But how is that part inconsistent? The victim and Mingyu already reached a conclusion. And Pledis even had the consent of the victim before posting the apology

But I dont understand which part is inconsistent, thats why i objected you. Feel free to correct me, but i dont see any inconsistency in the whole statement. My oyhrt objection is you bringing a statement from 2017, saying its inconsistency, its illogical for me. Every company PR has their own style of statement, previous pledis statement about this issue was given on phone, while this one is written, ofc there will be differences between both.

Whether given on the phone or written, the same inconsistency in the hagwon incident and DWC-plagiarism incident stand out,
and that is Pledis denying that their accused artist is guilty but does the same things that a company of a guilty artist usually does
    - apologizing to the accuser ( hagwon incident) or making reparations to the accuser (including Coldplay + Chainsmoker songwriters in DWC credits)
    - not demanding an apology fr the accuser in both incidents even though the accusations were damaging to their artist's reputation
    - not suing the accusers for compensation even though the artist, and by extension the group were affected by those accusations
Also that article abt DWC plagiarism-gate was posted in 2017, and it's still up in Billboard to this day.
Since that time they were able to gain the US connections needed for Seventeen's US promotions and for the US leg of Seventeen's world tour.
And that was before they got acquired by Bighit/HYBE.
If Pledis really felt that their statement in that article was inaccurately reported, they could have easily reached out to Billboard to correct it via those connections.
But it's been more than 3 years since then, and so far they've done nothing.

    - allegations of misogynistic statements [x],
    - Falsely claimed he had COVID-19 as an April's Fool prank and said he was only trying to raise COVID-19 awareness as an excuse [x].
    Yoochun
    - initially denied allegations of drug use at a press conference and said he would retire if he failed the drug test
    - admitted to illegal drug use after he failed a drug test but retired for only a year before making a comeback  [x]
    - claimed that he came back from retirement so that he can get enough money to pay compensation to one of the women who accused him of sexual assault
but it turned out that he was still trying to avoid payment of compensation even after he resumed his career activities. [x]

Then if the OP admitted that the personal events are unrelated to him and that he didn't bully them where all that harassment accusations came from? In any case, I'm glad it seems to be clarified now.

The OP made multiple posts that talked about more than one incident

First post was abt an incident in Burim Middle School
    - where OP claimed they were being bullied physically and constantly harrassed in middle school
    - this was not translated from the very start bc it was clear that the OP was not referring to Mingyu
    - Pledis reaction: They confirmed fr OP that Mingyu is unrelated to this incident

2nd post was abt an incident in "S" (initial) hagwon aka (after school)
    - this is the post that got translated and spread in different versions bc altho it doesn't directly name Mingyu it heavily implies it's him
bc it talks about "a boy" from Burim Middle school who was  in the same grade as OP iand was in the same after school class as OP, and debuted as an idol later on.
    - OP claimed they were the only girl in the after school class and claimed "boy" made sexual jokes (like puns abt body hair) whenever OP was present.
-- "Boy" used to make those kind of jokes even with a teacher present
    - Teacher told "boy" to not make those kind of jokes bc a girl is present,
    - After the teacher's warning, "boy" stopped from making those jokes in front of teachers
    - But if there were no teachers present, "boy" still told those kind of jokes even when OP is present.
    - Boy also laughed at the drawings in the blackboard abt jokes of different types of body hair
    - OP also has other issues with boy (getting told to "stop acting out" whenever she tried to voice her opinion)
    - OP's reason for talking abt this incident with "boy" is because they saw posts defending "boy" from a previous incident (by a different OP not this OP)
and that brought up horrible memories of OP's time w/ boy in the hagwon.
    - OP's intention is not to get an apology but they want people to know what happened and that "boy" is "the type of person who would do these things in front of someone"
    - Pledis reaction:
-- Pledis says that Mingyu was just making jokes along with his male hagwon classmates but never bullied or tried to embarrass a specific student,
but he still offered a sincere apology to OP if OP felt uncomfortable or suffered abt his actions.
    - Pledis says OP accepted Mingyu's apology and that from the very first start of OP's conversation with Pledis, OP insisted that they don't want Mingyu to suspend his activities or withdraw from Seventeen.

Yeah best decision to close an issue is remind others of another one solved ages ago. I'm really side eyeing you for this.

