took a quick look at the article you're referring to i think NCT U is, and has always been, the "representative" unit. the first unit to debut, the flexible formation, the fact that it showcased members who are now arguably some of the most popular... (ten/taeyong/mark/jaehyun/doyoung... taeil not so much but he was cheated for Without You lol) i don't think that has ever been questioned. in terms of the word "main" though, that implies that its a central unit that receives more attention. which is/was definitely not the case (at least not in SK). nct 127 had the real promo, the real push, the physical album. i still think nct 127 being somehwhat fixed -- with an actual leader and all -- is still the "main/central" unit IMO, since its obviously seoul-based and this is k-pop but NCT U as a unit encapsulates and embodies what NCT overall is about; which is flexibility and the transient nature of their concept. so its like... the perfect symbol of NCT thats what i got from the billboard article
