Which male idols do you think are gay?
baekjoong replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
The fact that people are going to extremes (the entire trip was fanservice, orchestrated by the company) to make their point, and in turn invalidate any kind of friendship these two might have is hilarious. Every member was on vacation at that time. This wasn't "fanservice". Ah well, I'm out of this discussion. I've said what I want to say, and I stand by it. There is no reasoning with some of you guys. smh -

Ya, typical married couple behavior, down to the bickering about money and sharing it. Korea is just too scared to admit it. -

I was gonna reply to you, and then I forgot. Ugh, I hate when I do that. You can't get into Sechskies without getting all the tea about Tony and Jaeduck. I came to that conclusion last week. Every talk show or variety show or radio show they go to, they talk about these two. And every time, you hear something new. Let me list some from my memory. 1. Tony is very busy, but whenever he has free time, he comes and sees Jaeduck (I guess at his workplace?). Tony has a lot of friends so this kind of attachment to one of those friends is not "normal". Also, Tony drops him off and picks him up whenever he can. 2. He came to their concert. In Eun Jiwon's words "A H.O.T member coming to a Jekki concert is unimaginable, but he came to make Jaeduck feel better". https://ondramanice.io/radio-star/watch-radio-star-episode-503-online From 48:50 onwards. Lots of tea :P 3. Apparently, Tony didn't pay for the remodeling. Jaeduck did. Tony confirmed this once in the Mom's diary show (episode 43, if I remember right), when he was showing Heechul and that other comedian around. They asked if they spent all their money on the remodeling and he said "Jaedukie spent all the money he earned from promoting with Jekki". Also, Jiwon and Suwon said the same in a radio show. That Jaeduck recently spent all his money on "interior design" and he's now penniless. Lol. Keeping in mind that Tony bought that house around 5 years ago, the fact that his "friend" spent a LOT (I don't even want to think about how much those stuff cost them) of money remodeling his friend's house...yeah, you get my point. I think this was the point Jiwon finally realized these two are together. You should have seen how he was in that radio show. Like he finally gets it lol. Whenever I watch their earlier shows, I always felt like the other 3 knew but Jiwon didn't. 4. Kangta's starry night was a MESS. Tony got jealous (or angry) when Jaeduck said he and Jaejin used to go on drives with Woohyuk. etc etc. They talk about how Tony was so adamant about not living separately. They concluded that these two just can't be separated. At the start, Tony said he came to take Jaeduck back home. As I said, it was a mess. Watch 58:39, 1:12:50 and 1:15:19 (highlight of the episode lol). What gets me is, these 2 are so stubborn. They get a LOT of flack from their friends (they show their disapproval in every single show). Man if it was me, I'd either cut the relationship or cut the friendships. These guys are strong. But my guess is they have a different "closer" friend circle that does not include the celebrity friends we see them with. Their lawyer friend, for example. 5. They have a lot more skinship than they let on. Tony tends to censor Jaeduck whenever he gets too handsy in front of the camera, even if its as simple as holding hands or touching is thighs. I've seen that happen too many times to count, even in that Handsome men of 20th century show and that was back in 2014. Guess he's the voice of reason in the relationship. 6. Jaeduck's room is visibly bigger and spacious than Tony's. It even had/has a wardrobe. They showed it (before remodeling) in a dog show, I think. And now apparently he turned their 3rd bedroom (where their lawyer friend was freeloading in) into his closet or something. So yeah, I take back what I said about them not sharing a room. It could very well be a smokescreen lol. Coz the owner of the house usually gets the bigger bedroom and all the perks (turning your third bedroom into a closet, for instance). Lot of wasted room, in my opinion. But hey, whatever floats their boat. 7. They raise dogs together. Do we need any more proof. Let me end it here coz I don't like the number 8. :P As for his mom, well... she's still a Korean mom, and she's from a different generation, so she might never completely let go of the idea that they should get married and have kids. But hey, at least she acknowledges that they care about each other. I think they don't expect more than that. The lawyer was a freeloader, yes. He stayed with them briefly and was even messier than Tony. He finally moved out though. Ya, as I told before, the only time I'll spend money on custom furniture or decoration of any kind is when I settle into my permanent abode (with my kids and husband). Coz I found out the hard way that custom remodeling or interior design of a higher caliber costs almost as much as what it costs to buy an apartment in the city. So yeah, Jaeduck probably spent a crazy amount on that remodeling job. Everything was carefully designed and built. I wrote this before - I'm not so sure if they don't share bedrooms anymore. We only see what they show. Then again, having separate bedrooms is becoming more of a norm, like you said. They aren't young, so it probably doesn't matter to them. Though they aren't THAT old yet either. These two will probably continue to deny the idea of living separately vehemently (Jaeduck seemed more stubborn in his denials in the recent videos, Tony has always been stubborn) until they are out of the spotlight, while still throwing phrases about wanting to get married, how they'll be neighbors once they are married, etc. Smokescreens. It's kind of uplifting to see their determination and guts though. -

