  1. I'm sure when it comes to visual and talent - Cube, Pledis and then JYP are the best in Kpop.

I miss OT5 Winner - I really loved Exit:E and I'm not liking the way the musical direction is going nowadays. Especially, the soulful, emotional lyrics are just not there. Also, Seungyoon has lost his unique vocal temperament. Ugh, I'm just sad...warstarplz.png

Most legend-level kpop groups only have one huge i.e. national hit. If this was UK/US pop industries they would be called One-hit wonders. I am tired of the hyperbole where fandom-powered 'hits' are counted on as being actually popular.

  2. Mukbangs are horrible.

I know it is a different culture so manners differ, but...they eat excessively and don't even seem to chew properly, shoving food deep near the throat, and they double-dip with same chopsticks into shared pots and bowls, and they don't close their mouths and keep on talking so you can see half-mushed food... I avoid any clip where it feels like K-idols may eat, but if I accidentally see any gif while scrolling I feel like like vomiting.

  3. Please for the sake of everything good, put your fan-scenarios/fanfics/fanarts with a fan-tag, and not into the group or artist tag on twitter/tumblr etc. Like, there is wattpad, asianfanfic, etc. what other site I don't know - keep the NC-!7 sexuality filled stuff there! I absolutely also hate when people write sexual phrases in praise of their bias, like "Sit on my face, queen!"

Just keep that shit away! I am not against other people being sexual, but for the sake of people like me - who do not want to see any of these vulgar stuff - please let them not be found in common search tags, please! I just want to see cute pics, gifs and get news!

[Also, since many idols nowadays read english esp. foreigners like Sorn, Felix, Rose. Just think that maybe they are also seeing your nasty, gross imaginations about them! Think how would you like if random unknowns on the internet made nude morphs of your face or wrote sexual thoughts about you! So, please hide your stuff behind specific tags or sites!]

  4. New generation stans are probably the worst at infantalizing and woobifying idols. This doesn't just exist in areas like racist caricatures by idols where their deliberate assholery is handwaved away by "Korea has no english literacy and obviously no internet", but especially when it comes to shipping and resulting fanworks. First, most countries around the world have either 16 or 18 as age of consent, yes, it is 18 for the American citizens and 16 for the Aussie ones, and for those concerned about Korean prudishness - it is 13 effectively in South Korea!!! TBH, I think the 'don't sexualize idols' cult should rather lay off witch-hunting kids who write fanfic for newgen groups like StrayKids in some obscure tumblr (after all - "no idol knows english and never uses anything but naver/nate") and concentrate on the terrible child abuse implied in the kind of punishing routines and diets that are imposed by companies on groups nowadays - eg. Vlives at random night hours, schoolgoing idols always sleeping in class, fainting during practice, performing with illnesses severe enough to require hospital visits etc.

  5. 1. I don't think it makes sense to pre-order any album without hearing the tracks first. Would you buy costly electronics, food, clothes, jewellery or anything without firsthand experience or at least getting good reviews? Then why so for music?!

    2. I don't care about variety/growth/concept change etc. for groups. Indeed, if a group makes a drastic change in style of music I stop being a fan.

    3. I don't understand why people are 'ride or die' stans. If your bias group changes what made you like them eg. genre of music or becomes criminals eg. Chris Brown why must you still be a fan?

    4. People who repeatedly go to multiple stops of the same concert/people who go to concerts when there are no new songs and they have already been to a similar one recently --- they give me insane groupie type vibes. Like, why would you waste your money like this when you're not getting anything new worthy of the price paid?

  6. I know that I-netz and K-netz both talk about how fans should respect Korea's preferences and likes BUT - I am into K-ent just for fun and because I liked some stuff. Just because I think Misaeng or Kill Me Heal Me or Signal was pretty good doesn't mean I cannot criticise the gendered violence in Boys over Flowers or Heirs. Or for that matter, the coffeshop/Indie type of music that gets all-kills just isn't my thing and I won't dl or buy that stuff.

What is making me increasingly dip out of fandom is how nowadays stanning seems more like a cult - the hypocrisy and stupidity and pure lack of education combined with bully behaviour - I think a good chunk of twitter fangirls at least would never become adjusted or productive members of society. Also like, if you say a gg plagiarized you're supposedly a misogynist, at the same time these 'gg supremacists' praise the highly sexualized clothes and lyrics (male produced) underage girls promote just because that is a girl-crush concept.

  7. I am glad that after an intervening period kpop companies are again debuting not-exactly-visual members. I mean look at Jooe, she dragged Momoland out of obscurity because she had kkap dancing ability. Also, in that context, YG deserves credit - through the years he had fearlessly debuted very short, quite old, un-pretty members and they had proved themselves as successful idols. Ultimately, the idol business is about charm and hustle - about people who want it desperately, and this culture of denigrating any K-celeb even the least bit less-than-average looking by fans was both stupid and horrible.

