I think beauty preferences and whitewashing are not the same. I mean there's nothing wrong with say liking one shade of eye shadow over another but skin color is so loaded with racial and political implications. It's no coincidence that people of darker skin tones across cultures have the least power. Anyways, I just want Tae to be proud of his skin and for fans to feel likewise. I've read some really awful stuff on twitter where people are bashing him for whitewashing himself. First off, BTS have makeup artists who do their makeup for them. There are many instances where the boys complain about falling asleep in the makeup chair and waking up looking some kinda way. Plus, if he's whitewashing himself, he's only doing it to impress the fans. Obviously, blaming Tae for that is fucked up.

Uggh sorry everytime I post I'm complaining about something but I have to say I don't like what BigHit has done with Tae's visuals. For someone who obviously has a complex with his naturally dark skin, why did BigHit make him look... for lack of a better word... Aryan. He's so pale lately. I miss his natural skin tone. And his hair is cut and colored awkwardly, a patchy white + yellow. Honestly, I could have done a better job with $10 drugstore hair dye. I know Tae says he'll do anything for his fans, but do the fans really want him to look this way? I don't know much about Korean culture but is dark skin really looked down upon that much? I hope K-armys are not encouraging this. I hope they support and cherish Tae's skin because it is flaw free.
