  1. Hello everyone, super longtime lurker here. There was a comment made back awhile ago on this thread about NCT's Jaemin. I couldnt find it but it was basically about how Jaemin pinged because of his mannerisms. I found this intriguing because i honestly wouldn't have suspected him if it wasnt for his interactions with Jeno (who i am also still confused about). I just wanted to know what you guys think of these two. Do some of Jaemin's mannerisms come off as "stereotypically" gay?

i actually don't think he's flamboyant or feminine in the slightest, but something about him just screams gay?? i can't really pinpoint it but i think it's just the way he carries himself. i feel like we haven't seen enough of him yet to make an absolute conclusion, but from his interactions with jeno alone i'm pretty sure he likes boys.

    speaking of which

  2. On the March 29 airing of tvN's 'Life Bar', MC Shin Dong Yup commented, "Heechul claims he's the one who actually exposed Defconn to the public, not Jung Hyung Don."

To this, Defconn said, "In the past, I guested on a radio show while Heechul was the DJ. That was the first time I saw him but he acted like he was so close to me."

Defconn continued, "I used to promote hardcore music in the past. I favored rough music and Heechul even knew my songs and liked me so much. He expressed one-way affection often, making me wonder if he likes me as a guy."

Shin Dong Yup teasingly commented, "Yup, there were (gay) rumors in the past."

  3. Jeno: his parents barely spent anytime with him at seollal, his grandma takes him to church? smells like homophobic

parents to me, and his relationship with jaemin is questionable so i'd say pan

edit: people have been saying he seems to be tense with some of the skinship when it's on camera and i agree, it again could contribute to the homophobic parents theory where he's concious of what he's doing because he knows someone in his family could see it and not be very happy

interesting take since he did actually confirm he was baptised and that jeno is his christian birthname, but made a point of saying he's NOT religious anymore.

i know mentioning religion on here is somewhat controversial, since religious lgbt people obviously do exist, but let's be real - they are a minority. i think especially in cases like this, where someone is brought up in a conservative christian home (because pretty much all organized christianity in korea is ultra conservative) but then chooses to distance themselves from that religion... is noteworthy to me.

  4. So, a twitter user pointed out that the sweater Yoongi is using in this old photo has a quote of Brokeback Mountain

whether he picked the sweater out himself or not, you CANNOT convince me yoongi didn't get the reference. this is the same min yoongi who could name both the main actors and the characters they played in "a frozen flower" from the top of his head, even singing along to the soundtrack.

yoongi is very passionate about cinema in general, so i bet he's seen a fair share of gay movies.

  5. Alright correct me if I'm wrong, but is

for ''She's gone'' portraying a bit of the LGBTQ+ scene? I am no expert, but some of the dancers look kinda fluid and it seems like they are voguing. Anyways, the song is sooo good laugh.png

damn peep that death drop @ 1:57 QRLGYBO.png  the fashion, choreo and aesthetics of this mv are all very obviously influenced by lgbt culture, but it seems kinda... misplaced??? because the song is so straight, both lyrically and sonically (there are a lot of country and rock elements to the song, which is not something you'd ever hear in a dancehall)

  6. Ok I still think Mark is straight and LGBT-friendly but just not to the point where he's totally comfortable with other guys kissing and touching him even in "joking" ways. And a lot of straight people are like this, so I don't see him being "confused" or anything. And don't even start this "toxic masculinity" bullshit or whatever.

However, I'm starting to have second thoughts about Haechan...

the thing that's suspect about mark tho is that according to the other members he LOVES skinship, but as soon as the cameras start rolling he goes into this rigid, awkward, "please don't touch me" mode.

i think he's very scared of being perceived as gay. notice how he's always the first one to react to any gay stuff, even if it doesn't involve him. at first i just brushed it off as him being very self aware, but he literally gets SO NERVOUS it's like you can feel the anxiety through the screen. it reminds me of myself when i was in the closet and constantly paranoid that people would somehow find out.

snowball project is what initially opened my eyes. that show was literally 80% shy and flustered mark.

they kinda laughed it off, but mark sounded so sincere and grateful when he said this.