  8. I hope the plagiarism issue about Momoland blows up. Not because I hate them or anything, but because I'm tired of people in kpop just getting away year after year stealing beats, chord progressions, arrangements, full instrumentals and profiting with other people's work. It has just been too many times, and by veteran, respected producers one after another. Like, I want this to year to be the year of appreciation and rewarding of hardwork. And punishment for the abovementioned thieves.

And, seriously, the nugu support brigade, and those who defend just because its their bias - really?! Here you guys constantly pontificate around "Justice for xyz" and "Stan talent stan xyz" - and you're happy about the real creators being stiffed out of fair credit and payment?!

But then, I know most i-kpop fans don't even support their bias group by melon streaming or album buying, preferring k2blog. Hypocrites.

  9. This generation, and I'm talking about my peers and youngers are rigid ostriches who refuse to study theory or history, listen to others' concerns or even think they can and should change their mind if they think they've been wrong. The sns generation - both left and right - behave like a cult, they're absolutely brainwashed into and terrified of leaving. Now, all I see is toddlers throwing tantrums via memes. The deliberate Americanization of liberal discourse is awful - there are people who almost worship Hillary, and hang onto validation by NYT. And then we have Brown conservatives calling people cucks and worshipping monsters like Churchill for being cool. There's idiot newly converted communists who think Stalin and Mao were swell guys. Like eg. this dude who is all 'fuck da police' just posted that he trusts the justice system - like the judges are non-racial, bi-gendered aliens or what so that they're free of bias?

The generation now cannot build an argument to save their life, are ignorant that theories and their application in reality can show drastically unexpected results, blithely dehumanize entire swathes of people while screaming intertextuality.

In common terms, keyboard warriors are the freaking definition of mansplainers - they have found all the problems with what someone else built but proposing one working solution is too much for them.

  10. I respect and admire Seungcheol a lot. What I really like about him is how perceptive, considerate and comforting he is - he rarely shows off airs, or uses the hyung advantage, or doesn't accept the joking made against him. He just keeps the entire group functioning as a close unit, smoothing out hitches while treating ever member as an adult individual, but when required he is there to baby the young'uns.

    Happy birthday gorgeous leader-ssi!

  11. I think you meant iKon ? Or I did not understand what you mean (you like Winner, so you watched WIN and watched M&M because Team B was in it and fell in love with HS?)

Sent from my SM-G920F using OneHallyu mobile app

No, I meant Winner. What happened is I liked Seungyoon a bit, so then I watched WIN, and chose to stan Winner (I biased NTH) but also really liked Yunhyeong. It is because of Yunhyeong that I checked M&M and fell for Hongseok (and Jinhyeong too).

  12. I want to do it too!

  13. I hope that Cube sends them to something like Weekly Idol again. Also, how nice it would be if they could go on One Fine Day? I can already imagine...wish it is somewhere in Mongolia or Vietnam, with great food but still a lot of pretty scenery.

  14. Honestly, I used to feel the same way about Jinho not being in Exo (he would've made it so big), but I feel like they ended up where they belong with Pentagon, you know? The members always say Pentagon isn't whole without all 10 members, and I feel like Jinho and Hongseok are very happy where they are now. What's Pentagon without tentagon, their Hongmom, or their tiny hyung?

When Jino wasn't announced with EXO I thought that with his talent he was going to debut solo. That SM let him leave was a total shock to me - that someone of his vocal talent wouldn't debut!!! Then I found his photos with Hongseok and they looked happy, at peace. Since I liked them both and wanted to see what comes I got into Pentagon and they fit into Pentagon much better than I think they would have in Ikon or EXO. Tentagon is just perfect as they are. All 10 belong there. Like I do not want to even imagine what may have been otherwise.

  15. Aww, it's good to see Hongseok interacting with Ikon! Hopefully now Ikon fans will stop being salty...

On another note, I'm focused on Changgu. He's so adorable staring off into space and dancing! I adore him :(

I was initially so mad about Hongseok not getting into Ikon, but now I am so thankful because it brought him (and me!) to Pentagon.

Also, Yunhyeong is such an adorable sweetheart!

  16. I don't get the praise for the sort of talented-in-Kpop singers like Hyorin or Jonghyun and many others. They strain horribly even in recorded album songs and they lack markers required for one to cross year3 in my area of classical music degree. Yes it is just pop and Sistar and Shinee songs aren't opera but I cannot call them good singers. I really like Jonghyun and his composing, but...I can call them competent enough for their jobs as idols and just that.

There are only about 5 songs from Bigbang and members' entire repertoire that I like - the last being Loser and ENL. Their hiphop stuff especially is so not good at all to me. I cannot imagine anyone who has ever known NWA/Nas/Tupac etc. to take their stuff seriously.
