HYBE is complicit with journalist harassment if they won't even bother to make a comment to discourage the accounts harassing that reporter on their + their artists' behalf. Them not removing Bobby Chung's contribution on BTS' songs while he's still on trial is nagl too especially when they can release a remix w/o his contributions They even removed Bird from BTS JP album because the lyricist/producer was Aki-P who was rumored to espouse JP-imperialist views and write misogynistic lyrics. And Aki-P didn't even go on trial [source] Also, the journalist says that someone even impersonated her twitter account and her work company's account [source] Lastly news like these make me pray even more that groups in HYBE's other subsidiaries can freely work and promote their songs w/o HYBE/Bighit/BTS songwriters, producers, management and staff interfering on their decisions. Especially groups who have pride and recognition in being a self-produced group.

So YG allows covers of 2NE1 songs on tv shows like Mix & Match, Mixnine, My Teenage Girl and Mama the Idol, allows (if not actively initiates) media coverage about YG groups/ex-trainees considered as "Future 2NE1" "2NE1 successors" "2NE1 replacements" but when all members reunite to perform it once on an overseas festival it has to be top-secret? Like i've always ranted abt how YG was so possessive that the chances of a non-YG group's debut/comeback is almost zero if one of the members is a YG trainee or a transferee. But this Coachella issue takes it to a whole new level. Also i disagree with comment #1 YG had 2 ggs before 2NE1 - SwiT and Big Mama, and yet it was only 2NE1 who became the 1st YG gg to achieve mainstream popularity, even considered as rivals of the top gg at the time Girls Generation at one point. If 2NE1 didn't have all those music show wins, the rookie of the year award, and a daesang, YG would have stayed as a one-hit-wonder company known for mostly for Bigbang and some rnb/hiphop artists until Psy's Gangnam style became a global hit So saying that 2NE1 owes their name "all to YG" without acknowledging the members contribution is just hyperbole bordering on misinfo.

I've erased >redacted< from my memory and replaced it w/ Blue Flame as the debut title track love how they sound esp my Yunjin when the autotune is minimized, even if it's the studio ver And everyone aced this performance even the ones who've never debuted before.
-
Wish there was less of that mumble talk/singing in the verses. Yunjin slayed in the few vocal lines of that song tho. It could have been better but I'm not gonna be too hard on them since it's just their debut, plus they're under a lot of pressure as the first Hybe-produced gg. But they should adjust some of their concepts a bit to suit the minors in that group.

Hybe are fcking sick for making a 06 liner do this choreo
namidaone replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
My yunjin didn't train all these years in the Pledis dungeon to debut in HYBE/SouMu's idea of Glam 2.0, even if she's not a minor. -
Wishing Chihoon better opportunities than that which he got in TOO/TO1. Wishing the members who stayed get better management. And it looks like preparations for BP999 are underway since this is kinda what happened with IN2IT when Produce X was being prepared. Or it could be a new season of Produce Boys ver because new Produce trademarks were reportedly filed in March this year. So I wouldn't be surprised if Chihoon or a still-active TO1 member joins the show like how Kim Sunghyun joined PDX.

For Gfriend, maybe they didn't have enough fandom representation in the US to stage a big concert -- (because the number of Buddies in Kcon NY fancams are too small to be noticed fr the crowd but even if you can't see them you can definitely hear them XD ) -- but the reception that Gfriend got in Toronto Kpop Con 2016 was a sign of their NA potential. According to Billboard and Buddy posts on r/gfriend, hundreds of Buddies were singing along to their songs and shouting encouragement to the members during the ment, esp to Umji.[source] [source] They also loved it when they sang cover songs live esp Yuju/Eunha's Dear Future Husband. Billboard even rated their S Club 7 cover and their Rough Performance as 2 out of 5 memorable performances of Toronto Kpop Con 2016 . Maybe if Source Music + HYBE* had built on that momentum, and aside fr Kpop conventions they also let Gfriend do solo mini-concerts in NA with cheaper tickets, then they could have attracted more NA multistans with their good live singing and dance skills and maybe even grow their NA fandom slowly but surely. Sadly Gfriend lost the momentum when Source Music focused on Asian promotions instead and HYBE didn't fulfill their promise of giving GFriend overseas promo*. As for Viviz, looks like Beam of Prism charting 1st in Worldwide Itunes and top 10 in US Itunes was the proof that BPM needed abt their NA potential. Hope that unlike Source Music and Hybe*, BPM won't drop the ball on this.