Then keep side-eyeing bc unlike Mingyu and Pledis I'm not gonna say sorry for anything I've said if I've really feel I've said nothing wrong.
You can't really expect everyone -- whether they like Seventeen or not -- to not point out the inconsistencies in their company's official statement
and to not bring up previous history of them giving inconsistent statements.

  5. @Lee, while Soompi is reliable, their translation is still a bit buggy
ex: "We are informing you of additionally confirmed information" ,etc.
Here's the official English statement fr Pledis themselves

    From their twitlonger post [x]
    "Hello.
    This is PLEDIS Entertainment.

We would like to provide some additional information regarding an online post pertaining to when Mingyu, a member of SEVENTEEN was a student.

PLEDIS Entertainment had many conversations with the writer of the online post, which contained experiences at the after school class that the poster attended with the artist and ascertained additional facts of the issue. After going through this process, the artist and the poster agreed to resolve the misunderstandings and put the issue to rest.

The writer of the online post experienced a series of personal events unrelated to the artist while attending middle school and uploaded the post to make them known to the public. The post also included what happened during the after school classes at the time.

The artist said he did joke around with his male classmates at the after school class, but never bullied nor tried to embarrass any specific student. He did however, offer his sincere apologies if the poster, in any way, felt uncomfortable or suffered due to his actions.

The poster accepted the artist’s apology and insisted that the poster did not want the issue to lead to the suspension of the artist’s activity or the artist leaving the group from the very first conversation held with PLEDIS Entertainment.

We have shared this statement with the poster in advance and the poster confirmed and agreed to the release of the statement. We sincerely hope that the writer of the post does not experience further harm due to any disputes--big or small--over the issue.

We have contacted everyone involved in the post who could be identified and brought the conversation to a close. We are also currently looking into other matters which involve parties that are difficult to identify. We will provide an update with a separate notice on this issue at a later date"

  6. That cast poster accidentally provides an interesting glimpse of the YH idol hierarchy.
Cheng Xiao in the frontrow along w/ Han Geng Yibo and Wenhan
Meiqi and Xuanyi one row behind Cheng Xiao and the same row as Jihan and Hu Chunyang (even tho MeiXuan are also fr WJSN like Cheng Xiao and fr Rocket Girls as the Top1 and Top2 of Produce 101 China)
NEX7 in the farthest row  (even tho Zhengting and Justin are also fr Nine Percent as Top4 and Top6 of Idol Producer)
Yixuan Wenxuan and Xunlun nowhere to be found even tho they're the winners of All for One S1 and We Are Young (aka All For One S2)

    - Idol-turned-actress C is infamous for remodelling her face without a break. Since transforming as an actress, she's been going to her plastic clinic non-stop because she's never satisfied with her face. Because of this, C's cute, quirky face lost its charm. Those who haven't seen her in a while don't even recognize her. C's mother had enough and warned her, "If you get work done again, I'll disown you." It's a pity how nothing else can seem to help with her self-esteem. (Jan 21)
    >>> The references to cute and quirky makes me think that Knetz don't find her beautiful
    >>>   name prolly starts w/ S SS or Ch

    - Multi-entertainer D is an official homebody because when she doesn't have schedules, she never goes outside. Actually, it was found that even at home, she can never take a break because she's busy dating around. D is known for her thirst for men. D was burned by paparazzi once. Since then, she started having home dates only. She was seeing a singer E briefly. When E enlisted, she jumped onto an artist F right away. Shortly after, she switched to a hallyu star G. At this point, she's an "artist killer". Because of D's homebody life, D's actress friends who ate and drank non-stop with her gained too much weight and are struggling as well. (Jan 7)
    >>> This could be Dara bc she advised junior idols to date at home. There were rumors of her dating GD, altho both of them denied it. And CL and Bom's weight issues have been publicized before.

    - 'Icon of plastic surgery' female star B is pulling a James Bond to get plastic surgery. Despite numerous issues, B is known for her great singing talent. When she signed with her current agency, one of the terms on the contract was "no more plastic surgery". However, it's not easy to quit an addiction. At first B seemed to have stopped getting work done. But she got caught going to a plastic clinic by her agency. As a result her manager had to guard outside of B's home. But B wasn't about to give up that easily. B would invite a close friend to her place and pretend they're just hanging out. After that, she would call two taxis, she and her friend would ride each taxi, and have the manager following the wrong taxi. B's agency is worried about B's looks that are just getting worse and worse. (Oct 17, 2020)

