It's been a while since my last visit to this thread. As I posted already in the main thread, I want to step down from the position as an OP of this thread. If there is anybody willing to take over the OP position, you are really welcome! Just let me know and we will arrange it with the mod.

The reason for me to step down is NOT because I am quitting the fandom. I still love VIXX, especially Ravi, with all of my heart. The reason is because of my health. As a result, I cannot do a lot of work besides my regular job, which is very demanding already to my body, and I cannot be as active in OH as I used to a year ago before my problem arose.

So, if anyone of you is enthusiastic with this thread great again, making it up-to-date and showing a lot of love for him in the thread, I will be very happy to pass the OP to you! Although you might need to show some proofs to convince me how much you love him so I can hand over the OP position to you at ease 

Please consider this and let me know if anyone is interested.

I feel pretty stupid, can someone explain Ravi's mixtape releases? lmao. I was confused as to why Rebirth was being re-released, so I went to wiki and it showed this:

 

I thought Rebirth had already been released, sans a few never songs. Is it like finalized now or something and for sale? Also, Nirvana, I assume this is a completely new mixtape that will be released, right? 

 

As StanSatan explained... R.ebirth was a mixtape album and Jelpi decided to officially release it as a digital album. Then we have some new songs added in the mix.

Alright guys, I am back again with the hopes of a good OH discussion. Today's topic is...

 

  Why is Vixx not popular enough? 

 

They should be really popular because:

 

1) They have everything a boygroup needs to have fans: Voice, visuals, dancers, stage presence, personality and dorkiness

2) They have some of the best stages in K-Pop and so this kind of hype should have happened years ago, maybe during Voodoo doll era. 

 

Why they aren't popular:

 

1) Not from a big idol company so they didn't have that initial advantage (not very convinced myself and Jelpi is a great company)

2) Jellyfish hates media playing. (And that should be the way IMO)

3) Produces non-mainstream music af. I was taken aback by Fantasy and The Closer. They sounded like something I've never heard before. Hates sticking to trends.Love Equation made them popular enough to the general public but they didn't take advantage of the situation and took a 9 month break before releasing another new type of sound - Chained Up, a risky move with a risky concept. 

4) By looking at the number of opportunities they have missed, it doesn't look like they want to be popular. 

5) They don't do stuff that pulls fans in like aegyo and whatever the trend is right now.

 

What do most comments say in vixx videos:

 

"I am not a stan/I am a fan of another group, but I love vixx and their stages and *insert 100 other things vixx is good at*."

 

What do I think the public thinks about vixx:

 

We are not worthy enough to be fans of vixx. (I really think that's the case, I don't see any other explanation)

 

 

Please add your thoughts and hopefully my large post won't flop, so that I can be motivated to have meaningful discussions later also.

I personally think that their problem lies in The Conception project. Before that, VIXX was in their linear phase. Popularity was growing steadily, until they were doing The Conception project. It's too much. 4 KR releases (3 promoted), 1 concert, 2 JP releases, and some international schedules on top of members branching out to their respective individual activities. They did too much in 2016 that some of the release looks half-assed and incomplete. Not to mention ISAC injury. Members were exhausted. Fans were exhausted too, to the point that they cannot support the album sales anymore. Exhaustion makes it easy to get irritated and it's possible they also couldn't really put their heart into promoting leads to bad performances. 2016 started good but ended up badly, to my opinion.

This year is really their recovery year. They started out badly but they end up well. I hope that 2018 will be the year where they are back on track, in the linear phase of popularity growth, since this year is the last year for Neo. If they didn't suffer in 2016, I think they would be on par with the current top BG in KR right now.

But TBH, VIXX popularity is ok. They can be more popular, but I'd rather they are not. Maybe a bit more than this but not much more. They are currently in a good popularity range. They are popular enough not to be a complete nugu, but not extremely popular that will be the first one to be shot down everytime the letter I of Idol is mentioned. The popularity pays their bills but not that extreme that they would not be able to enjoy vacation without being followed by thousands of sasaengs.

In other words, I am happy if they get that public recognition. I am happy if they can be much more popular than they are now. But I am not happy if they get the popularity overnight. It scares me.
