I can’t believe they haven’t filmed the MV yet

I think they were exaggerating how far along they were with the album/debut back in March. I have a feeling the title track/her debut song stilll wasn’t 100% finished/polished, so they couldn’t film a music video for an unfinished song. Because if it WAS complete, why not film the MV? Then you have the title track out of the way and can focus on polishing up the rest of the album.

Recent events make sense, but the END of May? Gah damn. Why not just a week or two?
I know Somi wants the album to be perfect, but an album will never be perfect, so I hope she isn’t setting the bar too high for herself because she was using the same reason back in March.
I understand really wanting to be prepared and making sure everything is as best as can be. Nothing worse than rushed, low quality releases. But she needs to realise that she unfortunately isn’t invincible to the concept of time. As the months go by, she has lost popularity & hype overseas, but also in Korea.
She’s still a known person of course, but her career thrives best off being active & hyped. The complete opposite of YG’s values. If her debut isn’t Chungha/Sunmi/Taeyeon/Bom levels of impressive, I don’t think the public will eat Somi up anymore like they did in the past.
HOWEVER! Luckily, I trust YG’s music. I trust Teddy. I trust Somi. I think her debut songs, MV & performances will be high-quality, unique and amazing. It’s in her best interest that these delays better be for good reason. I’m excited for Somi as a solo artist. Everything happens for a reason & better late than never I guess.

Jeon Somi's solo debut has reportedly been delayed to the end of May
It was delayed to due various recent events and the desire for a better album

Three times wasn’t a charm when it came to Momoland. You can only do the same thing so many times before it gets boring and you lose success. Bboom Bboom, Baam & now I’m So Hot are literally ALL structured the exact same way.
1) Singing Prechorus/Bridge (with Yeonwoo as one of the singers here)
2) Catchphrase Chorus (With JooE & Nancy singing it and being the centre)
3) “Hook†Dance Move that is easy & memorable
4) Generic Electro pop Music Break
5) The beat changes
6) JooE and another girl do a rap whilst having a duo dance break
Repeat Steps 1-4.
7) End song.
It’s not even like Sunmi where all her songs are similar but distinct enough to be passable. It’s a carbon copy of the same formula with a different beat. Seeing as they went from having a National HIt to #44 debut on Melon, their company needs to know it’s not working & they’re playing it TOO safe.

Nana’s jawlooked way better square. Her face looked much sharper and refined. Now (like another user said) it just looks like she gained weight.

Old posts, but still does a good job of explaining the misconception that people still have about Mr Removed videos. Because, no it doesn't prove if the idol is singing live or not. There are more videos about this that you can easily find on Youtube also explaining it, or other articles.
https://kpopalypse.com/2013/09/17/her-talents-are-huge-why-mr-videos-are-all-bullshit/
I've read that article before (and many others time & time again) and that one talks about why you can't judge talent based off MR, which I didn't deny. I'm saying that given it's not pre-recorded, you can frequently use them to tell when and where they sing live. Even on regular performance videos, you can usually tell when they are singing because you can hear their voice over the backing track. Before I even watched the MR, I was wondering whether Lia sang the chorus because you could clearly hear Yeji sing right before her, but not Lia. Then on the bridge (on the regular performance video), I could hear Lia sing that part.
+ if MR was complete dogshit, then companies wouldn't be able to use it to make concert DVD performances sound better, acapella versions of live performances couldn't exist, creating instrumentals for songs released without a public instrumental would be impossible & mic feeds would be damn near useless for these purposes. It's not 100% reliable, yes, but it has its' genuine uses too.

Everything happens for a reason. OT5 ITZY is doing great on their own and although it's a risk, at the end of the day I think Somi is prolly better off solo (since creative control seems to be what she wants. For an ENFP, that makes perfect sense. GGs get little creative control overall).
These performances give me hope. She would have only improved since here and her solo will be custom tailored to her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRoCSijo9pQ
I do think she's had a little drop in popularity (in Korea mainly, only a lil bit overseas) but mainly because she's not constantly "on the map" like she used to be. If her solo is good, I can see her becoming even more popular than she originally was (like Sunmi & Chungha).

