Some late, stray thoughts on Pristin: 1) I love everything about their debut, but I guess you can't please everyone. I don't think the complaints about Wee Woo as the title track are valid – it's the most obvious choice for me as the most on-trend song on the album, despite or even because of its flaws – but I would also say that the album is top-to-bottom solid and so I can see how it would generate debate. It really does cover all the bases as far as song concepts go, and therefore plays to all tastes. 2) In a perfect world they would have dropped a second MV for Black Widow simultaneously. But leading with it as their debut title track? Nah. 3) Nayoung is hot af and the next Seolhyun. 4) For a time it was easy to forget how much of a visual group Pristin are when for months all we got to see them in were those damn hoodies...

I have to give respect to the producer for making the change. I like the first song but these new ones are definitely more in the spirit of the unnies, and they should chart a whole lot higher as well. Chaeyeon is actually really charismatic when she has the camera to herself, particularly on all the solo V Lives she's done. People miss that and assume she's shy and reserved when they see her as part of a larger group, but she's just a typical introvert who tends to stand back in a crowd (a bit like WJSN's Luda).

Was just cackling to myself how in the latest episode of Sister Slam Dunk, Somi offered to cook a whole bunch of dishes for the unnies but didn't know how to cook the rice, smh. (Throwback to the time Nana didn't know how to cook the rice in Roommate.)

I'm actually getting a Spice Girls vibe from the first (new) song, and given they're both super summery and upbeat they could totally work a La La Land concept into the styling/MV/live stages.

There's something about this Pristin debut. All the teasers to date have presented styling, outfits, color schemes and sets that seem familiar to me and don't stray too far from the current girl group template – and yet somehow they've managed to take the aesthetic to another level. I particularly like the album design(s). Can't help but feel the hype with this one. P.S. Nayoung is gonna be snatching male fans left right and center. P.P.S. smh at MBK. Please don't let the new DIA members rumor be true...

You won't regret watching it. Kim Sook and Hong Jinkyung are two of the funniest women people in Korean entertainment. Kang Yewon is so loveable you can't help but root for her. Kinda funny to think back at how worried everyone was about Somi's future post-I.O.I with no GG plans at JYP. Girl is doing just fine. I'd be completely satisfied if she just kept doing what she's doing for the next few years – MCing, booking variety show gigs and CFs, featuring on other artists' tracks, getting through high school – without rushing to debut as a soloist or in a new GG.

This season really is a gold mine for 2NE1 and I.O.I stans. I loved that they showed Minzy's daily routine and the coffee cart sent by her fans, and of course more footage of Somi's family (all those random Instagram posts with Lee Yeon-bok make total sense now!). The two of them already look like BFFs by virtue of the age gap between the rest of the members.