Ya, I've always been back and forth on this. They've had suspicious "moments", but nothing concrete for me to back them up in this thread or elsewhere. Coz talking about possible relationships/attractions in kpop is always a slippery slope where you tend to get pulled into pointless arguments with hormonal teenagers who don't know any better. Look at me typing essays in this thread and all. That's one example of how things are. Not to mention I've always HATED fanservice, or any kind of "fake" reaction. I'm not here for that. That's one of the reasons I can't completely get into some groups that are known for fanservice. Kpop is my stress reliever. I don't want it to add to my real world's stress lol. Yup, no matter how people try to spin it, this video shows me that Jungkook is NOT straight. Whether he's gay/bi is still up for debate, but he's not straight. And BTS just might be the only group with enough guts to not live a fake life, but then again, who knows. All of that aside, did anyone see Jimin in "Take care of my refrigerator". He was so receptive to the "gay couple" on the show lol. He was interested in their house, he reacted well to every cheesy thing they said. I saw Jin shocked (or not being able to control his emotions) in certain instances, but Jimin was so open minded. He accepted everything. Looks like he finally accepted himself. -

Yup. Haha, gay agenda. You make him sound so...manipulative lol. I don't know if there was an agenda. There could be, or not. But he does ping, A LOT, and I wouldn't be surprised if he purposefully chose LGBT teens to be in his group coz, you know, they're his people and he wants to give them a chance. Happens a lot. So if he did, shows why these guys are so open about everything (from recommending gay songs, mvs to talking about same love). They know their CEO supports them. -

Nothing wrong with having different thoughts. That's why I said I don't actually know if they are together, but I THINK they are suspicious, just like you think they are not. But when you try to brush off the whole thing as "media play", it makes me think if you are trying too hard. That's all. But yeah, let's just agree to disagree without disregarding friendships (or the possibility of relationships), shall we? -

I agree with one of the previous posters. Remove your shipper glasses. Jikook AND Vkook shipper glasses! Real life is much more than ships. Just coz you want something to be real (coz they look good together, of all things), it's not going to happen. These are real people with real feelings, preferences etc. So let's not argue for or against something too much. This video was suspicious for a 25 year old woman (me) who's been in relationships, knows what crushes look like and knows what media play is. This is the opposite of media play. They weren't followed by a crew. They were covered from head to toe (in every freaking clip). They posted videos on Youtube and Twitter (how much more unprofessional can it get?) and none on their official channels. This was 2 young guys sharing their trip with their followers, nothing more than that. Let's not analyze too much about it. Remove your shipper goggles, and you'll notice that this was suspicious, just like V's trip with Bogum was suspicious. If you were gay in a homophobic society, you would behave EXACTLY like these two "couples" behave. Hide under the umbrella of friendship. I've done that (though we weren't together) and I've seen 2 guys in my year do that. We both had "rumors" but no one in such a society would have the guts to say more than a joking "hey, why are you guys always together? Are you together or something? There are rumors about you around campus, you know? Hehehehe". So don't place everything under the Friendship umbrella coz some of the most intense friendships (to the outside eye) could have an even intense attraction hidden behind it. Take Tony and Jaeduck for example. Those guys have been suspicious and quite obvious (in my opinion, and in the opinion of many) for close to 8 years now. They raise dogs together, they spent money on their house together (Tony bought it, Jaeduck remodeled and decorated it), they talk about wanting to get an even bigger house with a yard and 5 dogs, and people STILL treat it (and them) as a joke. They try their level best to brush off everything they do as friendship. That's what happens in homogeneous societies where EVERYONE thinks the same. There is no diversity like in the west. There is no exposure to things beyond what they already know (a guy and girl being together). And even if there is, they are not willing to acknowledge it because they are terrified (you read that right) of their parents and society, so even if they suspect one of their friends are together, they'll brush it under the rugs. And that's what you see happening in the comments under this video. A few shipping comments from excited Jikookers and whining Vkookers aside (which are disregarded as delusional fantasies), everyone else is posting about either JK's editing skills or JM being cute and how they feel like they are on a date with him. That's the MAINSTREAM opinion. This is the cruel reality we are living in, and these 2 guys know it very well, after 5 years in the entertainment industry. I don't know if they are together. No one does. But I'm old enough to know that the first person you get a crush on is the one you spend most of your time with (classmates, colleagues, best friends). That's natural. That's why men and women have been separated since the beginning of time. That's why I don't squint too much when someone suggests 2 kpop friends could be "together" coz that's the natural progression of things. Especially for oppressed people in an even oppressive industry. You tend to go for people you trust, that's natural. These videos won't affect them in any way. Their fans won't think any different of them. In fact, it'll be used as reinforcements for the ignorant minds to think that they aren't together. Coz people who are "different" always hide, in their opinion. So people like them don't have to acknowledge their difference. Those who show are always "friends". -

