazz vibes in that song. Also love the blend of playfulness and melancholy in the lyrics.

Apparently, Woollim Label reorganized and got the "Woollim Ent" name back in 2016 but they're still a SM C&C subsidiary. [x] It can be a bit confusing but hopefully this old twt fr an Inspirit makes it clearer. == anyway idk if it's coincidence or no but parallels can be drawn between Seventeen and Infinite. - debuted with beagle-dol concept - kings of synchronization in their era - part of the top kpop bg trinity at their peak: ShiBeIn - EBS - further expanded their popularity when they started promoting in Japan - their label getting acquired by one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) Kpop labels at that time

"Clarkson's show debuted in fall 2019 and became the most watched new daytime talk show in seven years. The current season — which returned to studio production after filming remotely in the spring and summer — is putting up solid ratings as well, averaging 1.31 million daily viewers and ranking in the top five syndicated talkers. "The Kelly Clarkson Show is one of the most optimistic success stories in first-run syndication," said Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. "Kelly is a beloved performer and host with deep roots at NBC, and we are delighted to have her continue to be a very important and treasured part of our stations' programming." The show won three Daytime Emmys in 2020, including one for Clarkson as best entertainment talk show host. Duda is the executive producer and showrunner." [x]

that sucks. We used to see/hear birds roosting in trees in the evening, fireflies glowing, and bats flying in our neighborhood at night, we don't see/hear those anymore ever since my town cleared some of its forest/grassland to build 2 new residential districts more than a year ago. == But let's not lose hope. One of the papers cited in the article suggests 8 steps we can take to save insects from further global decline: [x] TL/DR: Create insect-friendly habitats: 1. Convert lawns into diverse natural habitats. 2. Grow native plants. 3. Reduce pesticide and herbicide use. 4. Limit use of exterior lighting. 5. Lessen soap runoff from washing vehicles and building exteriors, and reduce use of driveway sealants and de-icing salts. Increase awareness and appreciation of insects: 6. Counter negative perceptions of insects. 7. Become an educator, ambassador, and advocate for insect conservation. 8. Get involved in local politics, support science, and vote.

And yet mostly Kpop groups come up when you search for Billboard news articles with the specific "global group" tag. Not Fifth Harmony, not even Maroon 5 In fact the only Billboard article where a non-Kpop artist is labeled a global group is when Maluma and J Balvin called Black Eyed Peas (which has a Mexican-Ameican and a Filipino member) a global group in a Billboard interview.

Aren't Kpop groups called global groups by the US media because to them they're not a local group since they're not from the US? If it's based on targeting the international market the terms used would be: world-famous, world-class, international superstar, global sensation, etc. You don't see US articles calling Fifth Harmony a global group even though they had international hits and won awards in the UK and Japan.
