  1. This is what happens when Produce akgaes threaten to boycott their faves' non-Produce group ,  but the artists / their original companies don't want a Produce grp reunion bc either their share in the Produce profits is too small vs CJE&M's
OR they want to disassociate themselves from the Produce vote-rigging scandal.
It's not abt soloists becoming delulus in fact it's the opposite. It's them trying to make lemonade fr all the lemons that they got fr CJE&M, the toxic Produce stans, and their own company.

  2. (not sure if Google translate of that article [1] was accurate so checked a similar article done by a different reporter [2] and the Soompi article [3] for verification).
    - CL, who released 'SPICY' on Aug 24 as the first phase of her 'ALPHA' solo album project, said on Aug 30 that she signed the contract w/ Satellite414 to expand her activities from Korea and US to include Europe.
    - 'Satellite414' is a London, UK-based global entertainment PR agency that includes Simon Pegg (actor),  musicians Adele, Beyonce, Dua Lipa, Duran Duran, Halsey, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Zedd, and Normani, and MONSTA X. (note: interesting how the SK articles mention Simon Pegg and Duran Duran but not Halsey to MONSTA X while the Soompi article does the opposite)
    - Last June, CL was the first Korean musician to be featured in the cover of 032c, a fashion and art magazine in Berlin, Germany.
    - CL performing 'SPICY' in MCD, MB, and Show! is the first time after 2NE1's debut that CL has appeared on music shows back-to-back
    - Before 'SPICY', CL's last SK music show promo was 8 years ago (2013) for Bad Girl as a solo artist and 7 years ago (2014)  as part of 2NE1.
    - CL wrapped up "SPICY" promos in Inkigayo on Aug 29, and will release the second single from the 'ALPHA' project in September.

You're doing a pretty poor job of (re)interpreting what they said, which shouldn't even be necessary. "Of course he's white" is a pretty straightforward sentiment. This doesn't merely emphasize that he's white (why would you even need to emphasize such a thing?), it suggests that there was no other possibility, because only a white person would do such a thing. Such a suggestion is patently ridiculous and borderline racist, but it's also a dangerous assumption to make, as there are plenty of minority MAGA types. I've seen them all over. People clowning my post because they don't like to think about it won't make it any less true.

This entire post is a classic example of a strawman's argument

It is dangerous to assume MAGA has radicalized only white people, as I can assure you that's not the case.

But the poster only said was "ofc the guy was white".
That doesn't negate the existence of MAGA radicalized black/POC people,
it only emphasizes that MAGA radicalized white people DO exist.

  5. so many parallels between Pristin and Gfriend
Both coached trainees in Mnet's Idol School
Their ggs mysteriously cast aside while another Mnet gg survival show is about to be aired (Pristin dungeoned just before Produce 48 starts, Gfriend disbanded just before Girls Planet 999 and ILAND gg season starts) .
and their  labels/parent labels collaborating with CJ E&M to manage the winning gg (Pledis for OTR, Hybe for Belift).
    Coincidence or no? 🤔

I prefer if it's unintentional otherwise it's pure pettyness, and if it's how they run a company it is very fucked up and will be worse in future.

Probably not pure pettiness, because what is being done to Seventeen seems to be similar to what what was done to Gfriend,
with extra steps (bc idt Gfriend's JP album shipments/sales were delayed during their transition but cmiiw)
and it's hard to believe Hybe would be petty to Source Music given their professional ties that go way back.
It's more likely corporate strategy than anything personal, albeit it's the dark side of corporate strategy.
Anyway, as I've said before the only thing Carats can do is support Seventeen.
    So that whatever happens
-- whether they renew, start their own company when their contract ends, get sold to a third party before the end of their contract, or disband --
hopefully it happens in Seventeen's favor and not at Seventeen's expense.

Idk what to think because Daniel was rumored to be transferred to Pledis and the other two had instagram accounts the last time I checked.

The Pledis vp who was in charge of bgs is rumored to have left Pledis for Yuehua.
I'm starting to believe that rumor bc Yuehua recently registered a trademark for Tempest [x
Tempest was also a name of a Pledis trainee group slated for 2012/2013 debut but got cancelled.
2 of the members became part of Seventeen's leader line (S.Coups and Woozi).

edit: So i'm guessing Pledis new bg is going to be staying in the same dungeon as their new gg for now.

Don't make me laugh in 5 am I'm already trying to be silent 🗿 can't wait for svt succeeding and people saying it's because of Bang Si Hyuk

Don't have to wait for the chart, someone is saying it already.
Anyhoo, re Your Choice here's some additional info/theories from the tracklist thread in r/seventeen.

Personally i choose gat3x for the vocal unit track abbreviation, as a shoutout to Dino's Oh My Gat

  9. I'm now worried about the 175B won ( 85% of the 200B KRW loan) that Hybe (Big Hit Labels at that time) used to acquire Pledis.
And how that loan is going to impact Seventeen and the other Pledis artists.
Some people said that the loan was already settled using the profits from the BH IPO.
But since the latest report about Pledis debt of 29 billion KRW (25.7 million USD) [x] came out,
and since the rumors about Gfriend disbanding due to Source's poor finances came out,
now I'm wondering if what Hybe is doing is what vulture capitalists like Bain did to Toys R US. [x
Idk much about econ/finance, so i'm hoping my prediction is wrong.