It was a 3:4 minute video Jungkook posted on their youtube channel. And the video is at 2 million+ views now. I'm sure it warrants a reaction. Right? The price of living in a heteronormative society. But hey, he wasn't trying to hide it too much. It was quite obvious what he actually thought. But I'm glad he wasn't completely open about it. I like his videos, and teenagers can be vicious. -

This guy tried REALLY hard not to say what he actually thought of the video, the lyrics, etc etc. Probably terrified of all the 13 year old homophobic fans lol. I mean, these girls are saying they feel like they're on a date with Jimin when watching the video (how blind can you be that you don't realize what that actually means?). So yeah, he's gay, and his reaction is just....so telling... -

From what I understand, they came back right to a schedule, and Jimin recently got sick while abroad and couldn't dance in one of their concerts. Ya, they are packing everything into a very short period of time. -

Vacation. They were sent off by their family from Busan. We've been getting fan accounts and saesangish pics throughout the vacation, but I never thought they'd actually acknowledge it lol. -

I couldn't get that video out of my mind. Jungkook was filming JIMIN the whole time? Like 90% of the video is just Jimin walking, smiling, laughing and being goofy. And the Troye Sivan song? The way the lyrics sync with the video. The entirety of it. The fact that he probably spent an entire day filming his band mate. Like which friend does that?! This is probably one of the realest "teas" we've ever gotten so far. Mind blowing... -

Well, he did constantly film another boy while on a vacation. An unofficial vacation, that is. So there you go. Should be pretty telling, imo. I wouldn't constantly film my friends like that. I tried doing that once when my friends and I were on a trip together, and I got tired of it pretty fast. You can't really enjoy yourself when you do that. He must really like filming Jimin. My thought process for Jungkook has been like this since I joined the BTS fandom: Boy's the straightest one there -> Huh, he's curious -> I think he's Bi -> He just might be gay He pings me a lot nowadays. He's had the most evolution among all the members, in my opinion. -

Yup, a lot of people are miserable with their lives and try to look down on someone else's life to make themselves feel better. It's better to ignore people like that, and I think these 2 are doing a good job of it? Jaeduk just smiles when people tease them, or call him Tony's wife. I've seen that on many occassions (I've developed an obsession for Sechskies recently :P ) Tony tries to save face sometimes, but he's very assertive on NOT living apart from Jaeduk lol :D Moon Hee Jun tried to convince him a lot in that Mom's diary episode and he never budged. He ended up saying he wanted a girl like Jaeduk coz he liked his personality. And ya, that will thing was so coupley. I mean, I can't imagine saying something like that to a friend (even my best friend). Family comes first in will and all, right? They're so brazen though, which is refreshing. As for Tony's mom, I was watching a couple of Mom's diary episodes. She doesn't actively seem to hate Jaeduk or anything. She definitely hated their lawyer friend and wanted him out. She was open about that. In an episode, one of the guests openly asked if it wasn't better if they were separated, and she was all like "It's not like they are going to be married even if they do live separately". LOL. And Jaeduk did say they aren't going to listen to anyone. They are 40 year old, financially stable guys. I don't think what others think bother them much anymore. The only thing I was confused with, and still am, is that they seem to not be sharing a room together (their rooms are too small to be shared by two people) and they had another guy living with them until recently (their lawyer friend). But that might be a front they put out on broadcasts, so who knows. They did spend their life savings (according to Tony) remodeling their house. Nothing beats that. -

