Did anyone else fall out of love with K-Pop this year?
Polaris_Tae replied to starsocks's topic in The Lobby
Yep, I find myself listening to Lo-Fi mixes far more than KPop & I fell into MDZS hell this year so I've been binging on The Untamed a lot - their OST is genius!!! I don't even have a KPop bias group anymore - which is a first for me. My new hobby rn is Chinese Web-Novels, Xianxia-BL novels are god-tier! -
Not an English student, though I did take a few English classes... lots of reading Congrats on enrolling!

The young male sperm whale became stranded on the Isle of Harris in Scotland's Outer Hebrides. (CNN)A young sperm whale that died after becoming stranded on a Scottish island last week had a ball of debris weighing roughly 100 kilograms (220 pounds) in its stomach, according to an organization that carried out a postmortem on the animal. The juvenile male whale died Thursday on Seilebost beach on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, according to Dan Parry, the administrator of a Facebook page that aims to keep nearby Luskentyre beach free of trash. Workers from the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme (SMASS), which collates data on stranded marine animals around Scotland, discovered a huge ball of debris in the whale's stomach during the necropsy, according to a post on its Facebook page Sunday. A necropsy found 220 pounds of debris in the whale's stomach, including sections of fishing nets. Among the debris -- which seemingly came from "both the land and fishing sector," SMASS said -- were sections of net, plastic cups and tubing. The organization could not find evidence that the waste had blocked the creature's intestines, but it said the amount of debris could have played a part in its live stranding. It added: "This amount of plastic in the stomach is nonetheless horrific, must have compromised digestion, and serves to demonstrate, yet again, the hazards that marine litter and lost or discarded fishing gear can cause to marine life." As the 20-ton animal could not be moved, it was buried on the beach, with members of the coastguard and the Western Isles local council helping with both the necropsy and the burial. Parry, who says on Facebook that he he walks along the beach each day, picking up litter, wrote in a post: "Debris in our oceans is everyone's problem - the fishing industry need to do better, but equally, we all need to do more. "Watching this today, makes me despair for the environment, totally falling apart around us." Source ------ This is so sad.... stop littering, people

Nearly two dozen kindergartners gave testimonials in a Michigan courtroom about how much they loved the soon-to-be-adopted boy. From left, 5-year-old Michael Clark Jr., David Eaton and Andrea Melvin in the Kent County 17th Circuit Court in Michigan during Michael’s adoption hearing on Thursday. The 5-year-old boy, wearing a blue vest and a maroon bow tie, sat on a swivel chair in front of a judge as his kindergarten classmates filled two rows of courtroom seats behind him. The students held rulers adorned with paper hearts — the theme being “love rules.” The boy, Michael Clark Jr., was one of 36 children to be adopted on Thursday during Kent County’s 23rd annual adoption day in Grand Rapids, Mich. Twenty-one kindergartners and several parents, teachers and school administrators attended Michael’s hearing, said Carlye Allen, the principal of Wealthy Elementary School, where Michael is a student. He invited his teacher and classmates to the ceremony because, he said, he wanted his whole family to be there on his special day, Ms. Allen said. Judge Patricia Gardner, the presiding judge of the 17th Circuit Court’s family division and founder of the county’s adoption day, asked all the people in the courtroom to stand up and say what they loved or appreciated about Michael, Ms. Allen said. One boy declared, “Michael is my best friend.” Another child stood and said, “I love Michael.” David Eaton, Michael’s adoptive father, said he started tearing up listening to the children’s testimonials. Michael seemed touched too, though it was hard to tell with a child that age, he said. “He was in his swivel chair up front, swiveling around and facing his classmates,” Mr. Eaton said. “He felt like a king of a castle on that day, just loving it.” After the official documents were signed, the kindergartners waved their handmade heart signs in the air. They were bumping in their seats with excitement, and all the adults were “extremely emotional,” Ms. Allen said. “I think he understands that this means he has a permanent home now,” Mr. Eaton said. “He’s not going to be taken away.” Michael moved in with Mr. Eaton and his wife, Andrea Melvin, in November 2018. He was the couple’s first foster child, Mr. Eaton said. “Right from the get-go, you could tell when you met him that he was a really outgoing child,” Mr. Eaton said. “He didn’t seem intimidated by us or the situation.” When the courts decided in the spring to terminate the parental rights of Michael’s birth parents, Mr. Eaton and Ms. Melvin started considering adoption. Ms. Melvin told Michael’s kindergarten teacher, Kerry McKee, about the adoption at the end of October. Ms. McKee began discussing a potential field trip to the courthouse with Ms. Allen. The trip would be a way for the 5- and 6-year-olds to learn more about their community and open up conversations about adoption, Ms. Allen said. “After thinking about it, there was no way we couldn’t go,” Ms. Allen said. By the time the final date and time of the hearing were set, the school had about a week to prepare. One parent volunteered to pay for a bus to shuttle the students to and from the courthouse, which was about 20 minutes away. The bus company said it needed at least two weeks’ notice to provide a vehicle but made one available at the last minute when it heard what it was for. One family even delayed a vacation by one day to attend the hearing. The students experienced something amazing and were back at school in time for lunch, Ms. Allen said. “I think Ms. McKee was aware that sometimes kids stigmatize other kids for being adopted,” Mr. Eaton said. “I think she wanted to show the whole class that this was a celebration, a wonderful moment.” Source
