Which male idols do you think are gay?
baekjoong replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Where did any of us talk about "gays being horndogs"? When have I ever, in this thread, or outside of it, insulted anyone LGBT? I don't understand the hate some of the people have in this thread. I said, they don't have time for proper relationships, which they don't. So, if there is anything going on within a group, it's more like hookups rather than dating. If you want to refute that statement, sure, go ahead. Give me your side of the discussion, but don't shade my views. Yes, exactly. This is what I've been trying to say. Outside of your group, or outside of your label, you run the risk of competitors running their mouth. The competition is rife in kpop, and I'm sure its just like any other industry where people push others down to get ahead. Remember that gay blind item where that "friend" ran his mouth about an idol? If a blind item was written, he must have betrayed his friends' trust. So, I think only people who have as much to lose as them by a scandal would even know about the LGBT members. In a group, if one member gets into a scandal, the whole groups suffers. And to an extent, that can be extended to label mates as well (though not so much). Also, to some people in this thread, there is no need to treat everyone like homophobes. I come from a minority too, and I'm a woman in an uber-traditional culture who faces discrimination EVERY SINGLE DAY, so I know how it's like to be treated bad and to be misunderstood. But, when people aren't even doing that here, they don't deserve all the shading and sarcasm. You don't even know if the ones talking about the hookups are also a part of LGBT or not, so where is all this defense coming from? People hook up. Gays hook up, straights hook up, adults hook up. Sex is a stress-reliever and has been since the dawn of time. So yes, I still stand by my point - hookups are probably more common than relationships, and they probably hook up with people they know they can trust (friends, labelmates, bandmates - if they are LGBT+), rather than with random folks. What I don't agree with though is that people turn gay/bi when put among a group of attractive same-sex people. From personal experience, nope, that's not how it works. Either you have homosexual inclinations from the start, or you don't. But societies like S. Korea (and my country) have rigid gender rules that prevent people from acting on it, which is probably why more LGBT folks get drawn to kpop in general, and which is why a higher % of people ping in kpop than in real life. People in this thread have always thought he was gay though, not even bi? So, I think the "manly, hence straight" reasoning is only with his fangirls. I did get curious about him once and saw his pics with that old director guy. Ya, not so "straight" as his fans claim. -

Lol, some delicate flower downvoted me. Idols hook up, honey. They are not the pure angels you think they are. Adults can't be pure angels, it's against our make. I'm standing my ground. Yup, Bey, I mean, there are probably a lot more bi and bi-curious people out there than we think there are, especially in the kpop industry. It's the only industry in South Korea that actually celebrates men acting in a non-manly manner. Otherwise, it's all "manly this", "macho that". So I am not surprised that there are a lot more people with a homosexual inclination in kpop. So, there is probably a lot of in-group hooking up going on between the LGBT+ members. Maybe that's why we get so confused in this thread? No wonder we can't pin point the LGBT dudes and their crushes properly. -

If they breakup, yes, it would be dangerous to date within the group. But then again, idols act for a living, so I don't think it'd be too difficult to act like everything's fine on camera? I mean, members act like they are the best of friends all the time (whether that is true or not), and fanservice is a form of acting as well. So, in my opinion, dating within the group seems easier than outside. If you're consistently photographed with a person from another group, alone, doing coupley things, people are going to question it. There's no going around that. If they are members, they have that extra layer of protection. They also live together, so there's that. But it doesn't probably happen as much as fangirls like to think though. Hookups, definitely, but full-on dating is probably not so common within groups, or even out of it. With their gruelling schedules, I can see why. -

Exactly. We're both at an age where we know how the world works. I don't understand why you're so defensive over the sexuality of someone you've never met, and will probably never meet. Discussion is welcome, but aggression isn't. You've posted a lot in this thread over the years, and you've always been aggressive. At some point, you need to accept that people are going to have a different opinion from yours and move on. I don't get why you want to defend Sehun here every time people even allude to him being gay. He might be, he might not (I'm beginning to think he might actually be more bi than gay as he grows up, but that's my opinion). There is no use in fighting over it though? I'm not going to talk about this anymore. I know you know better, so I'll just assume that you do this for fun (or whatever). -