Big Hit got a 200B KRW bank loan and used 175B to acquire an 85% stake in Pledis.
    (50% on May 30 2020 + 35% on June 09 2020). [x
That's quite a jump in price compared to CJ E&M's previous offer of 20-30B KRW for a 51% stake back in 2018.
Pledis' value was at 50 billion KRW back then. [x

I wish the acquisition was an act of saving Pledis from their sh*tty mismanagement of their own artists.
But it's more likely that Pledis thought its strategy of tough bargaining from January to May has paid off,
Considering the jump in purchase offer price and especially considering the change in tone of Pledis' statements
from brutal in January [x] to gushy in May 2020 [x].

And despite Pledis' shitty management, Big Hit apparently deemed it good enough to let it operate independently even after the acquisition.
BH even mentioned that they added the Pledis CEO to its "powerful lineup of creative leaders", while they never mentioned that about the Source Music CEO before. [x

  10. I wish Pledis demanded that the accuser make amends by at least having him volunteer for charity or sth.
Even tho it was not the worst accusation, it still did a lot of damage to Mingyu's rep,
and the accuser needs to do more than just a lame "sorry it was just a misunderstanding" excuse.

Still Pledis' newest statement is a lot better than the previous statement,
bc this time around they didn't have Mingyu apologize to the accuser when he didn't do anything wrong.

  11. Soojin is still a bit sus esp because of Seo Shin Ae spilling tea everytime Soojin denies the accusations.
and Seo Shin Ae never had a history of lying or being a bully as a student, just a false accusation abt owning cigarettes.
So SSA should either come forward and publicly reveal if Soojin was one of her bullies or not.

Also there were idols who've said they would resign/retire as idols if they were caught,
but only retired for a short period before making a comeback )ex: Yoochun)

But other than that what I liked abt her statement in contrast with the statements of other idols accused of bullying  is that hers was:
    - very detailed,
    - appears to be written by her directly and not via a rep (usage of first-person statements),
    - very consistent w/ her previous statement
    - points out the flaws in most of the accusations and stated that she has collected testimony which supports her side of the story.
    - and when she apologizes (phone fight, cigarette smoking accusations) she admits that what she did was wrong instead of saying she only apologized bc someone felt uncomfortable

    txt will... soon

    They will ... soon.
But the fact is TXT didn't get into Corden before Seventeen did despite them being directly managed by Bighit and not via a subsidiary.
And TXT was formed 2 years ago while Pledis only became a BH subsidiary just last year.
So TXT is a BH sunbae while Nuest and Seventeen are BH hoobaes,
And that's assuming the main groups and subsidiary groups are on the same tier.
edit: so in conclusion Seventeen got into Corden not thru BH connections but by their own achievements.

seventeen wouldn't get that james corden show without bighit

    I don't think that's true.
Otherwise all the other groups under Bighit and its subsidiaries should have gottten in Corden before Seventeen did.
especially the groups who joined BHL or were formed by BH before BH acquired Pledis
But nope, so far only BTS and Seventeen are the only BH/BHL groups who appeared in it.

  14. When Seungkwan auditioned for Pledis, he vowed to herald Pledis' second Golden Age
because Pledis' first golden age was After School and Son Dambi era.
They're the ones who built Pledis and the junior groups took it to the next level.

Look, unless it's wildly wrong, you can't sue a media company. At most you can ask for an apology and even that might not be granted. I study law, do you know how many cases the Sun won despite wildly changing the news? Suing a media company requires full wrongness, not even a slight difference should exist. For example let's say a magazine said I hit and spitted on you and that I am brutal. You can't sue magazine for this if I spit on you and slightly pushed you. Same with plagiarism, for plagiarism case to work you first have to wait for other side to sue you (or get expert opinion but this is so hard in creative works) , then win this case, then bring it to billboard. If billboard does not remove you then sue billboard but even then it's not fully confirmed you will win. It's such a huge process, rarely any company unless artist themselves insists on it, would sue for such thing. I understand you not knowing its entire legal procedure as, you should see its topic book it's damn huge, but plagiarism claims are always problematic. Even if you are fully right.

For DWC, producers at that time talked about how accidental plagiarism is a thing, and main responsibility lies with company to check any similarity. Producers unintentionally can produce same songs they heard somewhere thinking it's their own creation. Back then, this was also discussed heavily, and even then (I didn't study law back then) I learnt that's what makes opening a case against it is so hard.

If you have any question feel free to ask away btw. My legal knowledge relies heavily on UK, some US, some EU law, but about copyright law... I doubt Korea is any better than these countries.

Where in my previous post did I say that a media company should be sued?
I said Pledis didn't sue the accusers of Mingyu's hagwon incident and in DWC plagiarism-gate.
The only media company that I referenced in that post is Billboard, and they weren't the accusers -- they were the reporters of the DWC-plagiarism-gate.
Also if it's "really hard for any plagiarism case to work", then Pledis wouldn't need to worry about their artists going to trial over plagiarism accusations,
But Pledis did worry, and it was reportedly their reason for including Coldplay + Chainsmokers in the DWC song credits.