Some performers were caught lipsyncing or had audio issues in their Coachella stages this year (BIBI, Jackson, etc) but they still pulled it off thanks to either set production, good band/backup singers/dancers, stage presence, or crowd interaction. So as long as aespa's Coachella is better than the trainwreck that was their Macy's Parade stage, then this will be a huge win for them. Also, aespa is apparently the first kpop gg invited to perform at the Main stage, so they're already making history.

2NE1 CL barely danced during her set so i thought her dance skills rusted. But she revved up during the I Am The Best dance break. Minzy dance skills is still as flawless as ever. Dara's hair looks more like Empire State Building than Palm tree but her charisma is still as fiery as before Bom is still Bom

This 3M won (less than 3k USD) is just the penalty fine, not the compensation amount. The personal info leak of 22 Buddy accounts in the Google form for the Weverse shop refund of the Gfriemd fan membership happened for only 9 minutes. Also SouMu self-reported the leak to the PIPC once they received word of it, which would explain why they received a smaller penalty than they would have if the victims reported it to the PIPC first. Re the compensation amount, Source Music is rumored to have offered the victims around 100k won (90 USD). But this is a rumor that came out before the PIPC decision was released, So it's not certain if the compensation would be increased/decreased now that the decision is out -- or if it even existed in the first place. == Exactly. If the 22 victims of the private info leak wish to sue for compensation then they can use the PIPC finding to bolster their case. Aside from the personal info leak, Buddies have many other complaints, not just against SouMu, but against Weverse too. TLDR: Weverse intl transfer fee reaching almost same price (80%) as the refund amt in some cases, Weverse offering shop points instead of bank transfer/paypal as refund for intl Buddies w/ non-USD currency bank accounts, Buddies demanding response re cancelled Gfriend fansign, etc. Basically, the PIPC decision is not the end of Buddies fight for compensation vs Source Music, Weverse, and HYBE, just the beginning.

[PC][theqoo] WILL SMITH AND CHRIS ROCK'S OSCAR'S FEUD DUMP
namidaone replied to Dramagoddess's topic in Netizen Nation
I myself had cancer-stricken relatives (incl my own mom) who experienced insensitive comments ranging fr "jokes" abt their weight and/or hair loss fr chemo (one uncle "complimented" one of my cancer-stricken aunts saying she looked better now that she's skinny) to direct insults. So I find Will Smith's emotional reaction to be relatable. It was still wrong of him to slap Chris Rock, and Chris Rock has the right to accept or reject Will's apology. But WS has every right to stop smiling and express his anger when he saw how Jada seemed hurt from Chris Rock's joke. But he should have expressed it thru non-violent means only. As for Chris Rock, I hope he gets the hint of how insensitive his "joke" was when Denzel and Tyler approached Will Smith to console him first and not him after the slap. -
Seems like some staff sold 5 slots instead of entering them in a raffle and made up fake IZ*ONE accounts and contact info Whoever did the verification of the fansign winners (either Starship/the Everline ticketing shop/both) were really lazy/incompetent at it or really complicit w/ fraud + identity theft. If Starship is really involved then it looks like they haven't reformed even after their CEO and VP were found guilty in the Produce vote-rigging scandal.

