  1. A disgusting scene that should never have been filmed. I only posted it to emphasize that Dance Moms and Cuties aren't even in the same league in terms of inappropriateness, but I'll go ahead and remove the link because it is sickening.
  2. I would agree that that clip is inappropriate, but it's not in the same league as what happened in Cuties. The analogy is appropriate because it's supposed to criticize the sexualization of children by overly sexualizing children. EDIT: Removed the link. You can find it on YouTube. In no world is this okay, even if the message were intended to be good.
  3. I don't know that I ever saw young girls hump the floor, spread their legs, and grab their crotches while the camera zoomed in on them in Dance Mom's, and that's what they were doing in Cuties. No doubt that the film meant to criticize that, but it makes about as much sense as making a film criticizing animal cruelty and really abusing the dog in the making of it.
  4. I cancelled my Netflix because of it, so I'm hoping it's gone by the time Stranger Things Season 4 comes out.
  5. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I graduated with an English degree and then went overseas to teach (for me, I went to China). It's totally worth it. I hope you can make the most of it. I've heard that Korea is being pretty restrictive about who they're allowing in right now, but I haven't tried myself. As far as being an English major, it seems like going back to school is our best bet if we want a long-term career, lol.
  6. Are you looking to teach overseas? What was your major? I want to go to grad school to be a professor down the road myself. It's a good goal!
  7. Congratulations!! Any plans on grad school? I want to build a bit of muscle by the end of 2020 and figure out my five-year plan for my life.
  8. I watched Grave of the Fireflies about ten years ago and thought it was sad. I thought I'd give it another go last night and shut it off about ten minutes in. Incredibly beautiful and tragic movie. I think I was too young to really understand it when I watched it in high school. It's absolutely crushing now.
  9. Be blunt and set boundaries. It's something I'm still learning to do because I don't like hurting people. What I've found is that by being blunt (which isn't an excuse to be rude) and setting boundaries, you find out who needs to be in your life anyway. People you want around you will respect your boundaries, and your relationship will improve. People who can't respect your boundaries weren't right for you to begin with, so don't worry if it's awkward or if he deletes you everywhere. I can almost guarantee that you'd rather that awkward moment come and pass (because it won't be as bad as you think, especially when you make it through) than having him stick around and keep trying. That will absolutely drain you.
  10. Same. I was very happy to hear that Biden and Kamala tested negative. I disagree with them on almost anything, but I guess I just don't get kicks out of other people suffering.
  11. Apparently this drug is useful for those who have mild symptoms and is most effective at preventing the need for hospitalization, so the fact that he took this drug seems promising, as it suggests that his condition is currently mild. Going to the hospital makes sense, as they'll want to keep a close eye on the medical condition of the POTUS.
  12. You're still laughing at his situation, and that's disgusting. He did pay attention to this even before he got infected. How hard is it to just send him best wishes and hope that the POTUS is safe, regardless if you like him or not?
  13. He didn't call the virus a hoax. He said the Democrat narrative of his handling of the virus was a hoax, and it's not true that he failed to protect Americans.
  14. Nonsense. He never said that the virus was a hoax. He said the Democrat narrative of his handling of the virus was a hoax. You're missing the whole point. You're either for or against the severity of the disease and the lives lost. You can't condemn Trump for downlplaying severity and give Democrat leaders a pass for encouraging and allowing activity that also spread the disease and cost lives. You can't pin 200k deaths on Trump when many of those same deaths came under the policies of Democrat leaders. I never said you can't make those statements. I said it shows a class, and it does. Again, more nonsense. Trump has done a lot to counter the spread of the virus, and states/Democrat leaders have also done their part to drive up the death count. You're trying to twist this because you want to shift the attention away from the fact that you're displaying an absolute lack of decency. I don't remember Trump doing that, but if he did, I would agree that it shows a lack of class. Defending Trump as the better leader of the country doesn't mean that I think he has a lot of class. He has qualities worth praising for the role he is in, and that's worth mentioning. It's completely not the point and doesn't excuse the fact that you're showing a lack of class and basic decency, and that's the whole point of this conversation. But nice try at a distraction. Again, he didn't call the virus a hoax. Before you try to engage in a debate with someone, try to develop more than double-digit IQ reasoning and learn what you're talking about. This laughable excuse of an argument is not going to work on me, or anyone else with half a brain either. No, what's pathetic is the fact that you're spinning in circles trying to get the attention away from the fact that you have a true lack of character. I'm not in a position to engage with Trump about his remarks, but Trump's lack of class isn't the reason why I voted for him and why I will vote for him again. I've done nothing here but tell you that it's completely not right to mock and make snide remarks about the POTUS catching a potentially-fatal virus. It's not a joke. It's not funny. Spin it however you want, but you're not getting that past me. Lol, looks like I pressed a nerve on you because all you want to do is resort to childish name calling. Again, you're taking a moral high ground and claiming to be oh-so-American while displaying a disgusting lack of character. How about working on yourself before trying to scold someone else when you don't even have basic decency. You'd come off a lot better. The reality is that the disgusting and pathetic one here is you, and you're the one jesting at someone catching a potentially life-threatening illness. Get out of your liberal echo chamber, learn some basic reasoning skills, and work on your moral character.
  15. You really need to learn how to read before you waste time dropping evidence that has nothing to do with what I said. I said Biden hasn't condemned specific groups. He's condemned violence generally speaking, but he has yet to come out and condemn Antifa or violent BLM protesters. Call them out by name. Tell them to stop. Tell those Biden supporters and far-left radicals who are shooting cops and Trump supporters in the name of Antifa and BLM that he doesn't stand for those organizations. He hasn't done it. When did I ever say that the response to the virus was perfect? I didn't. I said that it's not true that he's done nothing, and that it's been put out since the beginning that the best-possible case would be 160k dead. We're doing relatively-well by that measure, but you can't put the blame for the excess deaths all on the President. Cuomo is responsible for 11k in nursing homes alone through his poor policies. Knowing something about a virus and knowing that the virus is a problem in a specific area are two different things. Don't conflate the two. Ebola is a very dangerous virus. I understand that, but I don't think it poses any special threat to Americans right now. The same is true of everyone in the early stages of COVID when America still had a very low number of reported cases. People weren't always wearing masks during those protests. I'm not lowering my expectations at all, and it's been proven that masks aren't 100% effective in avoiding contracting the virus, even if they are an effective measure. There's no way to say for sure that he wouldn't have gotten it if he were wearing a mask or that he wasn't wearing a mask when he got it. But let's not get distracted from the point. The point is that joking and making snide comments in jest about someone's illness is absolutely classless. I'm sorry that you weren't raised any better to know the difference. Or just about any of y'all in this thread for that matter. It's disgusting to try and pretend like you're on some moral high horse while openly joking about the POTUS and his wife being infected with a potentially-fatal illness. If you lack the basic humanity to realize that, I truly do feel bad for you.
  16. The administration was always upfront that the best-possible response would be 160k people dead with a cap between 3-3.5 million dead. Individual states are responsible for their own handling of the virus, so you can't lay 200,000 deaths at his feet. The left is responsible for massive protests and riots that also spread the disease, but I wouldn't wish the virus on any of them, nor would I say that they deserved it. If Biden got attacked by BLM/Antifa rioters, I wouldn't say he deserved it, even though he's yet to condemn specific groups for violence. There's got to be a standard of basic human decency, and that's absent here.
  17. Hydroxychloroquine has been shown effective for some patients, but that's not the point. You're still being disrespectful. Have some basic decency.
