The rule of thumb on this show is to approach character as a form of soap opera or melodrama. Any attempt at seriousness or a more measured/realistic approach to acting just isn't the right tone. Needs to be over the top and self-aware. I don't think Eunji is deliberately trying to perform her characters seriously, but she would do well to loosen up more. I'm sure she'll get there. Unfortunately for her, I think having Hani guest next week will show her up a little. As for Se Hyung, well, it seems he still doesn't realize he's the designated comedian on this season. I like that he's so absorbed in the mystery solving (maybe too much this episode – he went all in on one suspect too early) but it's almost as if they need a fellow comedian to guest (ideally Dongmin) to kick him into gear.

I'm sure they want to record the second song as a B-side, but it's a matter of time. They could certainly pull it off if only Somi/Minzy/Jinyoung (and maybe Sook) sang it, as they'd be able to knock it out in the recording studio in no time. Otherwise, the producer will probably just hold onto the track, maybe give it to someone else. Hopefully we find out in the next few episodes.

Every character needs to have a motive (apart from the detective) otherwise it diminishes the fun somewhat. It's ridiculous, yes, but most of the comedy in Crime Scene actually comes from cast members teasing/trolling each other over their weird character traits and potential reasons for killing the victim(s). The smart player, of course, will just focus on connecting the suspect to the crime scene and/or murder weapon – the rest is just white noise.

People are saying these are their live stage outfits, but I'm not so sure – might just be for the jacket shoot and/or an additional shoot for the MV (as they're on the same set). Whatever the case, I think they all look great.

Solid first episode, though by no means spectacular. Apart from Jin and Jiyoon (who are like an old married couple now), the cast seemed somewhat reserved – understandable given it was the first episode, but also I think because this particular case required some sensitivity as it was running parallel to actual political activity. They'll get better. I enjoy it most when they break character and troll each other, and the cases that stray much further from reality definitely allow for that. Eunji will warm up soon, but god I miss Hani. For the record, I guessed right.