You brought up Epic being a subsidiary of Sony in response to my post abt JYP working w/ diff companies to promote their artists. What I'm saying is that even if we don't include Epic in the discussion, Warner and Sony are still 2 different companies, so my statement abt JYPE working with different companies to promote their artists in JP still stands. You'll have to find sth better than subsidiaries or the fave ex-Sony Warner exec to disprove my statement entirely. Where did I say CJ ENM might partner with Johnny? I only brought up Johnny and Vernalossom in my previous post as examples of companies who even have multiple subsidiaries partnering with different companies. You nitpicking Vernalossom as not a big company (lol) just because Johnny or Yoshimoto is bigger, doesnt weaken my statement at all. Rather it proves my point even further because it shows that a JP company doesn't have to be big to switch partners w/o suffering backlash fr their previous partners. P.S loool only kpop fans commonly refer to SMEJ as SM Entertainment Japan. Meanwhile this is what's in Sony Music Entertainment Japan's own corporate profile [link] Even Billboard articles and posts in r/jpop refer to SMEJ as Sony Music Entertainment (Japan)

FNC JP debuted gg PRIKIL via a survival show called "WHO IS PRINCESS" which aired in NTV. It ended a few months ago so you might have already watched it, but if you haven't you can still watch all the official eng sub eps in platforms like iqiyi. [x] So? They still signed contracts w/ different companies. Last time i checked Warner Japan is not a SMEJ subsidiary or vice versa.. And SMEJ >> Warner Japan. Whoever this ex-Sony currently Warner exec is, his influence in the Jpop industry -- while considerable enough for JYPE to sign Twice with since 2017 -- is still no match with the SMEJ CEO's, otherwise JYP would have partnered w/ Warner JP again and not Sony for NiziU. Johnny & Associates reigning for ages and yet CJENM still partnered with Yoshimoto Kogyo to manage not one but two Japanese boygroups. If you really think that CJENM convinced Yoshimoto Kogyo to partner with them due to Produce 101's impact alone -- on the very same year that news of the Mnet Produce vote rigging scandal reached Japanese media -- without CJ E&M throwing YK lots of money, then I should be the one asking you abt what you're smoking. We're talking abt big enough to partner with nugu CJENM in Japan here. And CJENM did partner with Vernalossom (AKS at the time) for IZ*ONE JP promos. Considering that Vernalossom is now focused on managing only international sister groups of AKB48 from now on, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumored Produce 101 revival is a new season of Produce 48.

Korean companies rarely switch Japanese partners for a specific artist/group, but some do hire a different partner for their next one. JYPE is a major example of that (Warner for Twice, Epic for Stray Kids, Sony Music for Niziu) As for creating more than 1 subsidiary/franchise in Japan with a different JP partner, cmiiw but afaik only big JP companies do it -- like Johnny & Associates and Vernalossom. CJ E&M may be small fry in Japan unlike in SK, but if they really want to create a new subsidiary w/ a different partner (like what they did back in SK), they can prolly make up for the lack of clout by throwing more money esp now since a lot of JP ent companies lost huge profits fr reduced physical sales and in-person events during the pandemic. I'm just skeptical abt the theory that Produce 101 trademark filed in in SK means CJ E&M collabing w/ YK or another JP ent co for PD101J3" bc JP media would have already reported it, JP trademarks would have been registered, etc. It's much too premature speculate on that possibility imo.
-
Idt it's Produce 101 JP S3 bc if it was then it should show up in the PlatPAt as either under CJENM, CJENM Japan, or under Lapone (CJE&M and Yoshimoto Kogyo subsidiary). Also there would have been news articles abt a Japan PD S3 by now. It's more likely a revival of the KR produce since it was filed in Korea and if not that, then Produce 101 Latin America [x]

And yet After School is scrubbed out in the twt bio just like Nu'est and all the other Pledis artists, disbanded, in hiatus, or active. That's a very strange way of showing that they're keeping a door open imo == Anyhoo i find it interesting that after the twt bio update the delulus who kept saying that the disbandment was the members / Pledis decision were suddenly quiet. Because how can you assign blame to a company who no longer claims to directly manage their own sns?