I hate to be that person here, but I don't think Lia sang live today apart from the bridge part (minus the "woah"). Whether you watch the MR Removed or Original Performance, you can hear their voices over the track when they do sing, but not for Lia in this performance.
I don't think MR is always a great indicator to TALENT due to the variables (singing whilst dancing is harder, they may lipsync, use LIVE AR/Pre-recording, mic quality, etc); but often times you can accurately use it to tell when and during which parts an idol sings live (as long as they aren't using pre-record, which you can usually tell if they are because they sound too perfect even when doing crazy dance moves).
I think (personally) she's either sick, or she simply isn't used to dancing whilst singing like the others are. It does take cardiovascular endurance and stability, no matter how good a singer you are. Remember Lia (Jisu) was always a standing vocalist before all else. The other 4 members are mainly dancers with prior stage performing experience. It's odd that the main vocal didn't sing, but I do kinda get why she might not.
I wanna wait for Lyma to make a MR video. One of the two currently up is bad quality (crowd too loud, voices too quiet) & the other one didn't remove enough because you can still hear the synthwave melody from the original song (meaning the instrumental and original vocals weren't properly removed). If it turns out she did sing, then so be it. My doubts will be cured.
And conveniently enough people always say MR Removed is absolutely unreliable UNTIL a pitch-perfect MR of their group comes out. Then suddenly they count for something.
A pre-recorded AR (notice NO vocal mistakes, no breaths or breaks when they do taxing dance moves)
An actual live MR (slight natural vocal faults, breaths can be heard, breaks when they do certain dance moves)
A live MR that is bad quality, hindering it's accuracy
I hope I don't get negged for just sharing my opinion here
. I think both extremes are inaccurate (100% trusting MR or 100% discrediting MR) & I think ITZY obviously isn't perfect and can always improve (like Twice did) but they did pretty well for debuting a few days ago with dynamic choreography. Not saying hate should be allowed, but constructive criticism shouldn't be shunned IMO.-

There are not proof of Sajaegi, It is disgusting to ruin someone's career without proof. You would not like if other fandoms accuse Itzy of Youtube or chart manipulation.
There is genuine proof for Woody though. Winning award shows with a literal score of 0 for album sales & got #1 on the charts but Korean GP still have no idea who he is or what his song is. There’s a small chance there was no manipulation whatsoever but it was VERY fishy.

That medley dance was great.
I hated how it was a bit laggy during the Dalla Dalla performance for me (of all times it could choose to slow down!).
Yuna and Yeji really caught my eyes stage presence and personality wise. I think Ryujin was a little nervous bc she’s very outgoing typically. Chaeryeong and Lia are so soft-spoken and mature <3
And Lia looks way better on the live than the MV. I don’t think the makeup suited her wide-set eyes, it was too dramatic. Her showcase look was a lot softer and we can see her actress visuals.
I could tell she is lacking a bit in dancing (mainly because all 4 other members are literally dancers lol) but her singing more than makes up for it and she will improve.
Can’t wait to see them on stage with new outfits at a Music Show!

Reminder for those watching the thread, the showcase is starting in 7mins. If you have V-Live you can easily watch it there or find somebody who is streaming it.

Either American camerawork and stage setting sucks or BlackPink were nervous/not on their A-Game because that Late Late Night Show performance was very lacklustre... if I weren’t into Koop and I saw that it still wouldn’t make me want to check them out based on that performance.
On Korean Music Shows, Award Shows and Concerts they always look very cool but I’m wondering if I should be giving more credit to the fancy costumes, dynamic camera work & bright lighting they use in Korea.

TBH after seeing their debut, I think that even if Somi debuted in ITZY, she wouldn’t distract from the other members like Miss A. Maybe in the beginning but definitely not long term. Not to be rude to her, but objectively, there isn’t a TALENT where she outshines the current ITZY members.
Stage Presence/Being an Ace? Yeji 100% takes the cake.
Singing? Lia.
Unique, Love/Hate Vocal Tone? Yuna also has it.
Dancing? Chaeryeong & Yeji.
Rapping? Ryujin or Yuna.
Visual? Yuna is the visual of the group & has a classic visual face (like a Suzy, Tzuyu or YoonA) whereas Somi is more unique-looking (to the Korean GP).
Variety Personality? Ryujin is also silly & funny like Somi.
Assuming their songs were popular, they definitely would eventually catch up to Somi’s popularity.

Now that ITZY has the colour pop girl crush sound, people can say sayonara to Twice doing a girl crush concept similar to LOA. Twice is lucky they have longevity and good cute songs despite sticking to a safe concept.

Idk what YG's going to do for Rose's solo so that it can live up to Jennie's. Rose is the most talented in BP after Lisa (if you combine ALL aspects of being an idol) but I'm at a loss as to what concept they'll give her lol.
- Ballad = Boring (but Korea likes ballads sooo)
- Classy, Girl Crush Solo = Too similar to Jennie's concept
- Cute/Innocent = Over YG's dead body
- Hip Hop = Not Rose's style.
Maybe energetic? Mature? IDK. I just hope the other 3 girls don't do worse than Jennie in their solos. Solos are their time to shine.
