Whether good, bad, ugly, or somewhere in between, 2019 brought with it some of modern Pop culture’s most memorable moments. Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on 31 moments that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we’ll know it. First, let’s reflect on Pop queen Janet Jackson‘s amazing year… Start at :30 mark: Despite a 40+ year career in entertainment that’s seen her break records and barriers for women of color, Janet Jackson – the youngest of the famous Jackson clan – had been overlooked for inclusion among Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees every year since 2007 – her first year of eligibility. That changed on March 29 when the diva finally got to formally accept her induction into the elusive club via a powerful acceptance speech (seen above). Paying homage to the trail blazed by her siblings (Jackson 5 were inducted in 1997, brother Michael inducted as a solo artist in 2001), she was sure to thank her familial forerunners and even shout out trailblazing performers who came after her. ***** After 2018 added a host of awards to her already full mantle, 2019 seemed poised to be just as rewarding in other ways. Janet Jackson has had quite the year. Indeed, the Queen of Pop launched her hit ‘Metamorphosis’ residency in Las Vegas, performed at Glastonbury, celebrated ‘Rhythm Nation’s 30th anniversary, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Now it looks as though Miss Jackson is readying exciting newness for release in the new future. See what we mean… As reported, the diva appears in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam. When quizzed in her interview feature about her next music release, she said (translated): Jackson’s latest offering was 2018’s flavorsome bop ‘Made For Now,’ which featured Daddy Yankee. EXILE AKIRA and Lin Chi-Ling hold their wedding ceremony EXILE AKIRA and actress Lin Chi-Ling held their wedding ceremony on November 17 in Tainan City, Taiwan. The two began dating after co-starring in the stage play 'Red Cliff ~Ai~' back in August of 2011, and they officially submitted their marriage registration papers in in June. They chose to hold their wedding in Tainan because it is a special place of memories for Lin Chi-Ling's grandmother and her family. About 100 people, including the couple's family and friends, were invited to the wedding. Hit the link below to learn more… The iconic artist released her last studio album ‘Unbreakable’ in 2015 and used to it address the themes of love, life, inequality, travel and inner peace with help from longtime friends and producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Now it seems she is ready to share her gift with the world once again. Cinq Music, the company she used to distribute her single ‘Made for Now’ spoke to PR Web and revealed that they “will be working with Janet and her team at Rhythm Nation in the coming year on several new projects, including a forthcoming single and new album.” TGJ can exclusively report that the entertainer recently made structural changes to her management team after returning to Pop’s scene with a team of up and coming executives in her arsenal. Janet Jackson made a surprise appearance at The Fashion Awards 2019 tonight at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And for commendable reason. For, the Queen of Pop was on-hand to present Rihanna with the Urban Luxe honor, in commemoration of her strides with her various fashion ventures. After presenting RiRi with the award, Jackson was spotted mingling with the Bajan beauty backstage, as well Anna Wintour, Edward Enniful, Winnie Harlow, and more.