    >>> prolly Bom bc of previous ps addiction rumors

    - Idol group F has promotions in various fields, but there are internal conflicts within the group. A member G, born in 1997, is the center of the conflict. G is in charge of brightness and energy in the group. G has many connections with other idol groups. Since a lot of 97'ers are actively promoting in the industry, G is busy expanding his/her connections. In the beginning of the year, G was invited to a group chat full of popular 97'ers and his/her affection for their group seems to have gone away. G would tell his/her members, "My friends are all doing well, what the hell is with you guys?" or "My group will flop except me." G should realize that they're nothing without their group. (Jul 31, 2020)
    >>> prolly idol group Fromis_9 member Gyuri

  8. Even real roads need regular paving to prevent damage from constant wear and tower.
Blackpink's figurative way was paved previously by Psy Bigbang and 2NE1
But that era has passed and now it's Blackpink who's doing the latest paving.

Does anyone know why the winners of the Tencent "Produce" versions pale in popularity to Iqiyi's "Produce" versions? Is Iqiyi way more popular as a platform or something?

I don't really follow Chinese entertainment closely, but I noticed the Weibo social numbers of the various male & female group members have a HUGE gap between the two platform's shows. Like Iqiyi's stars can easily get 500k - 1 million+ likes every time they post on Weibo, whereas the Tencent stars are around the 100k mark on average.

Lots of members in The9, esp  Esther and Xin Liu have pre-show popularity.
Xin Liu was a member of Ladybees and also a prev winner of a survival show just like Cai Xukun.
After QCYN2, she also won Masked Dancer of China many times, beating even Meng Meiqi of WJSN/Rocket Girls and Casper. which increased her popularity even further.

Esther has a v outgoing personality which makes her a fun guest in  in variety shows.
As for the two shows, I onl watched the perf clips so I ca'nt say for sure what make iQiyi just as popular in Weibo (if not more popular).
But from what I gathered in the qcyn2 subreddit, Youth with You 2 showed wholesome interactions  btw the girl trainees and showed the trainee's unique characteristics.

As for Chuang 2020, even fans admit that the show's long airtime (5+ hrs) and the rule change + the drama btw trainees turned off some of the viewers.
However they believe Bonbon Girls 303 will still be more popular than The9* in the long run because Tencent has the resources to book the girls in lots of individual/grp activities in TV, film and music**. (Tencent CEO is the 2nd richest man in China) .

i'm still in the process of watching all the vids so my picks haven't been finalized but i really like takatsuka hiromu and xu fengfan!

is kimura masaya known from anything?  he seems to consistently rank high on twitter and his videos have quite a few views as well

I liked Xu Fengfan's dance and I'm glad he's getting a lot of attention for it.
Masaya is a friend of JO1 Ren and he's also a backup dancer but I liked his Shine a light Vocal cover more than his Tsukame Dance.
His voice cracked a bit at some of the high notes but he still had a big smile on his face so I find it v refreshing.  😄

  11. PDJ S2 Trainees' Tsukame Dance vids are now in YT!
They're using Tsukame and not the new theme song bc the show hasn't technically started yet.
What aired just recently was the countdown vid.
Here's the vid with the highest viewcount so far

His name is Tajima Shogo and he's an ex-Johnny's Jr trainee/member
He left Johnny's in 2016, went to SK to train but came back in 2019. So he knows how to speak Kr.
And aside fr dancing he's also good at rapping (the rap in his Vocal vid was his original work)

  12. Thank you for creating the thread, OP!
Last season's official OH thread was a good source of up-to-date info and viewer feedback abt the show and the trainees!
so i'm looking forward to this thread too!

Trainee clips are already up in Gyao but they're not in YT yet.
And the Gyao vids are region-locked.
Found this spreadsheet from the PDJS2 discord that might help though.  [x]
    Source:  [x

There's also a PDJS2 reddit, weibo, douban, and bilibili too!
Plus at least 3 fansub teams (2 Eng, 1 CN).
So despite the region-lock, fans can still get tons of content.

I feel like he would be more interested in anything but acting lmao maybe that's why?? 🤣🤣 Honestly bring him a kitten and he would probably prefer that lol

True. I mean, if he really bought a Tesla, he (and prolly the rest of the members too) are prolly set enough to focus only on Seventeen without branching into acting or other individual activities.*
But he has so much potential though. Look at how well he was able to fool most of the members whenever he's the Mafia.
Call me delulu but I think he would fit in  shows with a blend of scifi/fantasy and surreal/dark dramedy like Umbrella Academy :superheroh:
