apparently there might be a new reboot in the summer

 

 

 

 

 

So today Dan Didio, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee as well as the official DC Comics Twitter & Instagram page all posted this image with a singular word in bold blue letters, â€œREBIRTHâ€. 

While there is nothing confirmed other then this “REBIRTH†happening this summer my mind is immediately screaming reboot. Yeah you heard me right, REBOOT as in everything starting back at #1. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about all of this so I’m going to work out the good, the bad and the ugly for anyone willing to listen. 

THE GOOD

So this could actually be a really good thing for DC Comics for multiple reasons. The most obvious being that maybe everyone over at DC Comics are realizing that the New 52 has been nothing if not a huge conglomerate mess. Origins have been wishy washy, the continuity has been completely lost within the universe itself, and honestly other then some of the things going on with Batman’s main title run none of it really holds up to anything prior to the 52 reboot. 

This could also be DC Comics’ way of reaching out to newer fans. With the launch of the DC movie universe happening with Batman V Superman, and quickly spreading to Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and eventually Justice League there will be a lot of new fans wanting to jump into the comics because of what they’ve seen on the big screen. The same could be compared with Marvel’s universe with the launch of Avengers and so on. So lining this new “relaunch†(if that’s what it is) right alongside their newly forming Hollywood universe might be the right thing to give new fans an easy way in. 

THE BAD 

DC could not even listen to it’s fans. It’s possible that the universe could just carry into this new relaunch, all of the crappy aspects included, but then again could some of it really get any worse then it already is. So I suppose this one could be the lesser of two evils. 

THE UGLY 

This is the scary party. If DC does decide to go through with a reboot it could mean putting a lot of smaller comic shops in danger. I’m worried that with this relaunch a lot of their fans might loose faith and thus not even bother with the new #1′s. All in all it could totally tank. That would means that some shops would loose out on a lot of sales and not be able to carry over. 

So here’s what I say, should this reboot happen, support the titles you love, or at least give them a chance with it’s first issue. Here’s to hoping that we can hear from DC Comics soon because the anticipation sure is killing me.

I think it's real. I read about it from DMC (Detroit Metal City) - a comedy manga about a guy who likes music more closely to Loveholic but is the lead for a death metal band.