  7. my thoughts on nct are for the most part in line with the general consensus, but here they are anyways:

    Taeil - straight
Johnny - i fluctuate between bisexual and just a very openminded ally
Taeyong -  gay thru and thru. i can't believe so many of you still thinks he likes girls omg...
    Yuta - straight
    Doyoung - straight
Ten - G A Y !!! the gayest gay to have ever gayed
Kun - no idea (fun fact: i tried writing 'no idea' like 4 times inn a row but instead wrote 'bi idea'... is this a sign or am i just way too tired lmao)
Jaehyun - bisexual or gay, but definitely on the fruity side
    Winwin - straight
    Jungwoo - gay
    Lucas - straight
Mark - i actually think he's a full blown home of sexual, but part of that is probably just me projecting because he reminds me of a younger me so idk
    Renjun - no idea
    Jeno - gay or bi
    Haechan - straight
    Jaemin - gay
    Chenle - no idea
    Jisung - straight

I'm a little bit disappointed with the lack of Shownu receipts though. He pings me as bisexual (''at least'' biromantic). Any thoughts?

    kxWu7X2.gif

for some reason shownu has always striked me as gay, but i'll have to look for more repeipts to get back to you.

  8. Why does everyone think Winwin is straight? jw

i guess most nctzens just think so because he hates skinship and pretty much all winwin ships are onesided... him being pegged as the straightie could also be because he's said some hypermasculine "REAL MEN SHOULD--" comments and generally seems more on the no homo side.

i can't really pin him down, but he's had his fair share of eyebrow raising moments, and besides, there are plenty masc4masc guys who act the same way so i always take that with a grain of salt.

  9. Is it perhaps easier to be a gay man than a gay woman in Korea?

with the systematic persecution of gay men in the military (which is mandatory) i definitely don't think they have it much easier. in general it's hard to compare the experiences of gay men and women because homophobia manifests so differently for us.

  10. Not that much of a reach: Idols who seem to take in a fair amount of lgbt centered content whether it's music, movies, books etc.

A reach: When an idol says something that's just so suspect to me that it sets off the kill bill siren in my head. One of the reasons I started looking further into Sana is because of her infamous "When I watch tv I'm usually more attracted to the women...no homo tho!" imstupid.png

i honestly wouldn't say either of those are a reach, but OMFG where's that sana thing from? fD4JAZe.png

  11. Mark really doesn't realize what he's saying sometimes lmao he said he was craving bananas like 3 minutes after Ten's "John's banana" joke as if Ten wasn't gonna clown him for it.

I've been getting into the dreamies lately because I liked Go and there's so much drama the whole nomin thing, renjun in the middle but recently obsessed with mark, mark being...... mark lmao he's apparently more christian than we thought and prays every single night and bought haechan a bible (who even knows what he did to prompt this gift) but is also obsessed with his "pretty legs" and is overall a gay magnet, haechan loves skinship and seems chill with girls - not sure what either of these things mean, I got nothing on chenle and jisung seems done with all the gay drama. There hasn't been all that much said about the dreamies because some people get weird about the thought that 17 year olds might be bi/gay because apparently people that age are still clueless asexual babies, I guess I didn't get the memo.

lmao all the 00' liners are a force to be reckoned with honestly laugh.png  and let me tell you, jisung is TIRED

i can't get a read on chenle either. so far i just know he's a very sweet, thoughtful and openminded boy who doesn't subscribe to toxic masculinity.

  12. I agree with yours.

One of my pet theories is that there are more gay girls than average in girl groups, because of the whole "no boyfriends, surrounded by pretty girls, look at how happy we are" thing that's so common to girl groups for the last decade or so.  So like if you're a gay Korean teenager who doesn't want a boyfriend but enjoys singing and being surrounded by pretty girls, why wouldn't you try to be an idol?

Err, so basically I take notice when like, a lot of idols talk about dating bans as a burden, but there's other girls who really don't seem like they mind a bit, and that always kinda pings me.

Not like it necessarily means anything, cuz plenty of straight girls are career-minded, or just not interested in romance, or simply fine with dating in secret.  Buuut I still notice it.

omg yeah, that's a good point! i've never really thought about it, but obviosuly gay idols wouldn't feel the dating ban as a restriction since they can pretty much just hide in plain sight anyways laugh.png

religion is another factor that i strongly take notice of, while others tend to just brush it under the rug or stample it as irrelevant. sure there are lgbt people who are religious, but it's not a reach to say that most of us feel very alienated by organized religion. i was brought up in a very conservative, christian family myself and now that i'm independent i've made it very clear i want nothing to do with god. i strongly relate to any blasphemous sentiment, such as gain's entire hawwah album and yves - new ("Is it really a bad thing to disobey God?")