Now if THAT isn't telling, I don'y know what is. I've noticed it's very difficult to identify dynamics in BTS though (friendship or otherwise), so it might just be that the "sexual" lines, if any, aren't defined to just 2 people, which is why we are so confused lol (jihope, vmin, vihope, jikook). Tbh, I can see all of that happening. Ugh. Confusing!! -

At 1:42 Look at how Baekhyun responds to the camera man's question. All shy and flirty lol. No wonder all the hyungs like him. -
Sorry for sending you into a research spree like this. But wow, you're right. Repeating after Baek means Soho thinks his choice of words was we ride, for him. That's how people normally react. You're not reading too much into it. When people are running after obvious OTPS and dismissing the subtle ones, they miss out gems like Chanbaek which I believe has a greater chance of being real. Gay couples won't be obvious to the public in a homophobic country like Korea. I come from a homophobic country, and you won't find an inkling of anyone being gay, except for the flamboyant ones who can't really hide it. If they are being obviously coupley on camera, it's most likely fan service. There are exceptions everywhere of course. Chanbaek hardly behave like best friends on camera, but us shippers know they are very close. There must be reason why they are hiding the fact that they are attached to the hip when they aren't on stage.

HI! Been lurking here for some time. A HUGE fan of your theories btw. I read about Baek calling CY's dad father in law before. I even went on anew extensive Korean words search. I was kinda disappointed though, coz some sites seem to imply adding -nim at the end is just something the guy or girl's friends did, to indicate respect? So is it just that? :( :( It'doesn't be totally cool if we can confirm he was calling them in-laws though. Guys, do any of you have Korean speaking friends? Unfortunately, I don't. This'll pretty much confirm their relationship, if it was true. Especially with FEM and CY's mom's public support and else.

Haha, I like you. You're right about Taohun. In my opinion, Taohun is a bit in your face, but there are a ton of gay/bi people who aren't like that, especially the older ones. There are plenty of gay people who don't seem gay at first, second, or tenth glance. Doesn't mean they are not gay or bi though. -

Maybe the "image" SM created for him made him act childish and feminine, and maybe he's not really like that in real life? Or maybe it's the opposite now, especially since he's in China, what with all their gay banning and all. Or, it could be that, he only clings to people he's really close with, and since he went solo, we don't see his interactions with his close friends anymore. Or maybe he's just grown up lol. Most of his actions were more childishness than feminine anyway. Yup. I agree. -