Ah yeah, I read about it. Ah well, it was disappointing to see, what do you expect from a first generation idol anyway? Ya, I don't think he's the type to cheat, but bearding could be a good cover for them. I don't know if they'll go as far as fake marriages though? But you never know. Unfortunately, the bearding didn't seem to have worked lol. The number of times MCs and random celebrities still call Jaeduck his "wife" has me astounded. When did Korea become so courageous, or do they just think its just one big joke? I wonder if Heechul and Gunhee are talked about too, but I guess they fly under the radar coz they don't live together, or do undeniable (in Korean standards) stuff like that. -

Tony An, H.O.T. He is sexy, isn't he? I wonder why he didn't do dramas. He has the perfect actor face. Ya, me too, so much love and understanding. Sigh.... True, they'd probably maintain this until they finally retire. They don't look like the types to go for lavender marriages or bearding, so hopefully they aren't pushed to that. They first caught my eye when they guested with Jin and Jimin from BTS on the "Refrigerator" show. Jaeduck was all like "Ya, Tony's mom doesn't want us to live together, but tough luck, I'm not moving out" and then Tony was like "We want to redecorate our house, but we spent all our money on the last decoration. It'll take us some time to recover". Seriously, especially the last line. That isn't something house mates say. They apparently spent way too much money decorating a supposedly "temporary" accommodation. Also, the way he talks implies they manage their money together (I could be wrong). These aren't things you do with friends, even lifelong friends. You spend money custom decorating a house you were gonna live in for a long time, usually with your spouse (not even live-in partners). I barely spent any money decorating my appartment coz I wasn't going to live in it lol (rented it out). If they were just friends, their entire situation is too weird for me. Which is why I don't think they are. They don't leave any room for misinterpretation, but Korea STILL continues to turn a blind eye. That takes skill lol. -

Yes! SM would never promote them if there was even a remote possibility of them being together. And they promote them a LOT. They are cute best friends though, I've never doubted that. And yes, I've always believed Kai was gay (or bi, but I'm leaning towards gay), and it looks like more people are open to that idea now that kaistal have "broken up". Shows how much a straight scandal can mess with our minds. No wonder they still use bearding as a straitening tool. -

Which male idols do you think are gay?
baekjoong replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Yes, you're right. It's mostly the older generation that's homophobic. But unfortunately, they hold the most power, especially in a family setup (which is predominant in Korea, just like most of Asia). Parents expect you to study, get a good job, and get married, preferably to someone they approve of. Oh, and have kids within a few years of getting married. Nowhere in this process did they even think their child could be gay, and therein lies the problem. Parents play a very important role in their kids' lives, so naturally, kids tend to hide parts of their lives their parents wouldn't approve of. That's why you hear about lavender marriages and gay guys marrying women but having affairs behind their backs, etc. But things are changing around a world. Hopefully a few decades from now, parents would stop pushing children into "marriage" or a cookie cutter life in general. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
baekjoong replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Don't ever apologize when you state your opinion, even if you feel others might not agree with it. You might be right. I tend to side eye the ones who "strongly" deny ever liking the same sex more than the ones who openly show their attraction. As you said, Asia is generally a very homophobic place, and people who need public support (celebrities, businessmen) would not usually want to compromise their images. Fanservice is fenservice until they go on variety shows and suddenly talk about how much they like girls lol. That's why I hate when fangirls say "oppa" is not gay or "unnie" is not a lesbian because they said they like the opposite sex, had a scandal with the opposite sex, bla bla bla. What else do they expect from them? And that's why I prefer looking at what they do than what they say, coz idols lie, 90% of the time. Actually, everyone in the public light does. But no one is good enough to police every one of their expressions, body language etc. -