Well, with the way he looks at Xiumin sometimes, I won't be surprised if he did turn out to be a pervert lol. Haha, that pattern!! I've noticed it from day 1. That's why people call him obsessed with Xiumin. I mean, at the start, I used to think he stuck to Xiumin coz he's Chinese, and probably has no friends outside of him. But we now know that was hardly the case. He probably had more korean celebrity friends than Xiumin tbh. Dunno. Someone that outgoing doesn't usually butt into their best friend's conversations/interactions all the time, unless they are possessive. I say this from observations I've made in personal life. I'm part of that minority too!! I don't really know why its so difficult to get people to agree that Luhan's gay. I certainly am not telling that because he's feminine looking. I know that how a person looks has nothing to do with their sexuality lol. I'm probably bicurious/bisexual (not that I have a chance to confirm that in my conservative country) but I'm really "dainty" looking, so people won't guess that I check girls out by looking at me. So I definitely know. But straight guys don't have attraction to men, not even a single man. When that happens, you're either gay/bi/pan, full stop. It was soooo obvious that Luhan was attracted to Xiumin. Anyone who followed their interactions will know that. He can lie on camera or show a different persona or whatever, but a person can't change their body language that much. Your eyes and your body language always reveal the truth to someone who knows how to read them. So yup, he's definitely at least bi/pan, and not because he's "girly looking" or whatever. He might be into women. Nothing about him actually made me think otherwise. Or, he might be a really skilled closeted homosexual who can come across as someone who loves women. Could be either, we can't really say. But one thing he can't hide is his attraction to men (or a certain man, from what I saw). Attraction on that level should definitely be taken into consideration when determining/guessing someone's sexuality, imo. Kris? Whoa...really?? Now that's unexpected. Can you share the rumors? I would never be surprised when straight/macho guys are revealed to be gay. I stopped being surprised after Matt Bomer and Wentworth Miller lol. I don't know whether he's a pervert or not, but I want to tell you that I'm not telling that Luhan is attracted to men just to justify my ship. I'm far too old and disillusioned to even try that. But I've been in enough relationships and I've seen plenty of people in relationships to know when there is attraction in the air. Actually, I agree with you that, though Luhan looks "girly", he doesn't act like a girl, EVER. He's not macho, not like he wants to be lol, but he's definitely not girly either. He acts like just any other average boy his age does. Sometimes, he does have to play up his macho-ness (is that a word? lol) coz people mis-gender him, like you said, and that's really sad. But me telling that he has attraction to the same sex has nothing to do with how he looks. Lets take Yunjae for example. Pretty much everyone agrees that Yunjae was real at some point. Actually, that was the opinion even in 2007, from what I can see. No one at that time even considered that Yunho could be gay, not even once. They invented terms like Jae-sexual to justify Yunho's blatant attraction to Jaejoong. But now that Yunho's showing a bit more of his real self on camera, and the gay bad rumors and everything, people are more inclined to agree that he might be gay/bi. The same goes for Baekyun's attraction to Chanyeol. Its an agreed fact here that Baekhyun had/has (at least) a crush on Chanyeol, which probably isn't reciprocated. People conclude these things by looking at body language, which cannot be completely hidden lol, no matter what people want to believe. So there you go. We don't call him homosexually inclined because of how he looks, and definitely not to promote a ship, but because we saw his blatant attraction to a person of the same sex and how he acts around that person, consistently. I'm not talking about Fanservice either. Casual fans don't look beyond that, but I have, so I know the difference between their interactions. I don't know if they acted upon the attraction, but the attraction was certainly there. In fact, when I got into EXO, I was a Baekhyun fan, and I had no idea Xiumin even existed, let alone Xiuhan. I noticed their interactions in their group videos, airport fancams, etc. Out of focus interactions that were obviously not meant for fanservice lol. I know he hates being misgendered, and I wasn't even trying to misgender him coz he acts nothing like a girl. Please look at my response above. Lol, right? How can a person, whose not even a great actor, hide soooo much of his body language. Even great actors can't hide their true selves 24X7 for god's sake. The attraction was there people. Get a non-fan to look at it and they'll tell you. And the "fanservice" excuse is the oldest excuse in the book, and it will never be relevant for them. SM started promoting them because fans noticed how close they were and they became popular in 2013, unlike the other "official" ships that were blatantly and deliberately promoted from their debut. Btw Ringo, I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on Xiuhan/Luhan/Xiumin. We seem to be on the same wavelength. They are the realest relationship I saw in exo. Them and Taohun. -

Luhan is a perv, really?! Wow...never thought he would be, he doesn't look it... I'm a HUGE Xiuhan shipper btw, though I've been following this thread for a while and no one believes Luhan is even bicurious (that's really shocking lol)...he was all over Xiumin, and it was NOT platonic I could never really figure out Xiumin though, he was too passive (I think that's the right word) for me to ever get a reading on him. -
Oh god, oh god!! It's you! I LOVE your videos and analyses. I couldn't understand the ones without English subtitles, but the rest I've seen already. Great job! Created an account just so I could post on this thread. :P Guys, do you think they are still in contact? Long distance is very difficult, but not impossible (personal experience).
